Chapter 12: Not Drawing Sketches Is a Waste of Talent
"Qin Yue, don’t worry. I’ll do the psychological test with you," Yun Xuan said after walking a few steps.
"Thank you, Yun Xuan," Qin Yue replied softly, head lowered.
"No need to be so polite," Yun Xuan waved his hand.
The two returned to their classroom, where the atmosphere was oddly tense.
Qin Yue went back to her seat, laid her head on her desk, and said nothing.
"Yun Xuan, you’re amazing! You actually beat Liu Mengyan!"
"Yeah, if it were me, I’d be terrified."
"Yun Xuan, do you have any drawing tips?"
The moment Yun Xuan sat down, boys and girls alike crowded around him, eyes shining with admiration.
"Well… I don’t really have any special tricks. I just like it, so I’ve learned as I go," Yun Xuan scratched his head.
"How long have you been drawing, Yun Xuan?" asked a girl who also loved art.
"About seven years, I guess. I used to practice secretly," Yun Xuan replied after thinking for a moment.
Lin Qingyu almost burst out laughing at the side—seven years? More like not even seven days.
"Seven years… then it’s too late for me," the art-loving girl sighed.
"Yun Xuan…" Someone entered from outside the classroom.
"Liu Mengyan…" Yun Xuan felt a little awkward.
All his classmates quickly slipped back to their seats—discussing her defeat right in front of Liu Mengyan? None of these bystanders dared offend this young lady.
"Yun Xuan, I lost our bet earlier. You can name any condition… even a date is fine…" Liu Mengyan stammered, her face flushing red as she finished.
"A date is fine…" All the boys in the class stared at Yun Xuan with envy.
"Well…" Yun Xuan felt their gazes on him but ignored them, thinking about his next move.
"Yun Xuan, if you’re still angry about what happened before, I’m willing to apologize publicly in front of the whole school," Liu Mengyan bit her lip, thinking Yun Xuan still blamed her for the past.
"That’s not necessary. I’ve decided—Liu Mengyan, let’s just be friends," Yun Xuan walked over, extending his hand.
"You… I understand," Liu Mengyan shook his hand, her face pale. Just friends, then?
…
That afternoon was dedicated to cleaning the campus at St. Yuliu High School; each class was assigned a specific area, a longstanding tradition.
Due to his injured hand, Yun Xuan was excused by the homeroom teacher and allowed to do as he liked.
He made his way to the rooftop of the academic building, sat in a chair, and gazed at the three tasks displayed on his virtual screen.
Main Quest 1: Within three months, raise one girl with an overall rating above seven to 80% affection. Reward: Silver-tier ability draw. Failure: One month in girls’ clothing.
Side Quest 1: Gain friendships—reach 50% affection with five girls rated above seven. Reward: Random Bronze-tier ability upgraded to intermediate.
Achievement Quest: Surpass 100,000 fans. Reward: 100 exchange points (achieved).
Surpass 1,000,000 fans. Reward: 1,000 exchange points.
"Now that I have 100 exchange points, I can officially begin. Still, what a coincidence," Yun Xuan thought as he looked at the three novels available for 100 points, all original works of anime he’d seen before.
The most classic among them was a horror anime. If he hadn’t seen another film series, he would have hailed this as a masterpiece.
This anime, adapted from a novel, blended mystery, suspense, and horror.
"Exchange," Yun Xuan murmured, leaning back in his chair.
The cat-eared girl smacked him on the head, transmitting the original novel straight into his mind.
Yun Xuan closed his eyes, the entire book appearing vividly—naturally, in Chinese…
"Can I upload the whole book to my phone?" Yun Xuan felt too lazy to type it out.
"Transferring requires 10 exchange points," the cat-eared girl said, floating in the air.
"Is the novel the same as the manga?" Yun Xuan asked curiously.
"Currently, manga cannot be transferred to relevant devices," she replied.
"…Alright." Yun Xuan decided not to upload the novel for now.
The main quest was most important—its penalty was harsh. Side quests had none, and achievement quests even less so.
Three months to raise a girl’s affection to 80%, essentially falling in love—no matter how he looked at it, Liu Mengyan seemed the only candidate.
Her status as a young lady could be disregarded, but what she’d done to her ex was truly excessive.
"Qin Yue might be another breakthrough. A possessive girl is easy to win over, but… pursuing others around her is dangerous," Yun Xuan pondered.
"Does Yun Xue count?" Yun Xuan’s eyes lit up.
"Yun Xue’s affection exceeds 80%; she cannot be included," the cat-eared girl reminded him.
"Over 80% affection!" Yun Xuan was stunned. At that level, a confession would be accepted—she might even confess herself.
"Yun Xuan?" A girl approached.
Her long purple hair fluttered, and though her features were plain, the overall effect with her hair was striking—her figure, a bit slim compared to the average high school girl.
She wore the St. Yuliu High uniform, holding a rolled-up drawing.
"Hello, Chiba Qingxue," Yun Xuan greeted her by name.
"Thank you for your drawing. I’ll treasure it," Chiba Qingxue said, taking a seat on the chair beside him.
"You’re too kind. Chiba Qingxue, you’re much prettier than your portrait," Yun Xuan smiled.
"Yun Xuan, I… have a favor to ask," Chiba Qingxue suddenly lowered her head, blushing.
"Go ahead, Chiba. If I can do it, I will," Yun Xuan replied with a smile.
"Could you draw… a doujin of you and Lin Qingyu? I… I really like that kind of thing. I’ll buy it, no matter the price," Chiba Qingxue looked up, her face alight with excitement.
Yun Xuan’s forehead darkened—now he remembered why Chiba Qingxue was ostracized in class!
Indeed, Chiba Qingxue was a die-hard fujoshi, obsessed with boys’ love stories.
Apparently, her “evangelism” in class made everyone keep their distance—even the boys were wary; only Lin Qingyu occasionally said hello.
"Chiba Qingxue, my preferences are quite normal. I could draw, but not the kind you hope for—certainly not anything R-rated," Yun Xuan replied, forcing a smile at her eager expression.
"Sigh, Yun Xuan, what a waste of talent. If I could draw, I’d definitely make a doujin of you and Lin Qingyu," Chiba Qingxue sighed.
“So drawing doujin is the true purpose of art?” Yun Xuan thought wryly to himself.
