Chapter 124: Things Have Gotten Out of Hand...
Chapter 124: Things Have Gone Too Far...
The atmosphere over lunch was relaxed.
What surprised Chu Fei was how much Jiang Yin had changed. Unlike her timid, silent self on the way there, she was lively and talkative during the meal. She seemed especially grateful whenever she looked at Chu Fei, sweetly calling him “Big Brother Chu” over and over as she eagerly piled food into his bowl. In the end, she even stole all of Jiang Xue’s chances to serve him.
That was precisely why Chu Fei took his leave immediately after lunch. He could clearly sense something unusual in the way the girl looked at him, and it made him feel rather uneasy.
“I’ve arrived in East Sea.” After parting from the Jiang sisters, Chu Fei immediately called Fu Ziqing. He had arrived a day early at her request.
“You’re here already?” Fu Ziqing sounded surprised, apparently not expecting him so soon. But she quickly added, “I can’t spare any time right now.”
“Go ahead and do what you need to do. I’m just calling to let you know I’ve arrived.” Chu Fei was not surprised at all.
“Mm,” Fu Ziqing replied softly. Then she asked, “Where are you now?”
“I just got to East Sea and am wandering the streets,” Chu Fei joked. As he spoke, he glanced at the bustling street around him. Since this was the university district, energetic young students could be seen everywhere, making Chu Fei feel as if he had grown younger himself.
Fu Ziqing had clearly not expected him to answer that way. She seemed speechless for a moment before asking again, “Tell me your exact location.”
It did not sound like a question so much as an order.
“I don’t know the exact address either. I only know I’m somewhere near the university district,” Chu Fei said casually. “Why?”
“Stay exactly where you are. I’ll have Xiao Jing come pick you up.”
With that, Fu Ziqing hung up.
“Seriously...”
Chu Fei put away his phone with a bitter smile, feeling rather helpless. Fu Ziqing was far too domineering. Couldn’t she show a little consideration for other people’s feelings?
He considered calling her back, but eventually gave up.
After looking around, Chu Fei decided not to go to a café or a small bar. Instead, he simply sat down by the roadside, pulled out a cigarette, and waited for Xiao Jing to come get him.
The moment he lit it, however, a fierce gust of wind rushed toward him. A red Porsche screeched to a halt less than a meter away, sending a cloud of dust straight into his face.
“Damn!”
Chu Fei jumped in fright. The Porsche had appeared so suddenly that he had not had time to react. Fortunately, the driver had braked in time. Otherwise, wouldn’t he have been sent flying?
Chu Fei rose to his feet, ready to argue with the owner of the Porsche—only to freeze again.
Behind the slowly descending window appeared an exceptionally alluring face. It was none other than the stunning mistress who had thrown herself into his arms in front of the administration building that morning.
The anger in Chu Fei’s heart immediately withered. He gave a bitter laugh, and his first instinct was to turn around and leave.
But the woman refused to let him go. After lowering the window, she shouted at him, “Bastard, stop right there!”
“What do you want?” Chu Fei turned back and looked at her with an exasperated expression.
“What’s your name?” the woman asked coldly.
“My name is Chu Fei.” He did not bother hiding it. Then he grinned. “What are you planning to do? Take revenge on me, or have you become addicted to it?”
“You’re the one who’s addicted! Your whole family is addicted!” the woman cursed. She glared at him through clenched teeth, her eyes darting about as if she were thinking of something.
“You’re crazy.” Chu Fei shook his head and turned to leave.
“So your name is Chu Fei? I’ll remember you.”
The woman’s voice suddenly came from behind him. Then the Porsche roared away, once again blasting a mouthful of exhaust into Chu Fei’s face.
She’ll remember me? What was that supposed to mean?
Chu Fei was utterly baffled, but he soon lost interest in thinking about it. Instead, he watched the luxury car disappear into the distance and clicked his tongue.
She claimed not to be a mistress, yet even the way she drove was so aggressive. But wasn’t she a little too wealthy? She could afford a sports car worth several million?
Were university administrators really this rich nowadays?
Chu Fei silently grumbled to himself and could not help recalling what Jiang Xue had told him. That woman was the mistress of the director of academic affairs.
Still, with a figure and face as extraordinary as hers, perhaps any man would be willing to spend lavishly on her as long as he had the money.
---
The woman’s appearance had only been a minor interlude. After idly dwelling on it for a while, Chu Fei gave up and continued waiting.
More than twenty minutes later, a woman’s sedan finally appeared. Behind the window was another charming and attractive face, though it was clearly a level below that of the mistress from earlier. It also carried a distinct chill.
“Get in.”
Xiao Jing’s expression was as cold as ever, as if the entire world owed her something.
Chu Fei did not take offense. He walked around to the other side, opened the door, and got in.
“Where are we going?” he asked directly.
“You don’t know?” Xiao Jing started the car and glanced at him strangely when she heard his question.
“Know what?” Chu Fei asked, completely confused.
Xiao Jing looked at him and nodded, but did not answer. She merely said calmly, “You’ll know when we get there.”
Then she turned back and concentrated on driving, ignoring him completely.
More than ten minutes passed. Apart from their first few exchanges, Xiao Jing remained silent, apparently intending to stay that way.
Chu Fei found the oppressive silence unbearable and decided to make conversation.
“I really didn’t expect you to be such a good driver.”
He glanced at the scenery rushing past the window. He was being completely sincere. Xiao Jing’s driving skills were genuinely impressive—she was fast, yet steady enough to race professionally.
“Not bad,” Xiao Jing replied indifferently.
“Hey, do you never smile?” Chu Fei turned to look at her alluring face, which showed not the slightest hint of a smile, and asked curiously.
