Chapter 034: The Impetuous Policewoman
Chapter 034: The Impulsive Policewoman
As the young man with a sinister aura approached, Chu Fei paused, inadvertently glancing at the woman trailing behind him, his gaze full of doubt as he looked back at the youth.
That young man was none other than Blood Fox.
The moment Chu Fei saw Blood Fox, he understood why this place had become a slaughterhouse.
Cai Jiu might be seen as powerful and terrifying by many, but in the eyes of certain people, he was nothing at all.
Compared to Blood Fox, Cai Jiu was a mere ant—he didn’t even have the chance to resist. The corpses strewn across the Red Moon Villa were proof enough; everyone had been killed with a single blow, none of them ever understanding what happened. That was the gap in strength.
“She’s called Brush-throat—a woman with quite a bit of character.”
Noticing Chu Fei’s gaze, Blood Fox turned around, hooked a finger under the woman’s chin, and grinned wickedly. “Especially in bed.”
The woman’s face was pale, but she dared not flinch. She forced a smile at Chu Fei, trying to appear calm, but her heart was trembling violently.
Only those who had witnessed Blood Fox kill understood how terrifying he was. He was a madman—a killer who didn’t bat an eyelash at taking lives. Human life meant nothing to him, less than that of livestock.
Though she had just tried to please him with her body, she couldn’t be sure if he would let her live. She had seen Blood Fox joking with Cai Jiu one moment and then, in the next, suddenly strike and kill him. That moment had frightened her into unconsciousness. When she awoke, the villa was littered with corpses—there wasn’t a single survivor.
Not even the chickens and dogs were spared!
At this moment—
Blood Fox released her chin, completely disregarding her feelings, and looked at Chu Fei. “I knew you’d come.”
“So you killed everyone?” Chu Fei withdrew his gaze from the woman called Brush-throat, frowning.
“Would you have let him go?” Blood Fox retorted.
“You’re insane. This is China—do you know what kind of consequences your actions will bring?” Chu Fei’s brow furrowed deeper.
“So what?” Blood Fox laughed carelessly, staring at Chu Fei. “Since when did you become so merciful? I’m surprised.”
Chu Fei was silent. He wasn’t merciful; it was just that every place had its own rules, and Blood Fox’s actions were a flagrant violation.
But Blood Fox couldn’t care less. “I know what you’re worried about. Worst case, I’ll just turn Jiangnan upside down.”
Chu Fei had nothing to say—this was Blood Fox, a madman who never cared about the consequences...
He glanced down at Cai Jiu’s corpse, silent for a long while...
“What are you thinking about?”
Blood Fox asked curiously. To him, Cai Jiu was little more than a lowlife; his death meant nothing. But Chu Fei’s expression was unexpected, prompting Blood Fox to glance at the corpse himself...
——
Half an hour later, Chu Fei left Red Moon Villa, now carrying a folder holding evidence of Cai Jiu’s crimes. There wasn't much, but enough for the police to launch a full investigation and freeze Cai Jiu’s assets...
“You didn’t give him everything just now, did you?”
As Chu Fei left, Blood Fox turned to look at Brush-throat.
“No, just some peripheral data,” Brush-throat quickly replied, her face full of caution.
“Well done.” Blood Fox smiled with satisfaction, pinching her cheek lightly. “You know what to do next, don’t you?”
“Yes.” She nodded eagerly.
“Good.” Blood Fox squeezed her cheek again, grinning wickedly. “As long as you behave and do what I ask, I won’t kill you.”
“Th-thank you!” Brush-throat let out a long sigh of relief.
Thanking someone for not killing her—if she’d heard of such a thing before, she would have scoffed. But now, it didn’t seem funny at all.
“Go on.” Blood Fox let her go.
Brush-throat looked at him nervously, making sure he wasn’t joking. After a moment’s hesitation, she turned and hurried out, not even bothering to change her clothes...
“You’d better not try anything foolish,” Blood Fox called after her, his eyes cold as he watched her leave...
Then he tilted his head back with a long sigh, muttering to himself in a complicated tone, “Chu Fei, you bastard, Big Sis treats you so well. If only she’d be that nice to me. She’s so biased...”
Despite his words, Blood Fox’s face showed no resentment. He slowly took out his phone and dialed a number. “You there yet? If so, get to work. Don’t waste time.”
After hanging up, Blood Fox looked up at the night sky outside. Anyone standing close would notice the intense excitement in his eyes...
——
Back to Chu Fei.
After leaving Red Moon Villa, he didn’t look for Qi Hong, nor did he tell her that Cai Jiu was already dead.
Instead, he called rookie cop Ling Yujiao.
Over ten minutes later, Chu Fei drove up to Kun City Police Station. From a distance, he spotted a female officer pacing anxiously by the roadside, looking around—Ling Yujiao.
