Chapter 106: Sneaking a Glance at the Message

Peng Min had deliberately left her change of clothes in her room instead of taking them to the bathroom with her. She did this with a subtle intention—to create a chance for some ambiguous moments with Huang Yu, perhaps even to get the better of him. Peng Min knew all too well that men were all the same—lustful by nature, except for eunuchs, but they didn’t count as real men, lacking the essential tools. Yet Huang Yu did not fall for her trap, which left her feeling disappointed.
She looked at herself in the mirror, admiring her well-proportioned figure and youthful, beautiful face, convinced that few men could resist her charm. But then she thought of Li Jia, with her ethereal aura and fairy-like beauty, and her confidence instantly deflated.
“Well, if Brother Huang Yu can resist someone as stunning as Li Jia, then it must not be so easy to tempt him,” Peng Min mused to herself. She patted her cheek, dismissed her thoughts, and after roughly drying off, she boldly walked out without wearing any clothes, showing no trace of a young girl’s shyness.
After all, compared to inexperienced girls, she had been with many men and was completely unreserved about such matters. Even if Huang Yu consciously stayed in his room, or even if he saw her like this, she would be more than happy. She would boldly put on a show and then confidently seduce him. A bold life needed no explanations.
Exiting the bathroom, Peng Min scanned the living room, her eyes flickering with a trace of disappointment. She then went to her own room, immediately spotting her clothing piled on the bed. Next to her room was Huang Yu’s.
Approaching Huang Yu’s door, she pressed her ear against it and heard nothing inside. She considered opening the door to surprise him but thought better of it. If she angered him and got kicked out, that would be a wasted effort.
Returning to her room, she glanced at her clothes on the bed, then toward the door, a sly smile breaking across her face. If she guessed correctly, Huang Yu must have seen the lingerie she left out—there was no way he hadn’t noticed.
A small thrill stirred in her heart as she happily dressed in a cartoon T-shirt and shorts, radiating youthful charm. As summer approached, the weather had already become hot; even at night, light clothing was comfortable. Young and beautiful girls like her had the greatest asset—simple attire was enough to catch most men’s eyes.
“Brother Huang Yu, I’m dressed now. You can go wash up,” Peng Min said, neatly dressed, as she left her room and knocked lightly on Huang Yu’s door.
The door opened.
Huang Yu saw Peng Min standing there, her jet-black hair still wet with droplets clinging to the strands. “Though the weather’s warmed up, nights can still be chilly. You should dry your hair first, so you don’t catch a cold,” he said, having initially planned to head straight to the shower but now hesitating upon seeing her.
He glanced her over again—her well-proportioned figure, the shorts revealing long, slender legs—it was hard not to let his mind wander. Hastily, he looked away, trying not to stare.

He thought to himself that Li Jia seldom dressed so boldly; even in the heat of summer, she usually wore long skirts, rarely shorts. Li Jia and Peng Min were two girls with completely different personalities.
Peng Min smiled and nodded, then turned and headed for the bathroom. Huang Yu watched her graceful figure retreat, exhaled deeply, and took his change of clothes to the living room sofa. Yet his mind was troubled—had agreeing to let Peng Min stay with him been a mistake?
Still, he reasoned that as long as his willpower held strong, there would be no problem. Besides, in terms of figure and beauty, Li Jia far surpassed Peng Min. But when it came to seductive attire, Peng Min was more straightforward, much more so than Li Jia.
“Supposedly, the report would be sent before 9 o’clock, but it’s already past 9 and there’s nothing yet,” Huang Yu muttered, checking his phone. The butler had not sent the investigation results. He set his phone on the coffee table and turned on the TV, casually watching the evening news to pass the time.
The sound of a hairdryer from the bathroom persisted for a while before finally ceasing. After about ten more minutes, Peng Min emerged and came into the living room.
Huang Yu realized that living with a girl meant always having to wait. He noticed clearly that after drying her hair, Peng Min had meticulously groomed herself before coming out.
“I’m going to wash up. If you get hungry, there’s food and drinks in the fridge,” Huang Yu said as he took his change of clothes and headed toward the bathroom, passing Peng Min.
Inside the bathroom was spacious, divided into two areas separated by sliding doors. The outer area had a vanity with a mirror, a dressing table, and a washing machine; inside was a large bathtub with a shower.
Since the sliding door lacked a lock, Huang Yu had to turn around and lock the door to his room behind him. He stripped off all his clothes, and when he put his clothes into the laundry basket, he saw Peng Min’s discarded clothes, including some lingerie, placed right on top.
His mouth twitched slightly, speechless and unsure what to say.
He thought locking the door behind him was a wise move.
He wasn’t a fool; on the contrary, he was quite intelligent and could sense Peng Min’s subtle temptations. This feeling was all too familiar from many girls since his youth.
Being exceptionally outstanding often made one highly sought after.
He hesitated briefly but decided not to mix his clothes with Peng Min’s, placing his in a separate box on the counter.
After a quick rinse, he lay back in the bathtub filled with hot water, closing his eyes to rest.
Outside the bathroom, in the living room, Peng Min slipped off her slippers and lounged on the soft, large sofa. The coffee table before her was piled high with all kinds of deluxe snacks and drinks.
She controlled the TV with the remote, marveling at how different the life of the wealthy was.
Suddenly, Huang Yu’s phone on the coffee table vibrated and lit up, clearly receiving a message.

Curious, Peng Min picked it up and confirmed it was indeed a message from someone.
“Who could it be, sending a message so late? Hopefully not a mistress or something,” she thought, eyeing the phone.
She had watched many idol dramas and romance shows where rich playboys or powerful bosses kept mistresses—sometimes more than one. There was a popular saying still passed down: “The flag at home remains upright, while colorful flags fly outside,” referring to a successful man’s prowess.
The thought made her even more curious about the message. She wasn’t exactly trying to defend Sister Li Jia or expose a mistress for revenge; rather, she secretly hoped it was a mistress’s message. That way, she would have the perfect opportunity to capture Brother Huang Yu that very night.
However, the phone was locked with both facial recognition and fingerprint security.
Peng Min soon discovered the phone also required a six-digit passcode.
She thought about Li Jia’s ID card birthdate. “It can’t be that easy—maybe the password is Li Jia’s birthday?” she mused skeptically but decided to try anyway.
Entering the birthday numbers, she pressed confirm.
The screen flashed, and the phone unlocked immediately, revealing the home screen.
“Wow,” Peng Min exclaimed, covering her mouth in surprise. She glanced toward the bathroom, seeing no movement, then at the TV broadcasting the news loudly. With the bathroom water running, no one would hear her.
Unlocking Huang Yu’s phone made her heart pound wildly.
After several deep breaths, she opened the newly received message.
Expecting a mistress’s message, she found instead a long report from Huang Yu’s butler, including a document about adjustments at the Shengshi Hanguang Nightclub.
Seeing the document’s title briefly, her interest waned. Once she was sure it wasn’t a lover’s message, her curiosity faded.
Just as she was about to exit, a few lines in the butler’s message caught her eye.
Carefully reading through it, her eyes widened in shock. She instinctively covered her mouth, trembling slightly, whether from fear or anxiety she couldn’t tell.
The butler’s message mentioned that this nightclub was one of the many enterprises owned by Huang Yu’s father.
The startling revelation sparked countless thoughts in her mind.
After several minutes, her gaze hardened, as if she had made a firm decision.
She replied briefly to the butler with a “Received,” then swiftly deleted all the messages and documents, leaving no trace behind.
