Chapter 13: The Powers of the Primordial Reincarnation Tree
In the blink of an eye, those supple, vine-like branches had climbed all over Ye Haoyu’s body, binding him tightly. Ye Junlin manipulated the branches of the Ancient Reincarnation Tree, lifting Ye Haoyu into the air. Now, completely deprived of any fighting strength by the dense branches restraining him, Ye Haoyu stared vacantly at Ye Junlin, his face filled with terror.
“How can this be? Ye Junlin, how are you so powerful? Weren’t you the most useless one in the Ye family?” Ye Haoyu’s voice trembled with disbelief. “Were you pretending? Have you been pretending all these years?”
He shook his head frantically, unable to comprehend the reality before him.
Pretending? The most useless waste?
“No matter if it was an act or not, Ye Junlin will no longer pretend,” Junlin replied, his eyes locked onto Ye Haoyu’s desperate struggles, the murderous intent growing ever stronger within them.
As their cold gazes met, Ye Haoyu felt a chill crawl down his spine.
“Ye Junlin, you coward—you actually want to kill me?” he spat, his voice full of panic. “My father is the Fifth Elder of the Ye family. My third uncle is the manager of the Dan Treasure Pavilion. If you kill me today, they will never let you off.”
“And there’s my brother, Ye Muchen—he’s a master at the Eighth Stage of Meridian Opening. He’s waiting for me near the Dan Treasure Pavilion. He saw me come to cause trouble for you just now. If I die here at your hands, you won’t be able to hide it.”
“If my brother finds my corpse in your courtyard, you’re finished.”
Ye Junlin watched as Ye Haoyu’s face grew increasingly twisted.
Hearing Ye Haoyu’s threats, Ye Junlin’s expression darkened.
“Hah! Even at death’s door, you still dare to act so arrogant in front of me?” Ye Junlin sneered. “Die!”
With a cold laugh, Ye Junlin let out a guttural roar.
A branch of the Ancient Reincarnation Tree pierced straight through Ye Haoyu’s neck.
Struck fatally, Ye Haoyu’s eyes widened in shock, staring blankly at Ye Junlin.
Never in his wildest dreams had Ye Haoyu imagined that the usually timid Ye Junlin would actually dare to kill him.
His head drooped lifelessly.
But at that moment, Ye Junlin sensed the Ancient Reincarnation Tree transmitting a powerful yearning for Ye Haoyu’s physical body.
What was this? Did the Ancient Reincarnation Tree wish to devour Ye Haoyu’s flesh?
Ye Junlin’s heart thudded violently as the thought flashed through his mind.
Realizing this possibility, his breathing grew rapid, and a hint of anticipation flickered in his eyes.
He stopped deliberately controlling the tree’s branches.
Freed from restraint, the Ancient Reincarnation Tree acted on instinct, swiftly writhing around Ye Haoyu’s corpse.
In an instant, Ye Haoyu’s body was enveloped tightly, forming a giant, emerald-green cocoon suspended in the air.
Soon, Ye Junlin felt countless roots grow from the vines, burrowing directly into Ye Haoyu’s flesh.
They began to devour the nutrients within his body—his life force, his dantian, and the spiritual energy within his flesh were all rapidly consumed.
Within only two or three breaths, Ye Haoyu’s body was utterly devoured, leaving nothing behind.
Is this the power of the Ancient Reincarnation Tree? How domineering!
Living people, consumed and vanished just like that?
Ye Junlin’s eyes widened, his heart surging with awe and disbelief.
The branches returned to Ye Junlin’s palm and then to his dantian, carrying the absorbed life force and spiritual energy as nourishment for the tree.
Before his very eyes, fresh buds sprouted across the tree, and it grew noticeably taller.
The majority of spiritual energy absorbed from Ye Haoyu’s dantian was generously bestowed upon the colossal Ancient Demon Ape residing in Ye Junlin’s dantian.
The Demon Ape, having refined ten Nourishing Pills but not yet spawned another golden serpent, now, upon absorbing this spiritual energy, produced a sixth golden serpent.
A sixth golden serpent?
Ha! Another breakthrough awaits me, Ye Junlin!
He gazed at the six golden serpents rapidly slithering around the towering Demon Ape within his dantian, and could no longer restrain a hearty laugh.
“Haha! I never imagined the Ancient Reincarnation Tree possessed such abilities. It can even devour the power within a cultivator’s dantian for its own use!”
“With this incredible power, I, Ye Junlin, have gained yet another shortcut in my cultivation!”
Outwardly calm, Ye Junlin was inwardly dancing with excitement.
“Hehe, Master, does this second gift from Yingying satisfy you?” Suddenly, Yingying’s voice echoed in Ye Junlin’s mind.
What? Yingying can communicate with me like this?
“Ha! It’s perfect, Yingying—it’s truly remarkable!”
“With the Ancient Reincarnation Tree, I am certain to defeat Ye Jingyue in the family competition in twenty days.”
“I will reclaim the Dragon-Tiger Token!”
His fists clenched tighter, confidence swelling within him for the upcoming family tournament, and a deep anticipation lighting his face.
“Brother, now that we’ve killed Ye Haoyu, his brother Ye Muchen will surely come for us soon.”
“Brother, hurry! Before Ye Muchen realizes what’s happened, you must go and hide!”
Ye Xiaoya stared at Ye Junlin for a long moment, finally snapping out of her shock, anxiety and worry etched across her face as she urged him.
“Yes, Brother Ye, Ye Muchen will soon sense something is wrong—you should take cover,” Ye Chuan and Uncle Fu said, equally concerned.