It was such a beautiful face, yet she always wore an icy expression. What a waste. The mistress from earlier, on the other hand, had looked so captivating when she smiled.
Damn. Why was he thinking about that woman again?
Chu Fei cursed himself inwardly, though he had to admit that the mistress really was extraordinary. Among all the mature women he had ever met, she was the most alluring by far.
Especially the way she had sat in that Porsche, like a proud peacock. Who could have guessed what she did for a living?
“...”
Unfortunately, Xiao Jing ignored the remark entirely.
“Has anyone ever praised you and told you that you’re beautiful?” Chu Fei continued, desperately searching for something to say.
“...”
Ignored again.
“You really are quite attractive. You have a pretty face, a full chest, and a nicely shaped backside. You meet all the standards of a beautiful woman.”
As he spoke, Chu Fei deliberately glanced at her ample breasts.
This time, Xiao Jing finally reacted. She turned her head and frowned at him, but still said nothing before turning back to the road.
No reaction even to that?
Chu Fei found it unbelievable. His last remark had clearly carried an unmistakable tone of provocation. He had said it deliberately because Xiao Jing’s icy silence was making him feel suffocated.
He had not expected her to remain completely unmoved.
With nothing better to do, Chu Fei continued, “By the way, judging from your clothes and your age, you must be married, right?”
“...”
Still no answer.
“Hmm, you probably are married. I just don’t understand how your husband puts up with you being so cold all the time. You’re like a block of ice.”
When no reply came, Chu Fei began talking to himself. He refused to believe Xiao Jing could keep silent forever.
“...”
Xiao Jing continued driving with her eyes fixed straight ahead, acting as if the fly beside her did not exist.
Damn!
Chu Fei was baffled. If she had been any normal woman, she would certainly have snapped back at him by now. Xiao Jing really was different.
Gritting his teeth, Chu Fei looked at her alluring face and continued, “You’re completely devoid of romance. How does your husband even sleep with you? Do you two never do it? With that attitude of yours, if I were your husband, I wouldn’t be able to get excited either. And without being excited, how could you do anything? Come to think of it, do you have some kind of problem in that area? Are you incapable of having sex, or are you naturally frigid...?”
“Shut up!”
Xiao Jing suddenly turned her head and interrupted him. Her beautiful eyes were icy cold.
Even Chu Fei was startled by that freezing glare. So she did react after all—but when she did, she was terrifying.
Still, he refused to back down and laughed. “I was only speaking from personal observation. Just look at you—”
Before he could finish, the car suddenly slammed on the brakes and stopped by the roadside. Chu Fei lurched forward and nearly struck the windshield.
He was just about to lose his temper when Xiao Jing turned her head and said coldly, “Get out.”
“What?”
Chu Fei stared at her in disbelief, then glanced out at the elevated highway.
Get out here? Was she joking?
“If you don’t get out, I’ll drive straight off the bridge!”
As she spoke, Xiao Jing suddenly stepped on the accelerator.
“Damn! I’m getting out! I’m getting out, all right?”
The hair on Chu Fei’s body stood on end. His skills might be excellent, but that did not mean he was immune to death. If the car plunged from an elevated highway more than twenty meters high, it would explode on impact. Surviving that would take a miracle.
“Roar!”
The Porsche sped away, leaving Chu Fei standing there in utter misery.
He had taken things too far. He had assumed Xiao Jing would simply ignore him, but instead, the woman had exploded.
Damn it. What was he supposed to do now?
Chu Fei stood on the roadside of the elevated highway, watching the endless stream of traffic pass by. The view was the same in both directions, with no end in sight. He was completely torn.
At last, he sighed and began walking forward.
After he had gone only a short distance, his eyes suddenly lit up. Xiao Jing’s Porsche was actually reversing toward him, moving at an outrageously fast speed.
Even Chu Fei clicked his tongue at the sight. This woman’s driving really was impressive. Who reversed at full speed on an elevated highway?
A moment later, the Porsche stopped beside him.
Chu Fei immediately put on a smile and hurried over to open the door. It would not budge. The doors had been locked from inside.
He had only just frozen in surprise when the window rolled down. A small hand tossed out a slip of paper, accompanied by Xiao Jing’s cold voice.
“That’s the address.”
The window rose again at once. Then, with a deafening roar, the Porsche spewed another cloud of black exhaust and vanished toward the end of the elevated highway.
This time, she was truly leaving—accelerating away without the slightest hesitation, overtaking one car after another along the way.
Chu Fei held the slip of paper bearing an address and nearly burst into tears.
Damn it, this time he really had gone too far. If he had known Xiao Jing would react so violently, he would never have kept teasing her. It had only been a joke. Was there really any need for this?
He thought back over what he had said earlier. It had indeed been somewhat excessive—but only somewhat. Anyone with common sense would have known he was joking and would not have taken it seriously.
Yet Xiao Jing had lost her temper, and not just a little.
Could he have accidentally hit a sore spot?
Chu Fei’s thoughts ran wild. In the end, he let out a long sigh and continued walking along the elevated highway.
Having an address was useless. The highway stretched for several kilometers at least. With his abilities, he could probably jump down without dying, but that would be far too shocking. In broad daylight, Chu Fei had no desire to be mistaken for some kind of superhuman and cause an unnecessary commotion.
He had no choice but to run.
After walking for a while, Chu Fei began his miserable jog.
P.S. Tomorrow’s update will be posted at night instead of noon. Please forgive me, everyone! Tomorrow, Xing’er and Little Star will be celebrating their birthdays together, so we’re going out to have some fun. Please be understanding, all right?
