Chapter 072: Alone with My Child Bride Sister
Chapter 72: Alone with the Child Bride Sister
The villa was now left with only Chu Fei and Bai Yanchu. Chu Fei lounged lazily on the sofa, while Bai Yanchu, gentle as a newlywed wife, stood behind him, her slender, delicate hands softly kneading his scalp with practiced ease. It was clear from her movements that she often did this sort of thing.
If the upper echelons of Tianding were to witness this scene, they would surely be scared half to death. Bai Yanchu was no ordinary figure—she was the second most fearsome presence in Tianding Group after the reclusive boss himself. Not only was she Ji Wenxuan’s chief assistant, but she also had direct decision-making power over projects under one billion, without needing Ji Wenxuan’s approval.
Yet here she was, obediently massaging a young man’s scalp like a devoted wife. Those hands, accustomed to orchestrating millions at a time, were now engaged in such a menial task—an unthinkable sight. And yet, Bai Yanchu seemed genuinely content to be doing it.
“Does it feel good, young master?” she asked softly, her voice carrying a hint of cautiousness.
In truth, Bai Yanchu was indeed a little nervous. It had been a while since she last gave Chu Fei a massage, and she was unsure if her skills had waned.
“It feels wonderful. Your technique just keeps getting better, Chu’er,” Chu Fei replied with an easy smile.
“Really?” A look of delight blossomed on Bai Yanchu’s face. She pressed her fingers in with renewed effort, feigning a pout. “Young master, you really shouldn’t call me Chu’er anymore. You’re the young master, and every time you call me ‘sister,’ it makes me feel odd.”
“But you really are older than me. What else should I call you?” Chu Fei smiled wryly. The way they addressed each other had always been an unresolved issue between them.
“I’m only three years older. Just call me Ah Chu, like the old master does,” Bai Yanchu huffed, her manner endearingly girlish—a side she only ever revealed to Chu Fei, relaxing in his presence.
“Alright, I’ll call you Chu’er from now on. But you can’t call me ‘young master’ anymore—that’s so outdated. Just call me Chu Fei,” he teased.
“I could never call the young master by name. Absolutely not,” Bai Yanchu shook her head at once.
“You’ll have to. I’m the young master, so what I say goes. If you don’t call me by my name, I’ll keep calling you ‘sister’ forever,” Chu Fei said, feigning annoyance.
“Alright… if you insist,” Bai Yanchu finally nodded, though she looked troubled.
Chu Fei hid a laugh, then suddenly changed the subject. “By the way, Chu’er, have you been well these years working for Ji Wenxuan?”
“It’s been fine. Wenxuan is a gentle person, easy to get along with—not nearly as aloof as he seems,” Bai Yanchu answered without hesitation. Before Chu Fei, she had no secrets—whatever he asked, she would answer honestly and in detail.
“Is that so?” Chu Fei’s eyes glimmered as he turned to gaze at her lovely face. “You call him Wenxuan so affectionately—do you like him?”
“I—” Bai Yanchu’s face blanched. “You don’t think I have feelings for him, do you?”
“There’s nothing wrong with love between a man and a woman. Ji Wenxuan is outstanding—it’s only natural if you like him,” Chu Fei replied gently.
“Young master, you—don’t you trust me? I only have you in my heart. I could never love another man,” Bai Yanchu’s face grew even paler, her hands stilling as she looked at him in alarm.
“Chu’er, what the old trickster said was just a remark. You don’t have to take it so seriously. You’ve grown up—you have the right to pursue your own happiness. If you’re worried about angering him, I’ll speak to him myself,” Chu Fei smiled reassuringly.
Bai Yanchu stared at him for a long, silent moment, then whispered, “Young master, do you… do you actually dislike me?”
“How could I dislike you?” Chu Fei was taken aback.
“I know you’ve never had feelings for me, young master. But whether you do or not, I belong to you. I’ll never love another man as long as I live—unless I die,” Bai Yanchu said earnestly.
Chu Fei winced, feeling a pang of regret as he gazed at her sincerity. He had known this would be the outcome, yet his earlier words had come from the heart. Bai Yanchu was a wonderful woman who, to him, felt closer even than a blood sister. He didn’t want her to waste her life on his account.
“I know you have more than one fiancée, young master. Don’t worry—I won’t compete with them. All I want is to stay by your side. That’s enough for me…” Bai Yanchu’s voice was soft.
“You really are a fool,” Chu Fei sighed, taking her hand and pulling her close, helplessness writ in his heart.
“Young master…” Bai Yanchu gazed at him, eyes shining with emotion.
“I was wrong to say those things. I promise I won’t again. But if you ever meet someone you truly like, don’t let the chance slip by, understand?” Chu Fei said seriously.
