Chapter Forty-Two: The Second Morning of the Holy Grail
“I suddenly feel I should change allies.” Lancer’s calm voice reached Kiritsugu Emiya’s ears.
“What happened? Do you think that even if we join forces, we still can’t win?” Though Kiritsugu had guessed something, he chose to ignore it. He thought that as heroic spirits, such things shouldn’t exist.
“This isn’t about winning or losing!” After leaving Byakuya’s projection, Lancer addressed Kiritsugu with utmost seriousness.
“Then what is it?”
“Of course it’s about lolis! And not just any loli, but a fierce tsundere loli! This is the dream of our kind! Plus, as heroic spirits, our appearances never change no matter how much time passes~! That’s even more incredible—a forever fresh loli!” Lancer, as if possessed, gripped Kiritsugu’s shoulders and spoke with wild enthusiasm.
“Let me ask… are you saying that you’re…”
“That’s right! I’m a loli enthusiast!” Lancer straightened his spine, as if announcing himself to be an emperor.
“Oh, come on!” Kiritsugu was internally spartan, but outwardly he just covered his head with both hands and sighed deeply.
“Do you look down on loli enthusiasts? I’ll have you know, in this polluted world, only lolis are the gifts bestowed upon me by the gods. They heal us, their innocence and occasional cunning are what makes them divine. Remember, being a loli enthusiast is a sign you’ve been chosen by heaven!” Lancer began spreading his loli theory.
“Oh, when did I become a loli enthusiast!” Though he complained inwardly, seeing Lancer’s nearly transformed personality, Kiritsugu decided not to voice his thoughts. He feared Lancer might disregard their contract and act out.
“All right, don’t reject your inner feelings. Don’t you love your daughter? Isn’t your daughter a loli? So don’t be confused—join us, join the tribe of loli enthusiasts.” Lancer suddenly realized that if he could recruit Kiritsugu, perhaps the tragedy to come might be avoided, so he spoke with even more fervor.
Just as Lancer was continuing his sermon, a knock came from outside the door.
“Master, Mistress has arrived.” With Maiya’s voice, the door opened.
“Sorry to interrupt~” After opening the door, Irisviel saw a certain “girl” who looked quite attractive gripping Kiritsugu’s shoulders, seemingly saying something. She promptly closed the door and retreated.
“What just happened?” Lancer was completely clueless. Though he had always looked somewhat fragile, with clothes at least he wouldn’t be mistaken for a woman. But ever since he started working for Renhua, he’d become prettier. Until now, only Boss, that fool, had ever called him feminine to his face. As for the mask—it was just a habit, simply because it looked cool.
Without the slightest awareness, Lancer was about to resume his sermon when he heard a voice that haunted his dreams.
“Iris! What’s wrong?”
“Well, well, Kiritsugu and a woman…”
At that moment, Lancer and Kiritsugu exchanged glances. In his impression, Lancer’s actions had nothing to do with women, and though he had thought Lancer a bit effeminate, he never considered him a woman. Lancer himself was even less aware. When someone was about to open the door, he quickly donned his mask—this time borrowed from Renhua, with some special abilities.
It possessed automatic repair and style-changing abilities, but no defense at all, about as sturdy as a piece of paper. For that reason, it simply became the most common mask and was put on his face. Just then, the door opened.
“Master, you already have a wonderful wife like Iris, why…” Toria originally intended to scold Kiritsugu, but upon entering she instantly drew her holy sword, wrapped in the wind king’s barrier.
“Who are you?” Though Kiritsugu was her master, she instinctively shielded Iris behind her.
“Me? You can ask my ally, but I wish to clarify one thing.” Lancer’s figure suddenly blurred and appeared in front of Iris. “I want to say: I am a man.” Then he leaped off the building once more.
“Chirp~chirp~” Byakuya appeared above Lancer, and Lancer grabbed Byakuya’s claw and vanished from the sight of the four.
Byakuya, now a heroic spirit, possessed his most powerful form, so he was quite different from his younger self. That’s why Toria didn’t associate Lancer with Byakuya upon seeing him.

“Ugh, I should’ve known not to show off.” Lancer sat atop a tall building, rubbing his feet that had been forcibly revived using lightning power.
“Chirp~chirp~” Though unable to speak, Lancer could sense the mocking tone.
“All right, Byakuya, let’s go back.” Lancer didn’t want to say more; who asked him to get dramatic again? Showing off for no reason.
――――――――――Next day divider――――――――――
Lancer lay on the sofa, sleeping what he called his “morning nap.” But just then, he suddenly felt his nose itch.
“Yanya, are you still a kid? Don’t bother me, I’m a night owl.” Lancer turned over and continued sleeping.
As he prepared to sleep again, he suddenly felt a heavy blow to his stomach.
“What’s going on!” Lancer sprang up, surprised to find a loli sitting atop his stomach.
“Looks like I’m still not awake,” he muttered, then lay down again.
“No sleeping! Uncle Yanya told me to wake you up!” At that moment, Lancer felt his blanket vanish and something moving atop his belly.
Now fully deprived of sleepiness, Lancer sat up and shouted, “What the—”
But he was stunned by the scene before him: a pair of large purple eyes, long purple hair, and white… panties.
“Sakura, have you woken Berserker yet?” A voice called from the kitchen.
“Ah! Uncle, big brother is awake!” Sakura cheerfully ran to the kitchen.
Though Sakura had stumbled when Lancer sat up, luckily it all happened atop him. Now that she knew the demon had been destroyed by this big brother, the little loli seemed to have a special feeling for Lancer. After all, every young girl dreams of being rescued by her knight in her most dangerous moment, and Lancer had appeared just then. Though Sakura didn’t yet understand these feelings due to her age, the seed had already been planted that night.
The loli enthusiast was now entirely dazed, muttering to himself in a voice only he could hear, “Panties… white panties… white strawberry panties…”
Thus, the second day of the Holy Grail War began.
