Chapter 31: With Every Vote Cast, Tomorrow Gou Yu Ming Will Make His Debut
The onlookers were already doubled over with laughter, the air filled with boisterous guffaws, the scene utterly out of control.
Qiu Shishang, usually the epitome of mature restraint among celebrities and rarely one to smile, couldn’t help but let a grin spread across his face. The slight curve of his lips, combined with the reserved charm of a handsome, self-disciplined man, only made him seem more masculine than ever.
Meanwhile, the barrage of live comments turned their focus to the instigator, Lin Yu.
“I’m dying here! Dog Yu’s elementary school antics actually had this effect—absolutely hilarious!”
“Who would’ve thought Miss Ji had such a wicked sense of humor! Never trust a woman too easily!”
“Wuwuwu, my icy goddess Ji—how did you get tamed by Dog Yu so quickly?”
“?? The one above, stop spouting nonsense! What do you mean tamed? Don’t insult my goddess!”
“Ah, I want to be sprayed in the face by Chuchu too!”
“Hey, fangirls, don’t you feel sorry for your prince now? The king of love songs just got a faceful!”
“If it’s Chuchu, anything goes~~”
“……”
…
Si Shaozhe, determined to maintain his cool demeanor, found it impossible to keep the smile off his lips. Yet, as he laughed, he suddenly remembered that the second group was up next—their turn. Glancing at his teammate Lin Yunyu, his expression was tinged with contemplation.
Lin Jia called on the staff to record the score for the first round. Wang Fei and Bai Yichu had competed, with Bai Yichu winning, holding out for twenty seconds.
“This is great—now the game is really fun!”
“Hilarious! Who knew this show was so entertaining? My stomach hurts from laughing!”
“Why am I suddenly looking forward to the odd-couple boss and the wild-card artist?”
“How come I can’t find Dog Yu trending? How is someone this hilarious not debuted yet? One vote from you, one from me—Dog Yu will debut tomorrow!”
“+10086 to the one above!!”
“……”
…
The second group stepped onto the stage.
From the outset, Si Shaozhe warned Lin Yunyu in a low voice, “I just had my hair styled—don’t mess up my makeup.”
The difference in their status, coupled with his pampered existence as a rising star, gave Si Shaozhe’s words a hint of admonition.
Lin Yunyu forced a smile, thinking to herself, Isn’t everyone’s makeup freshly done? What artist doesn’t care about their image? Outwardly, she feigned seriousness. “Don’t worry, I’ll do my best.”
Though the intent behind her best efforts remained ambiguous…
Without hesitation, Lin Yunyu pressed her chin against the plate with a loud smack, her gaze predatory as she focused on the pile of flour in the middle, taking a deep breath.
Si Shaozhe’s face immediately changed. With so many female fans watching his every move, if his image got destroyed and his face was covered in flour, how would he ever keep up his aloof persona again?
Seeing Si Shaozhe’s uneasy expression, Lin Yunyu felt a secret delight. She turned aside, exhaling slowly and quietly.
Si Shaozhe relaxed, a confident smirk tugging at his lips. In this circle, strength speaks loudest. Newcomer or not, you’ll have to swallow your pride.
But Lin Yunyu really was swallowing her pride—literally holding her breath for later.
Her innocent, delicate features belied a fierce determination; she was the type to pay back every slight with interest. Women, after all, are not to be underestimated.
When Lin Jia announced the start, Si Shaozhe still looked triumphant, as if victory was assured.
The game commenced. The two faced each other, furiously tapping the plate with their chins, locked in a neck-and-neck contest.
As the action heated up, suddenly, Si Shaozhe raised his hand to block Lin Yunyu’s mouth.
Qiu Shishang’s expression darkened, but mindful of the cameras, he quickly composed himself.
Wang Fei, who’d just been sprayed in the previous round, watched their competition with vengeful amusement, clearly plotting to pull a Lin Yu and let these two taste the same fate.
Just as suddenly, both Si Shaozhe and Lin Yunyu seemed to cool off, a silent truce falling between them.
Meanwhile, Lin Yu was already quietly raising his arm again…
Catching on, Wang Fei shot him a knowing look, recalling his own recent ordeal. Wicked amusement curled his lips, though he restrained himself for the sake of the cameras.
Lin Yu slipped soundlessly behind Wang Fei, pulling him aside. Then, crouching down, he met the eyes of the two contestants head-on.
He took a deep breath—and with a mighty exhale, sent the flour flying like a snowstorm, showering both of their faces.
Si Shaozhe hadn’t even realized what was happening when he saw Lin Yunyu, her face covered in white, bursting into uncontrollable laughter.
Wang Fei, having just raised his hand, seized the chaos to fan the flour wildly, then stood aside, feigning innocence as he watched the flour swirl through the air, unable to contain his laughter.
Lin Yunyu was now dusted in white, and with her trademark wide smile, looked every bit the madwoman. The other guests couldn’t hold back either; laughter erupted all around. Lin Yunyu finally broke, puffing out a mouthful of air and sending the flour squarely onto Si Shaozhe.
In an instant, flour filled the air. The guests, to varying degrees, all caught the fallout. The studio descended into cheerful chaos, while the mastermind, Lin Yu, dashed to hide behind Ji Ya, the closest person.
Ji Ya barely realized what was happening before she was hit full in the face by the white cloud.
Lin Yunyu was in stitches, nearly falling off her chair as she shook with laughter, pointing at Lin Yu the whole time. “Oh my god, you really know how to play!”
Si Shaozhe’s expression was completely hidden beneath the flour, his true feelings unreadable. Yet, perhaps influenced by the laughter around him, he too couldn’t hold back and finally burst out laughing, despite all efforts to restrain himself.
He could clearly feel the flour in his mouth, sticking to his tongue and teeth. If his fans saw him like this, his reputation would be ruined. But at this moment, it was impossible to resist.
Si Shaozhe’s disheveled state only sent the laughter to new heights, the room nearly descending into madness.
The chorus of laughter lifted the mood in the live stream as well.
“I can’t—Dog Yu’s antics are next level! He deserves the title of Prank King!”
“Si Shaozhe looks so ridiculous—I could laugh at this for a whole year!”
“What are you all waiting for? Screenshot now! We can sell these embarrassing pictures for a fortune!”
“I just don’t get it—where are all the fans feeling sorry for their idol now?”
“Wuwuwu, poor guy, dragged onto this show only to get sprayed like that~”