“I’ll only ever love you, young master,” Bai Yanchu beamed, her enchanting smile stirring something in Chu Fei’s heart, though he forced himself to restrain it.
Afraid he might do something foolish, Chu Fei quickly changed the subject. “By the way, Chu’er, Ji Wenxuan just said you could handle Xingyue’s affairs. Is that really true?”
“It’s just a small company merger. If I can’t even handle that, how could I ever help you with greater things?” Bai Yanchu replied confidently. In that moment, the gentle child-bride became a figure of commanding authority.
In fact, she hadn’t mentioned that such a task could easily be handled by any of her assistants. She only came personally because it was Chu Fei’s company—partly at Ji Wenxuan’s behest, but mostly because she missed her little man so much. And, deep within, she harbored an ambition unknown even to Ji Wenxuan…
—
At noon, Chu Fei accompanied his child bride sister for a lavish Western lunch before heading to Shenghe Plaza together. There, they parted ways—she was greeted with great enthusiasm by Xingyue Group’s senior staff and went directly to its headquarters, while Chu Fei slipped back to Feilu Company in the neighboring building.
Unsurprisingly, as soon as he entered, Ximen Lu summoned him to her office.
“Well, aren’t you early? I thought you’d be skipping work the whole day,” Ximen Lu remarked sarcastically.
“No way! I’m a man of my word. I said I’d only take half a day off, and that’s exactly what I did,” Chu Fei replied shamelessly.
“Yeah, right,” Ximen Lu scoffed, then added something that nearly floored him. “Before you go bragging, you might want to wipe the lipstick off your face. It’s disgusting.”
Chu Fei darted into the restroom and stumbled when he saw a bright lipstick mark on his left cheek. He immediately recalled the look of longing his child bride sister had given him before they parted, and how he’d felt so guilty he’d offered his cheek for her to kiss.
She really could be mischievous.
As he wiped away the mark, Chu Fei couldn’t help but feel a little annoyed. How long had it been since he’d last seen her? Even his once-innocent, kind child bride sister was now playing tricks on him. He didn’t believe for a second that Bai Yanchu hadn’t known she’d left that lipstick mark—she’d done it on purpose.
Once his face was clean, Chu Fei stepped out to find Ximen Lu still watching him with a sardonic smile and an odd glint in her eyes.
“Some crazy woman rushed up and kissed me outside the building just now,” Chu Fei said sheepishly.
“Keep making things up,” Ximen Lu snorted.
“Fine, I admit I was out fooling around. Satisfied now?” Chu Fei shrugged, not bothering with further explanations.
Ximen Lu ground her teeth in frustration, but there was nothing she could do.
With a toss of her head, she picked up a file from her desk. “I’m not interested in your romantic escapades, Chu Fei. Let’s talk business.”
“What’s up?” Chu Fei took the file, his eyes widening as he looked up. “You’re expanding the company already?”
“The bank loan just came through—over eight million. Since we’re bound to expand, the sooner the better. The first step is to find a new office space, and that’s your job,” Ximen Lu stated imperiously, tossing a few more files his way. “Here are the requirements for the new premises—read them first.” She looked at him pointedly. “Think you can handle it?”
“If I say no, will you change your mind?” Chu Fei asked with a wry smile, holding the documents.
“Of course not.”
“Alright, I’ll do my best.”
“And that’s just the first task. The second is staff expansion. Each team needs to submit a detailed personnel plan for a unified company recruitment. As team leader, you need to get on it,” Ximen Lu continued.
“I’ll do my best,” Chu Fei replied. He could tell Ximen Lu was in a foul mood, so he had no intention of provoking her—there was no reasoning with a woman in a temper.
With nothing more to say, Chu Fei grinned. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading out.”
“Chu Fei?” Ximen Lu called after him.
“What is it?” Chu Fei turned, feeling a little intimidated—he just wanted to make a quick escape.
“Are you sure you’re up for finding the new office?” Ximen Lu eyed him, worried. The task was originally hers, but in a fit of pique she’d handed it to Chu Fei, assuming he’d immediately toss it back so she could mock him. She hadn’t expected him to agree so readily.
This was the crux of Feilu’s expansion, and she feared Chu Fei was just being obstinate.
“No problem. I guarantee you’ll have a satisfactory answer within three days,” Chu Fei replied breezily, turning to leave.
Three days—what an empty boast. That guy could really talk big.
Ximen Lu grumbled to herself in the office, not believing for a second that Chu Fei could pull it off in such a short time. This wasn’t like buying a house—there were countless details involved. Still, she didn’t call him back. Let him make a mess of things for three days—at worst, she’d step in herself.
What she didn’t know was that while recruiting staff might be a challenge for Chu Fei, finding office space was no trouble at all. The entire Shenghe Plaza belonged to him now, and with the company restructuring underway, it would be child’s play to carve out a new office area…
