Chapter 119: The Beating of the Six-Eared Macaque
Tianxiang Company was slowly recovering its vitality, and the Fang Consortium, under the blows of its long-time rivals, no longer had the time or energy to concern itself with a small branch office like Tianxiang.
With the massive Fang Consortium no longer leading the charge, other groups and companies found themselves unable to shake the protection provided by Zhang Linsheng, the Liu Group, and several other major conglomerates, and were forced to pull back one after another.
Today, while Ye Fei was bored at work, several young men snuck up to the company entrance, peeking and poking their heads around.
"Hey, hey, hey—you lot, what are you doing? What are you looking at? Are you trying to steal something?" Xiao Li happened to spot them, pointing his baton at the youths and shouting.
"Heh heh, Officer, we aren't thieves. We're here to find someone," a young man with white and red dyed hair said with a sheepish grin, rubbing his hands together.
"If you're looking for someone, why aren't you asking at the security office instead of skulking around here? Who are you looking for?" Xiao Li demanded.
"We're looking for Brother Ye," the youth replied quickly.
"Brother Ye? Who? Speak normally—or rather, give me a name," Xiao Li asked, puzzled.
The young men hesitated for a moment, then said with some uncertainty, "Ye Fei?"
"Looking for Ye Fei! You should've said so earlier! I didn't even know Ye Fei had a nickname like 'Brother Ye'!" Xiao Li muttered. "Follow me, Ye Fei is in the security office—"
With that, Xiao Li led the group toward the office. The youths cheered inwardly, as if they had just won a great battle. They hadn't been entirely sure if "Brother Ye" was actually named Ye Fei; when Sun Yang had introduced him to them, he had only referred to him as "Brother Ye." One of the underlings had accidentally overheard the name Ye Fei once, but wasn't certain, which explained their earlier hesitation.
"Ye Fei, you've got visitors—" Xiao Li called out as he entered the security office.
Ye Fei looked up, noticing that the doorway suddenly grew dim as several figures blocked the light.
"Brother Ye—"
"Brother Ye—"
"Brother Ye—"
The young men called out in unison.
"It's you guys. Why are you here? Where is that kid Six-Ears?" Ye Fei asked, surprised.
"So you really do know them; that's a relief. I thought they were lying to me! But Ye Fei, these guys look like street thugs! Is what you said true? Were you really hanging out with people like this? And you developed those fighting skills from getting into brawls every day?" Xiao Li asked.
"Yeah, yeah, I wasn't lying," Ye Fei said dismissively, then led the young men to a more secluded area. He felt certain that something must have happened to Six-Ears; otherwise, these people would not have come looking for him.
"Brother Ye, you have to avenge Brother Yang! He was beaten until his bones broke, and he's already hospitalized," the white-and-red-haired youth said indignantly.
"Six-Ears had his bones broken? What happened?" Ye Fei frowned.
The young men recounted the events, and Ye Fei finally understood. Just yesterday, hearing that Ye Fei had returned, Sun Yang had happily gone out to buy some things to visit him. Unexpectedly, while he was choosing items, a group of people surrounded him and beat him mercilessly, leaving him near death before they fled. By the time Sun Yang’s underlings arrived, he was already lying on the ground, bleeding, with several broken bones.
"Where is Six-Ears now?" Ye Fei asked.
"At the City Hospital. The doctor says he won't recover for at least two months," the youths said angrily.
"Let's go see him first. Wait for me, I need to ask for leave," Ye Fei said. He explained the situation to Shu Manyun and received her approval.
"Ye Fei, how is it that you're busier than the three of us—Su Xue and me—combined?" Shu Manyun asked with a sigh.
"Haha, Director Shu, please don't tease me," Ye Fei laughed.
"I confessed to you last time, and you're still calling me Director Shu? I'm not approving your leave," Shu Manyun 'threatened'.
"Manyun, Little Man-Man, Little Yun-Yun, please approve it!" Ye Fei wheedled.
