*Thump, thump, thump—*

"Nobody move! We are the police! Hands in the air!"

A group of officers burst into the room, guns leveled at Ye Fei and his companions, their voices booming with authority. Ye Fei slowly raised his hands, as did the young men with him. True to their camaraderie, no one revealed the place where Little Lan was hiding.

The police were focused solely on Ye Fei. Once he was apprehended, they saw no need for a thorough search; they simply rounded up everyone on the floor and retreated. Ye Fei scanned the crowd, but to his disappointment, he recognized no one. It seemed the mastermind behind the trap had not shown his face.

...

After the police withdrew, a luxury car slowly pulled away.

"Haha, Young Master Xing, we’ve got him. That Ye Fei fights dirty; he’s in for a world of hurt," Director Liang said with a hearty laugh.

"Director Liang, thank you for your help this time," Xing Gang replied, a smirk playing on his lips. He sneered internally: *Ye Fei, trying to fight me? Destroying you is nothing more than child's play.*

Ten minutes after the police left, Little Lan crept out from his hiding spot. Seeing that the coast was clear, he slipped away and hailed a taxi straight to the city hospital. He was blocked at the door of the ward by two bodyguards, and it was only by chance that he encountered Sun Nana, who helped him relay a message to Sun Yang, allowing him entry.

Sun Yang’s parents were still in the room, but Little Lan ignored them in his urgency. "Brother Yang, Brother Ye and the others were arrested by the police! We walked right into a trap!"

"Damn it!" Sun Yang cursed, ignoring his parents' frowns of disapproval.

"Brother Yang, this is Brother Ye’s dagger. He gave it to me to keep safe before he was taken away. Here." Little Lan pulled out the blade and handed it over.

Sun Yang took the dagger, noting, "He made sure to have you hold onto this before he was arrested. It must be important."

As he drew the blade, a cold, sharp light flashed across the room.

"So bright! You could use it as a mirror," Little Lan remarked from the side.

"You don't know the first thing about it. This must be a masterwork weapon capable of cutting through iron like mud," Sun Yang teased, sliding the blade back into its sheath.

Sun’s father, a man who had seen countless treasures, felt his eyes light up at the sight of the dagger. It was a magnificent piece—the mere value of the blade alone was staggering. He hadn't expected someone like Ye Fei to possess such a rare item.

"It’s not convenient to keep this in the ward. Old man, why don't you hold onto this for me? Keep it in your safest vault and don't lose it," Sun Yang said.

As his father took the dagger, Sun Yang started to speak again, but his father cut him off. "You need to rest. Stop talking so much. I understand your concerns. I’ll go to the police station shortly to check on Ye Fei’s situation and see if there’s a way to bail him out."

*Bang!*

An officer slammed his fist onto the table, glaring at Ye Fei. "Kid, you were involved in a gang fight and caused permanent injury to multiple people. That alone is enough to put you away for a long time."

Ye Fei replied with icy calm, "Isn't this the trap you set from the very beginning? Why bother with all this empty chatter?"

*Knock, knock.*

Someone rapped on the interrogation room door.

"Come in!" the officer interrogating Ye Fei barked.

"Sir, someone is here to see Ye Fei," the junior officer whispered in his ear.

"Can't you see I'm busy interrogating a criminal?" the officer snapped.

"Sir, it's Sun Qianwan, the chairman of the Yida Group," the junior officer warned.

The head of Yida Group! The officer stood up, his expression shifting to one of caution. "Bring him to meet him. I’ll finish this later," he said before walking out.

The junior officer led Ye Fei out to meet Sun Qianwan. Sitting across from him, Ye Fei smiled. "Uncle, I didn't expect us to meet again so soon."

Sun’s father gave a bitter smile. "Ye Fei, I'm sorry that you’ve been implicated because of Sun Yang."

"Hmph, this has nothing to do with Sun Yang. They were really after me. If anything, I’m the one who dragged Sun Yang into this," Ye Fei said coldly. He still couldn't figure out who the culprit was. Logically, Fang Tingfang had the most reason to target him, but she likely didn't have the time to bother with him right now.

"Uncle, do you know who is behind this?" Ye Fei asked. If he knew his opponent, he could devise a counter-strategy.

Sun’s father shook his head. "I don't know. The party involved has more influence than the Sun family, and it's unclear who it is. However, I suspect it might be the Fang Group. I’ve heard about your issues at the Yingde School; it makes sense that they would retaliate after you damaged their interests."

"Fang Tingfang and her people don't have the energy to target me right now. It can't be them. It seems my opponent is well-hidden. This just goes to show they aren't to be underestimated. Uncle, please don't get involved in this. I'll be out soon. Could you pass a message to Sun Yang and the others? Tell them not to worry about me."

"You have my word," Sun’s father replied. "Ye Fei, although I once held resentment toward you for bringing the Sun family into conflict with the Fang conglomerate and nearly causing a crisis, you were arrested this time specifically because of Sun Yang. Thank you."

Ye Fei smiled. "Uncle, Sun Yang and I are like brothers. You don't need to say such things. It was I who nearly caused a crisis for your family due to my private affairs; it is I who should be apologizing to you."

After their talk, Sun’s father left. His impression of Ye Fei had shifted significantly; at the very least, he recognized that Ye Fei was a man of integrity. Moreover, he noticed that Ye Fei remained remarkably composed, showing no sign of panic even in such a dire situation.

Once Sun Qianwan left, Ye Fei was formally charged with gang fighting and causing severe injuries. With the police having caught him in the act, the evidence was deemed ironclad, and he was promptly remanded to prison. The young men who were arrested with him were also locked away.

*Heh, so they want to deal with me in prison? Once I get out and figure out who you are, I’ll return the favor tenfold,* Ye Fei thought with a cold smirk. From the moment he was brought in, he knew the game: they intended to lock him up and buy off the other inmates to exact revenge.

Unfortunately for them, his enemies clearly underestimated his abilities. Did they really think a few prison thugs could handle him? It was laughable. If anything, their move had only provided Ye Fei with more clues.
