Chapter 124: Invisibility Talisman
An icy chill gripped Yin Tianfang’s entire body, the sharp, piercing pressure sending a shiver down his spine. At the critical moment, he tapped the ground with his toes and dashed forward without a second’s hesitation.
Yet, that cold, lethal intent lingered like a shadow. Suddenly, Yin Tianfang flickered, vanishing from his spot as if he had teleported, and the oppressive chill instantly dissipated.
Reappearing dozens of meters away, he released his spiritual sense to sweep the surroundings, but he found nothing. His brows furrowed tightly.
Taking a deep breath, Yin Tianfang stood his ground and slowly closed his eyes. Even if his opponent could turn invisible, as long as they had not merged completely with the void, they would inevitably cause a disturbance the moment they struck. All he needed to do was wait for them to attack again.
"Roar!" A ferocious, violent cry erupted. The hidden assailant, clearly anticipating Yin Tianfang’s strategy, commanded the demonic ape through some unknown method. The ape roared and leaped toward Yin Tianfang.
However, it was impossible for the ape to harm him. Whether due to Yin Tianfang’s life-saving actions earlier or because he held the Sky-Winged Demon Tiger’s soul-blood, the tiger would never allow the ape to get close.
The Sky-Winged Demon Tiger realized that Yin Tianfang was facing a serious threat, having been attacked without even catching a glimpse of his enemy. If the ape were to join the fray, Yin Tianfang’s situation would become even more precarious.
Yin Tianfang stood still, knowing the tiger would intercept the ape. As long as the beast was kept at bay, he could focus on sensing the location of the invisible foe.
*Bang!*
Just as he focused his senses, an invisible palm struck him.
"Ugh!" Yin Tianfang spat out a mouthful of blood. He spun around instantly, a long sword appearing in his hand. With a slash, a sharp sword aura cut through the void, striking a massive ancient tree a hundred meters away. The thick trunk shattered instantly, and the towering tree collapsed with a thunderous roar, sending clouds of dust into the air.
*Bang!*
At that same moment, an invisible fist slammed into his body. Yin Tianfang let out a muffled groan. This time, he did not strike back rashly, instead keeping his focus on the surroundings.
The Sky-Winged Demon Tiger clashed with the ape, its ferocious attacks preventing the beast from drawing near. The tiger kept the ape hundreds of meters away from Yin Tianfang.
Despite the ape’s absence, Yin Tianfang had still been injured by these strange, unseen strikes. However, the wounds were not severe.
From the two attacks, he deduced that his opponent’s cultivation was only at the early stage of the Core Formation realm. Had the attacker been stronger, those strikes would have left him incapacitated.
Taking a deep breath, Yin Tianfang closed his eyes once more. The battle between the tiger and the ape had reached a fever pitch. The ape was powerful, but it was still a cut below the Sky-Winged Demon Tiger.
However, the tiger could not slay the beast instantly. While the two monsters fought, the hidden assailant did not strike again. He seemed to be waiting for the perfect moment to deliver a fatal blow.
Time passed slowly, filled with the roars of the beasts. Yin Tianfang ignored the noise, his expression calm. After several minutes, a subtle change appeared on his face.
"Die!" Yin Tianfang suddenly opened his eyes and flicked his finger. A streak of purple light vanished, heading straight to his left.
*Plop!* A soft sound echoed. In the space that appeared empty, a bloom of blood erupted. A figure stood there, flickering in and out of sight. He stared at Yin Tianfang, his eyes filled with confusion and disbelief. In his hand, he gripped a dagger glowing with a sickly green light—it was clearly coated in lethal poison.
"How... how is this possible?" Blood bubbled from his forehead as he muttered, his eyes wide with shock.
"Did you think I took those two hits for nothing?" Yin Tianfang looked at his opponent and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, his voice calm. "Even if you can turn invisible, the moment you move, you inevitably cause ripples in the surrounding space and spiritual energy. I let you strike me precisely to pinpoint those changes."
*Thud!*
The lifeless body collapsed to the ground. In the distance, the demonic ape, witnessing this, felt a surge of terror in its bell-like eyes. That momentary panic gave the Sky-Winged Demon Tiger the opening it needed; it lunged forward, its sharp claws tearing through the ape’s defenses and decapitating it in one motion.
Blood sprayed like a fountain as the headless corpse hit the ground. The Sky-Winged Demon Tiger tore open the ape’s body and extracted a crystal-like sphere that shimmered with radiant light, carrying it over to Yin Tianfang.
This was a demonic beast’s inner core. Every beast that reached the Core Formation realm condensed such a core, much like the golden core of a human cultivator. These cores were highly valuable for array construction, alchemy, and even directly increasing one’s cultivation.
Yin Tianfang glanced at the core in the tiger’s mouth and waved his hand. "Keep it for yourself."
At these words, a glimmer of joy appeared in the tiger’s eyes. It tilted its head back and swallowed the core. As fellow demonic beasts, the tiger could directly absorb the core to strengthen itself. Having consumed it, the tiger wore a look of immense satisfaction.
Meanwhile, Yin Tianfang walked over to the ape’s master. On the man’s forehead lay a yellow talisman covered in complex runes that Yin Tianfang did not recognize.
It was this very talisman that had granted the man his invisibility. However, now that he was dead and the talisman had been pierced by the purple shard, the effect had faded.
After peeling the talisman from the man’s forehead and unhooking his storage pouch, Yin Tianfang stood up and beckoned the tiger. It trotted over quickly.
Yin Tianfang leaped onto the tiger’s back. With a long cry, the beast spread its wings and soared into the sky, carrying him away as fast as lightning.
Sitting on the tiger’s back, Yin Tianfang opened the storage pouch. Inside was a large amount of spirit stones, though they paled in comparison to another item.
Beyond the stones, there were a few more yellow talismans and other trinkets. The most precious items, naturally, were these talismans.
Yin Tianfang pulled one out and examined it closely, a smile of delight appearing on his face. It was, indeed, an Invisibility Talisman!