"Alright, that's nauseating. Go on then!" Shu Manyun said, unable to stand it any longer.
Ye Fei took Sun Yang’s underlings and caught a taxi to the hospital. It was the same hospital where Ye Fei had stayed for over a month, and unexpectedly, he ran into Sun Nana.
"Ye Fei—"
"Nana—"
They greeted each other.
"Ye Fei, you're back at the hospital again? You haven't contacted me once since you were discharged. Did you forget about me?" Sun Nana accused.
"Ahem—" Ye Fei coughed awkwardly, and Sun Yang’s underlings wisely stepped away.
"How could I forget you? I've just been too busy lately," Ye Fei said with a sheepish smile. "If I didn't have time to contact you, you could have contacted me. But I never saw you call me once!"
"Ah—" Sun Nana was stunned, her face turning red as she struggled for an answer. She thought to herself, *Hmph, you have so many women around you, and I don't know what your relationship is with them; who would dare call you randomly?*
However, she didn't dare say it aloud and quickly changed the subject. "By the way, are you here because you're feeling unwell again?"
Ye Fei laughed. "No, a friend of mine is hospitalized, so I'm here to visit him."
"A friend! A man or a woman? It wouldn't be one of those women from last time, would it?" Sun Nana guessed.
"Stop guessing. It's a man; he was beaten up and hospitalized. The name registered should be 'Sun Yang'. Do you happen to know him?" Ye Fei asked.
"Sun Yang? What a coincidence—" Sun Nana exclaimed in surprise, then lowered her voice, realizing they were in a hospital. "The patient in the room I'm monitoring is named Sun Yang. Could it be your friend?"
Was it really that much of a coincidence? Ye Fei paused. "I'd say there's a nine-in-ten chance it's him."
"Hee hee—" Sun Nana covered her mouth and giggled. "Let's go! I'll take you to see him. Your friend isn't in good shape, but he's lucky. A broken rib almost pierced his internal organs; if it had, it could have been fatal."
The two walked toward the ward, and Ye Fei waved for the young men to follow. *To use such ruthless force—no matter what your motives are, I will definitely avenge Six-Ears,* Ye Fei thought, his gaze turning cold. Six-Ears treated him like a true brother and had helped him immensely; facing the massive power of the Fang Consortium, he had even asked his father to take risks on Ye Fei's behalf. That was a significant debt of gratitude.
At the entrance to the ward, they were blocked by two burly bodyguards in dark glasses.
"I am the patient's special nurse. Move aside," Sun Nana said. The bodyguards looked at Ye Fei.
"He's a friend of the patient, here to visit," Sun Nana explained.
"My name is Ye Fei, I'm Sun Yang's brother," Ye Fei stated.
"Yes, yes, we're all Brother Yang's underlings, you've seen us before! We can vouch for Brother Ye!" the young men chimed in from behind.
Just then, the ward door opened, and a young man walked out. "What's with all this noise? Throw these people out already," he said with a frown.
"Young Master Ye, it's us, Brother Yang's underlings. We've met before, hehehe—" the youths said with forced smiles. This young man was Sun Yang's younger brother, Sun Ye.
"It's you lot. If my useless brother hadn't been hanging out with you all day, this wouldn't have happened. This will be a good lesson for him. Get them out of here," Sun Ye said with disgust. The underlings could only offer apologetic smiles, not daring to talk back.
"And who are you?" Sun Ye asked, looking at Ye Fei.
"I am Ye Fei—" Ye Fei replied in a deep voice.
"You're Ye Fei! The one who almost dragged our family down because of your business? Why are you here? Get out, you aren't welcome here," Sun Ye scowled.
Ye Fei stood calmly. He was here to see Sun Yang, and regardless, this man was Sun Yang's brother, and the company had helped him once, so he would not hold it against him.
Before the door could fully close, Sun Yang inside heard the voices. Seeing Ye Fei through the crack in the door, he shouted angrily, "Let them in immediately—"