Screech!
The Hummer braked hard beside her, and Chu Fei jumped out.
“Chu Fei?” Ling Yujiao stared at him for a moment, then glanced at the ostentatious Hummer and blurted out, “Where’d you get this car? Did you steal it?”
Chu Fei nearly broke out in a cold sweat. He was about to explain when Ling Yujiao added, “Don’t worry, since you’re helping the police, I’ll find a way to smooth this over for you.”
“You misunderstood. This car belongs to a friend, not stolen,” Chu Fei said, exasperated. Did he really look like a car thief?
“Your friend? You have friends this rich?” Ling Yujiao eyed him skeptically, then turned toward the super-imposing Hummer H3. Ordinary people couldn’t afford such a vehicle, and even the wealthy rarely bought one.
“Even an emperor has poor relatives. Can’t I have two rich friends? I’m here to give you some documents. Do you want them or not? If not, I’m leaving.” Chu Fei was genuinely annoyed, regretting coming here.
Ling Yujiao immediately grew excited. “I want them, of course! What documents? Are they useful?”
“I don’t know, see for yourself.” Chu Fei handed her the folder.
Ling Yujiao opened it at once, scanning a few pages under the streetlight before letting out a joyous shout. “Wow, this detailed?” She quickly flipped through more pages, but soon looked up at Chu Fei with a strange expression.
“What’s wrong? Useless?” Chu Fei was startled. These materials were given to him by the woman called Brush-throat—supposedly Cai Jiu’s criminal records. Could they be fake?
“It’s not that they’re useless—they’re too useful. With these, I could arrest Cai Jiu right now.” Ling Yujiao shook her head, her gaze growing even stranger.
Chu Fei grew uncomfortable under her scrutiny. Before he could say anything, Ling Yujiao asked, “Where’d you get these? They’re not fake, are they?”
“I don’t know if they’re real or not. That’s your job as a police officer. Didn’t I ask you earlier for Cai Jiu’s address? These were given to me by someone,” Chu Fei lied without blinking. He couldn’t tell her the truth, so he made up an excuse.
“So you asked me all that just to get these documents?” Ling Yujiao seemed touched. She’d thought Chu Fei was helping that woman Qi Hong, but it turned out he was helping her.
She felt a little guilty for having doubted him.
Ling Yujiao suddenly felt a pang of remorse toward Chu Fei.
“What else did you think?” Chu Fei continued to make things up. Seeing Ling Yujiao staring at him, he felt a bit awkward but went on, “I also heard today that Cai Jiu seems to have offended someone and is being targeted for revenge—maybe gang-related or something. So don’t try to arrest him on your own with just these documents—it could be dangerous.”
Ling Yujiao’s eyes grew even more apologetic. Not only was he helping her, but he was also so concerned for her safety. She chuckled, “Do you think I’m stupid? With these documents, we can arrest him officially—I wouldn’t act alone.”
“Alright then, I’ll be going.” Chu Fei was ready to leave.
“Wait.”
“What is it?” Chu Fei looked back in surprise.
“You need to come in and give your statement before you go,” Ling Yujiao grabbed his arm.
“Come on, I’m not a criminal—why do I need to make a statement?” Chu Fei frowned.
“Uh.” Ling Yujiao realized how that sounded, and quickly tried to explain, “It’s just, since you provided these documents, you need to make a record according to procedure. That way I can apply for a reward for you.”
“Forget the statement. I’m here to help you, not the police. As for the reward, you can just apply for it on my behalf.” Chu Fei shook his head.
“Huh?” Ling Yujiao was stunned.
“You know what kind of person Cai Jiu is. Are you sure there aren’t any of his informants in the police? If he finds out I gave you this, do you think he’ll let me off? Even if you catch or kill him, he still has friends and partners. Those people wouldn’t dare retaliate against the police, but they wouldn’t hesitate to come after me. Don’t you think so?” Chu Fei said.
Ling Yujiao nodded after listening, thinking he made a lot of sense.
“I don’t trust the police, I only trust you. So you must keep the source of these documents secret. If anyone finds out it was me, you’d be putting my life in danger.” Chu Fei added, his tone serious.
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell a soul,” Ling Yujiao promised. She realized now that Chu Fei hadn’t been exaggerating—she’d simply been too naive before.
“Alright, I’m leaving.”
Chu Fei got into the Hummer...
Ling Yujiao gave him a strange look—something still felt off, but she quickly put it out of her mind and hurried toward the police station. Just as she reached the entrance, she couldn’t contain her excitement and burst out laughing, “Ha! I’m finally going to make a big achievement! Hahahaha...”
Chu Fei, just starting the engine, nearly crashed the Hummer into the guardrail at her outburst. He glanced back, exasperated. With a rookie this impulsive, he really couldn’t tell if what he’d done was right or wrong.
