Chapter 123: The Demonic Sect of the Four Directions
“Consuming one hundred magical artifacts…” Silent Wind gasped, feeling a chill run down his spine. Upon reflection, it made sense—such a powerful attack could only come from a top-tier spiritual weapon.
At the thought of a top-tier spiritual weapon, Silent Wind’s gaze shifted toward Yun Xuan, now tinged with greed. If he could kill Yun Xuan here and claim that supreme weapon, he might ascend to the rank of Martial Sovereign. That attack should belong to a top-tier spiritual weapon, not the one wielded by the man before him.
The greed swelling within him became uncontrollable, and his fingers curled into claws behind his back.
“Fellow cultivator, this is hardly the place for a conversation. It’s better you come down and talk with the friend upstairs,” Silent Wind said, lowering his head.
“Talk? You truly believe you have the strength to negotiate with me? It seems you have yet to fully comprehend the power of the Divine Clan,” Yun Xuan remarked, catching the fleeting greed in Silent Wind’s eyes as he gestured to the figure above.
The Four Directions Demon Sect had long been a scourge, and eradicating such evil was a task Huihui undertook with ease.
Yun Xuan’s body surged upward, soaring into the sky.
“Damn it! Just a little closer… If only I could drag them to the ground, I might stand a chance of obtaining a top-tier spiritual artifact…” Silent Wind muttered under his breath. When he looked up, his entire being froze.
“Crimson Black Flame, Sovereign of the Ten Thousand Realms! When the fire of heaven and earth roars, I embody the principle of universal response, transforming into the name of ruin and destruction. The hammer of karmic fire descends into my palm. Explosion!” Huihui’s chant concluded, and as if layers of magical arrays overlapped, a colossal beam of light shot toward the Four Directions Demon Sect.
“No!” Silent Wind shouted, feeling the searing magical power and realizing he was merely a Martial Emperor.
Boom! The outer perimeter of the Four Directions Demon Sect was struck head-on. Not a single soul survived. The explosive magic obliterated buildings and people within a fifty-meter radius at the core.
“Silent Wind, prepare five copies of the Profound-level cultivation techniques and five copies of the heart methods, one hundred profound iron weapons, along with two storage rings, and lastly, Liu Mei. I’ll give you one day. If you fail to deliver, the Four Directions Demon Sect will cease to exist,” Yun Xuan’s voice echoed from above. When Silent Wind glanced up again, Yun Xuan, Huihui, and the research institute had vanished.
“Damn Liu Mei! If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have provoked such a formidable enemy!” Silent Wind gritted his teeth. As the head of the Four Directions Demon Sect, this time he intended to use his power to suppress the elders’ dissent.
…
One hour later.
Inside the grand hall of the Four Directions Demon Sect.
Everyone heard Yun Xuan’s voice. They had already witnessed the destructive power of the explosive magic and electromagnetic cannon. In this harsh world where the strong prey on the weak, submission was their only choice.
“I will personally handle matters concerning Liu Mei. Rest assured, Sect Leader,” the senior elder said through gritted teeth.
“Gather the remaining items quickly. At all costs, we must quell the wrath of the Divine Clan. The Tianxing Kingdom’s affairs will have to wait,” Silent Wind said expressionlessly.
All the elders understood clearly: the Four Directions Demon Sect could not afford to provoke the Divine Clan. As for the death of disciples—it was merely collateral damage to the outer buildings. The Divine Clan’s strike was likely meant to intimidate them.
Silent Wind’s guess was correct. Yun Xuan’s attack was indeed a warning. Had the explosive magic struck the core area, wiping out the key disciples, Silent Wind would have gone mad, and so would the entire sect.
How did they know this? Yun Xuan had gathered much information from the capital of the Great Treasure Kingdom.
…
Having left the Four Directions Demon Sect, Yun Xuan entered the research institute nestled atop a high mountain, shrouded in invisibility.
Huihui lay weakly in a swimming pool, drained of energy, while Yun Xuan stepped into the laboratory to continue his study of the artificial warrior project.
Night fell. Yun Xuan and Huihui dined together.
“By the way, can’t your magical power recover quickly? That way, you could cast explosive magic multiple times,” Yun Xuan casually asked.
“Magic stones can restore magical power, but they’re expensive… I can’t afford them,” Huihui blushed. Before meeting Yun Xuan, she had struggled greatly. Despite being a Grand Magus, no team wanted her.
“Magic stones? Substances that contain energy?” Yun Xuan’s eyes lit up.
“Yes. The magical power in magic stones is said to be very pure. I’ve never used one, but villagers have spoken of them, as well as power storage devices, which seem very costly,” Huihui said wistfully.
“This world has spirit stones. I wonder if you can use them as a substitute for magic stones,” Yun Xuan smiled.
“Really? They actually exist?” Huihui became excited. With plenty of magic stones, she could cast explosive magic freely.
“Tomorrow, we’ll hunt powerful beasts and exchange their spirit stones,” Yun Xuan nodded.
Spirit stones were used by martial artists. One spirit stone was worth about a thousand gold coins. They served as currency among martial artists and were treasured by the wealthy.
Spirit stones had many uses: cultivation and replenishing true qi, though using spirit stones for true qi was less effective than pills and quite time-consuming.
Both the Great Treasure Kingdom and Tianxing Kingdom had the Jiuzhou Pavilion, an enterprise from the Jiuzhou Kingdom. The Jiuzhou Kingdom was the strongest in the Northern Region, boasting Martial Sovereign-level experts. Smaller states dared not touch Jiuzhou Pavilion’s business because Martial Emperors and many Great Martial Artists guarded it.
They traded beast cores, magical artifacts, spiritual weapons, pills, and rare materials.
Jiuzhou Pavilion had a stellar reputation and had never confiscated customers’ goods.
Yun Xuan planned to hunt some beasts. The value of beast cores depended on luck. Beast cores were located at the throat—a fact Yun Xuan hadn’t anticipated.
All this information came from Yun Xuan’s inquiries and Long Qian’s accounts.
Originally, a summoning contract would have allowed Yun Xuan to use Long Qian’s power, but his body was too fragile to bear the blood dragon’s force.
…
The next morning.
“Puff! Puff! Puff!” Huihui watched as Bai Xue charged at the beast, surprised by her strength.
A second-tier beast collapsed. With a flick of her long sword, Bai Xue dislodged the core, which fell into the mouth of the demonic wolf, Erha.
Third-tier beast cores were more valuable. For now, the second-tier cores served Erha well—it was nearly third-tier.
“I won’t lose to Bai Xue either!” Huihui, clad in powered armor and wielding a long sword, charged at a beast.
Yun Xuan lay on Erha’s back, enjoying the surge of experience points, occasionally cheering on Huihui, much to her chagrin.
“Leveling up like this isn’t bad. Next time, we’ll head to the post-apocalyptic world to retrieve those chips and then form a task force,” Yun Xuan said lazily, sipping cold juice.
The post-apocalyptic realm had slaves controlled by chips that governed their minds. Yun Xuan wanted Liu Mei for precisely that purpose.
These chips couldn’t bypass strength, of course. If the chip failed to implant, it was useless.
“I wonder if Long Qian knows secret arts to control others. Sometimes technology just doesn’t cut it,” Yun Xuan mused, gazing at the clear sky. The weather was pleasant today.
