That evening, the young women and Zhang Linsheng, having received the news, visited Ye Fei one after another.

Zhao Dan also came. To Ye Fei’s surprise, given her father’s position as a bureau chief, it would have been effortless for her to get a prisoner charged with mere brawling released from jail. Yet, she made no move to help him. Although Ye Fei had not intended to ask for her assistance, this detail surprised him, revealing that his current adversaries wielded considerable power.

What brought Ye Fei a measure of comfort was that the very fact the opposition had to set a trap to lure him in suggested they were at least wary of public perception and needed to manufacture surface-level evidence; they dared not act with total impunity.

Ye Fei believed that as soon as Cui Yanwu and his team arrived, he would be able to walk out of prison unscathed; the Ministry of State Security operatives often held certain privileges. However, they were currently preoccupied with investigating the "Fang Consortium," led by Fang Tingfang, and were not yet aware of Ye Fei's arrest.

That night, Ye Fei was moved to a new cell.

Expecting to have to use his fists again, he was surprised to find the inmates in the new cell well-behaved; no one sought to trouble him. The prison guards, aware of Ye Fei’s prowess, left him in peace for the moment. The young men who had been arrested alongside him, however, were not so fortunate. The guards redirected their pent-up frustrations toward them and had specifically arranged a separate cell for the group.

"Get in there," the guard ordered, shoving the youths into a cell.

Inside were seven or eight hulking men, all over six feet tall, incredibly muscular, and bearing buzz cuts. When the guards entered, these men were smoking, their shirts unbuttoned, sitting sprawled across the bunks. They eyed the guards and the young men with cold, sidelong glances.

A guard approached a square-faced man, smiling obsequiously, and whispered, "Brother Bao, these few insolent little things are yours to handle."

"What’s their background?" Brother Bao asked, staring at the youths.

"Just some street punks. One of their associates offended a big shot. The word from above is to teach them how to behave while they're here," the guard replied.

"Fine, no problem. We’ll certainly teach them some manners," Brother Bao replied with a cruel grin.

"Good, Brother Bao. We’re leaving now; they’re all yours." The guard chuckled, signaled his colleagues, and left the youths behind.

The gazes of the seven or eight thugs immediately swept over the youths. Sensing these men were clearly dangerous, the youths trembled with fear.

"Don't be afraid. Once Brother Ye gets here, everything will be fine," a fair-skinned young man said, trying to remain calm to reassure the others. But they were, after all, inexperienced youths, and their shaking bodies betrayed their terror.

"Brother Bai, they didn't put Brother Ye in here with us. It was definitely their plan to separate us so Brother Ye couldn't save us!" a younger boy whispered, his voice trembling.

"Damn it, they’re so insidious. We have to find a way to get to Brother Ye," Bai replied, staying alert.

Brother Bao, seeing them whispering, roared, "Damn it, what are you muttering about? Get over here, all of you!"

Bai and the others stood their ground, watching the thugs with apprehension.

"Damn, Can Lang, go drag them over here," Brother Bao commanded.

A thug walked toward them with a sadistic grin, his eyes fixed on Bai with a look of greedy, predatory lust.

"Help! Murder!"
"Help! They're killing us!"

Bai and the others shouted toward the door, but not a single guard paid them any mind. Instead, a guard scowled, tapped his baton, and cursed, "What are you idiots screaming about? Keep it down!"

The youths continued to scream. They were already covered in bruises from earlier interrogations and, though they had regained some strength, they were no match for these hulking men.

"Heh, heh, stop yelling," Can Lang sneered, slapping each of the youths. Blood instantly spilled from their mouths. The screaming stopped.

The rest was predictable. While Brother Bao watched, the other thugs surrounded the youths, subjecting them to a vicious beating before forcing them to kneel and serve them.

*Ptooey.*

One thug spat phlegm onto a young man’s face and barked impatiently, "You, get over here."

The youth crawled forward. The thug extinguished his cigarette directly against the boy's skin.

"Ah—!" The youth let out a shrill cry as a bloody burn mark appeared on his body. The other youths looked on with indignation, but they fared no better, suffering all manner of vicious abuse.

"Boss, give this one to me. It’s been a long time since I had one like this," Can Lang said, grabbing Bai by the collar.

"You like this one? Take him, then. Just don't do it in here," Brother Bao said with a strange look of pity.

Bai’s body shuddered. He had felt the predatory nature of Can Lang’s gaze earlier, and hearing this, he realized exactly what the man intended.

Bai struggled violently, but he could not break free from Can Lang’s grasp. Can Lang called a guard, who opened the door and laughed, "Can Lang, enjoying yourself again, are you?"

The other youths tried to help, but they were battered and dying, with no strength left to move. Can Lang dragged Bai to the shower room, turned on the tap, and shoved him under the water. "Ha! Get yourself clean. Make sure you wash your rear out."

Bai struggled to crawl away, but Can Lang hauled him up and slammed him under the spray.

*Rip.*

Can Lang tore off Bai’s clothes, rinsing away the blood and grime. A bar of soap fell to the floor. Can Lang’s mouth curled into a sadistic grin, like a wolf fixated on its prey. Bai fought back and roared in despair, but it was all in vain. The shower room filled with the sound of Can Lang’s cruel laughter; having been locked up for so long, he was starved for this, and Bai had met a truly wretched fate.

*Splash.* "Ah—! Roar—!"

The water poured down, mingling with Bai’s agonized cries and Can Lang’s laughter.

An hour later, the physically exhausted Bai, unable to withstand the humiliation and brutality, died on the spot. Even in death, his eyes remained wide open in fury.

"Hahaha, damn, that was good," Can Lang laughed viciously. He left the corpse, dried himself off, and walked straight back to the cell.

When Can Lang returned, the others looked on with a mix of surprise and unease.

"Where’s the kid?" Brother Bao asked.

"Damn thing was too fragile. Died after just a little bit of fun," Can Lang said, his teeth flashing in a chilling grin.

The thugs were stunned. Can Lang had abused prisoners before, but they usually only suffered a few days of pain; no one had ever died. To think he had been so ferocious as to kill the boy.

"Brother Bai—!" the other youths screamed internally. They knew it was Bai, and that he was gone.
