“Awooo—!”
The Ice Blizzard Bear howled to the sky. The wound that had been over three meters long was instantly torn open to more than five meters, blood gushing like a fountain, spraying into the air!
“Roar—!”
The Snowstorm Tiger also let out a furious roar.
Though it hadn’t been hit, it seized this fleeting opportunity to pounce fiercely at the Ice Blizzard Bear, opening its massive jaws—capable of swallowing seven or eight men whole—and bit down hard on the bear’s neck.
Fangs over a foot long sank deep into the Ice Blizzard Bear’s flesh, making it cry out in pain and roar once more at the sky. Its huge paws slammed again and again at the Snowstorm Tiger.
But its bloodshot eyes were fixed relentlessly on the little figure fleeing at great speed, filled with boundless hatred.
“Negative emotion from Ice Blizzard Bear, +999!”
As Lin Fan dashed away, the system prompt suddenly sounded in his mind, making him pause for a moment, but he quickly picked up his pace.
During his escape, he realized what a Minor Life Essence Pill was. If a Life Essence Pill could heal any injury below the Meridian Unblocking Realm in an instant, then a Minor Life Essence Pill could instantly heal all wounds below the Qi Vein Realm!
In short, whether it was a Life Essence Pill or a Minor Life Essence Pill, for someone at his current mid-stage Qi Gathering cultivation, there was no difference.
“Awoo—!”
The Ice Blizzard Bear bellowed, its paw slamming down hard on the Snowstorm Tiger’s back, gouging wound after wound down to the bone. Blood splattered everywhere, covering the two snowy beasts in crimson, making it impossible to tell whose blood was whose.
As a fourth-tier beast, the Snowstorm Tiger possessed intelligence equal to that of humans. Having sunk its fangs into the Ice Blizzard Bear’s throat, it would not let go—
It knew this was its only chance; otherwise, death was certain!
The Ice Blizzard Bear understood as well. Because of that small human’s interference, the Snowstorm Tiger had managed to bite its throat—a fatal predicament.
If it didn’t kill the Snowstorm Tiger soon, it would likely die itself!
It was as if a tiger, normally no match for a grizzly, had by unexpected chance managed to bite the grizzly’s throat. Though the grizzly’s hide was thick and flesh tough, a tiger’s fangs were not to be underestimated.
Now, either the Snowstorm Tiger would bite through the Ice Blizzard Bear’s throat and defeat a stronger foe, or the Ice Blizzard Bear would crush the Snowstorm Tiger into pulp before its throat was torn out!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The bear’s massive paws slammed down repeatedly, each swipe of its meter-long, blade-like claws sending blood and bone flying from the Snowstorm Tiger.
Yet no matter how it struck or tore, the Snowstorm Tiger’s jaws remained locked, all its strength focused on crushing the bear’s throat.
Its breathing was growing labored, making it attack even more savagely, tearing and battering.
But what worried it most was not the bear, but that human—and the direction he was fleeing…
“Awoo—!”
“Awoo—!”
At last, the Ice Blizzard Bear unleashed its most thunderous and savage roar since its appearance. Both paws crashed down again on the Snowstorm Tiger.

