Chapter 63: Getting Carried Away, Gradually Losing Control!
“All right, everyone, thank you for joining the show. Tonight’s dinner is provided by the production team, so there’s no need to use your romance cards.”
No sooner had the words left his lips than the guests scattered in a flash, leaving only Si Shaozhe standing there, looking like he had something to say but hesitated.
Lin Jia glanced back at him, about to suggest they go eat together, but the wounded, almost terrifying look in his eyes made her swallow her words.
“Actually, the meal you worked so hard to prepare could wait for the two guests who went out to return. It could be a special surprise for them?”
Seeing Si Shaozhe finally smile in satisfaction, Lin Jia’s conscience started to prick at her. The food on the table looked more like a collection of culinary disasters. She was afraid that when Lin Yu and Ji Ya returned, they might just break down in tears on the spot.
Still, it might not matter. With the romantic music already prepared and the carefully set candlelit dinner scene, surely that kind of atmosphere would be irresistible for the two of them?
If Si Shaozhe ended up in tears, it would be their responsibility to console him.
As for the rest of the guests, they too had a different sort of surprise waiting for the two who had gone out. After all… who told the two of them to be so lucky? While everyone else was running themselves ragged trying to earn romance cards, those two got a paid outing?
They really had to prepare something special to make themselves feel better.
After letting them have their fun, it was only fair to let the others enjoy themselves as well.
Naturally, the staff wouldn’t miss out on such fun. They had long since prepared a grand surprise backstage for the returning guests.
Lin Jia was involved, of course. When she emerged in costume, dressed in purple, her comical appearance had everyone bursting with laughter.
Even Qiu Shishang, who always maintained a cold and aloof demeanor, couldn’t help but tease her, “As expected, purple is always the most enchanting!”
The camera cut to the two guests who were feasting.
Ji Ya was now eyeing the roadside hotpot skewers, eating with relish, chili oil glistening at the corners of her mouth, completely unconcerned with appearances. The fans in the livestream chat were beside themselves, praising Lady Ji for her boldness.
Long live beauty.
No one in the chat could have imagined that a goddess fallen to earth could be so down-to-earth. Watching her eat street food, she suddenly felt accessible, like a normal person you could approach at any time.
Gradually, the mood in the livestream began to shift. Some of Ji Ya’s fans were upset that Lin Yu had taken their goddess to such a low-end place for dinner, and even worse, let her be so exposed in public.
If word got out, and the paparazzi twisted the story, saying that Ji Ya disregarded her company and image by eating junk food on the street, wouldn’t that be a total loss of face? To her fans, their beloved goddess was sacred and untouchable.
Especially with the production crew filming, if this image got out, wouldn’t they be laughed at? If a crowd gathered, it would be even more humiliating.
It was bad enough for Lin Yu to embarrass himself, but to drag Lady Ji down with him—did he not feel any guilt?
“Damn you, Lin Yu! It’s one thing to embarrass yourself, but you took my goddess with you?”
“Ahhh! My goddess—how could you become like this? I can’t accept this development!!”
“Give me back my cool goddess! Ji Ya, the heiress of the entertainment world! Lin Yu, you return her to me!”
“Come on, be a decent person! Someone clarify that my goddess is still a celestial being!!”
“Help! What am I seeing? Somebody draw their sword—Lin Yu, you’re done for!”
“Just die already! Hurry up and die!!”
“What are you all arguing about? Isn’t the point that Lady Ji is really enjoying her food?”
“What’s wrong with a goddess being approachable? This will only make more people like her!”
“Stop fighting and just take it outside!”
Lin Yu was getting roasted by the goddess’s fans, and people at the scene began to notice Ji Ya and the production crew’s cameras.
Ji Ya was so stunning that even as an ordinary person, she would draw attention.
Not to mention, she naturally exuded a powerful aura, as if every spotlight was meant for her. It was impossible not to notice her.
Even while eating something as humble as skewers, her innate elegance shone through—more like a socialite at a French restaurant than a girl at a street stall.
A sharp-eyed girl nearby gaped in disbelief, pointing at Ji Ya, her mouth stuck in a silent “O” for ages, unable to form the next syllable.
Finally, her boyfriend nudged her, mistaking her shock for infatuation with Lin Yu’s looks. His face darkened, and he sneered, “I’m standing right here! Why are you ogling some pretty boy? Is he better looking than me? With me here, isn’t that enough for you? Women really are fickle! So unreliable!”
“That’s… that’s Lady Ji, isn’t it?!”
The girl’s friend screamed, then grabbed her hand in excitement, and the two of them jumped up and down, cheering as if they’d won the lottery.
“Oh my god! It really is Lady Ji!”
“Ahhh, I actually saw my goddess at a street stall! I’m buying a lottery ticket tonight!”
“Big sis, you’re so beautiful! Can I take a photo with you?!”
“Help, she’s breathtaking!”
The girl nervously approached, speaking in a soft, trembling voice.
“Are you… Lady Ji?”
Hearing her name, Ji Ya instinctively looked up, her flawless face tinged with confusion as her eyes met a pair of shy, adoring ones.
She was used to this sort of thing. Since her identity was out, there was no need to hide. She smiled and nodded, “Yes, I’m Ji Ya.”
The girl’s excitement was uncontrollable; she waved her arms, clutched her chest, and slipped into a state of euphoria. Seeing she was about to shriek, Ji Ya quickly gestured for silence to prevent a scene.
“Keep it down, don’t let anyone notice.”
The girl, flustered, covered her mouth, but in her panic her glasses fell to the ground. Suddenly blind without them, she cried, “Help me find my glasses! Please?”
Ji Ya glanced at Lin Yu, who immediately bent down and picked up the glasses, handing them to the girl. She mumbled a hurried “Thanks, mister,” then looked at Ji Ya with stars in her eyes.
“Sis, sis, can I take a picture with you?”
Lin Yu, completely ignored, forced a wry smile. So I’m just a nobody here, huh? Ji Ya’s the real idol? Fine, fine.
When Ji Ya nodded kindly, the girl rummaged frantically in her bag for something to sign. Finding no paper, and giddy with excitement, she simply lifted her shirt. “Sis! Please sign for me! On my back!”
The nearby passersby: ???
Holy hell, are those real? At a glance, those must be at least a D cup! Like two basketballs hanging there!
This girl is truly generous and unrestrained!