Crack—!
A wail of agony burst from the Snowstorm Tiger as its entire spine was shattered by the blow.
Yet its eyes glinted with searing hatred; even so, its bite only grew more ferocious, as if determined to die with the Ice Blizzard Bear.
The bear’s eyes were blood-red, and seeing the tiny human vanish completely into the distance, its enormous paws—with claws sharp as blades—suddenly plunged deep into the Snowstorm Tiger’s body.
Squelch!
Blood sprayed everywhere!
The Snowstorm Tiger, in agony, unleashed a tremendous force of its jaws, its fangs biting halfway through the bear’s throat.
Unfortunately, the Ice Blizzard Bear gave it no further chance. Fearing the human would steal its opportunity to advance to a fifth-tier beast, it gambled everything.
With all its might, the bear’s paws and claws hooked deep within the tiger tore outward—
Squelch—!
The bear ripped the Snowstorm Tiger off its own body, tearing away with it half its own throat and a chunk of flesh from the tiger’s jaws.
Blood and flesh flew!
Blood gushed in torrents!
But the Ice Blizzard Bear could not care; terrified that the human would seize its fortune, it had to rush back at all costs!
The Snowstorm Tiger had, with its last strength, bitten through the bear’s throat, but the bear would not die instantly—it still had time to struggle.
If it could only get back and swallow its fortune, its wounds would heal. Though it might not break through to the fifth tier, it could at least reach the late fourth tier.
Better that than letting the human take it!
Thus, in an instant of mutual destruction, the bear risked its life, wrenching the Snowstorm Tiger off—along with half its own throat.
At once, a paw with five razor-sharp claws crashed down with a crunch into the tiger’s skull, ending its life.
The Snowstorm Tiger collapsed without time for a final scream, its body limp as mud…

When Lin Fan first fled, learning about the Minor Life Essence Pill, he suddenly changed direction and ran toward the center of the territory.
He realized that for two fourth-tier beasts to fight so desperately, even to the edge of their lands, it could only be because one had invaded the other’s territory to steal some rare fortune.
Such a fortune was almost certainly a powerful spiritual treasure or a peerless herb!
This was an opportunity!
This was destiny!
Lin Fan would never let it slip by. The point of trials was not just life-or-death combat, but also seeking out such fortunes.
Now, with the two beasts locked in deadly struggle, no one—or nothing—was guarding their fortune.
If he moved quickly enough, it would be his for the taking!

So, in a flash, he changed course and sped toward the heart of the territory, determined to claim the fortune before the beasts could settle their fight.
Moreover, feeling his wounds nearly recovered, he smirked.
Even if the Ice Blizzard Bear managed to return, there was no telling who would live or die!
After its battle with the Snowstorm Tiger, the bear was injured. Normally, it could kill him with ease, but he had created a chance for the tiger to bite its throat.
Everyone knows—the heart, brain, and throat are lethal points for humans, animals, and all beasts alike!
He was certain that even if the bear returned, it would be gravely wounded.
The faster it hurried back, the worse its condition would be.
Lin Fan moved at incredible speed, his body flickering with afterimages, crossing several miles in just a few breaths.
After a few more breaths, he was nearly out of the range of the dragon pines. A deafening roar of water thundered in his ears, making his eyes light up.
He kicked off the ground, shattering the earth beneath him, and in a flash leapt past the final dragon pine.
Rumble—!
A waterfall, dozens of meters high, cascaded down in a torrent, crashing into the deep pool below with a booming sound.
All around, for a kilometer, was deep water. Above, the waterfall; beside the pool, enormous boulders. Near the waterfall’s drop, there was a vast cavern.
The entrance stood seventy or eighty meters tall, five or six dozen meters wide—far too large to call a mere cave for someone of Lin Fan’s height. “Cavern Heaven” would be a better term.
With no hesitation, Lin Fan knew at once this was the Ice Blizzard Bear’s lair—only a creature of such size would require a den so vast.
And the fortune he sought was likely inside. Lin Fan darted inside.
The cave was bitterly cold, with ice crystals forming on the rocks; the deeper he went, the colder it became.
After perhaps five hundred meters, Lin Fan’s eyes shone—before him lay a small pool, and within it, a purple lotus bud, about to bloom!
The pool was not water; Lin Fan recognized it as Millennium Ice Essence.
Ice Essence had many uses: consumed directly, it could temper the body; it could temper magical weapons; it could also be refined into pills.
In short, its effects were numerous and extraordinarily powerful!
Forming Ice Essence took at least ten years, in a place brimming with chill and spiritual energy. Most importantly, Ice Essence was always found with a Meridian Lotus.
To determine the age of Ice Essence, one looked at the lotus: a pink lotus meant ten years, a red lotus a hundred years—and the Ice Essence would match.
A purple lotus, however, signified a thousand years, and so the Ice Essence was of the millennium as well!
