Chapter 144: Taking You Home
The wife looked at him with a dazed expression. Although she complained, "I'm busy, don't mess around," she turned her back to him with a happy smile.
...
Ji Ya was truly drunk, trapped in a hazy state. She couldn't stand steadily and kept rambling incoherently. Her words were garbled and unintelligible, but it was clear she was trying hard to express something.
"Ah~ mm~ drink~ drink some more!!"
"No one can outdrink me! I am the Goddess of Wine!"
"Oh~~"
Passersby couldn't help but look back at the ethereal beauty, her cheeks flushed pink from intoxication, supported by a handsome man who wore an expression of helplessness mixed with concern.
Lin Yu had to put in a great deal of effort to steady her. As it turned out, when people are drunk, regardless of gender, they become as heavy as a mountain. After managing to get her to sit on the side, he asked her home address several times, but the only response he received was, "Oh, drink!"
Sitting in the bus stop waiting area, she raised her hand, shaping it like a cup, staring up at the sky and pestering an invisible person to keep drinking.
Lin Yu was at his wit's end. He stood with his hands on his hips, pondering. He couldn't just leave her here; despite his frustration, he had to look after her. If something happened to her on the street, he couldn't bear the responsibility, and his conscience wouldn't allow it either.
Having finished her tantrum, she seemed exhausted and slumped onto Lin Yu's shoulder, still muttering something. Lin Yu felt quite helpless, looking at her dazed, sleeping face, which was irresistibly cute. Leave her? That wasn't realistic. With a sigh, he crouched down and held her arms, but his first attempt failed—she had suddenly gone limp, and he couldn't lift her at all.
Finally, he gave in.
"I'll carry you home."
He lifted her up in a bridal carry. The woman, suddenly suspended in mid-air, jolted awake, squinting at him with a barely perceptible smile on her lips.
"Not drinking anymore? No more drinking? Let's go home!"
She was as docile as a cute child, making it impossible not to care for her. With her soft, fragrant presence in his arms and the feel of her breathing, he felt a wave of tenderness, inexplicably feeling as if he were holding a child.
He was afraid of dropping her, afraid of hurting her, and every movement was cautious. Lin Yu carried her through the streets. Under the orange streetlights, her cheeks were bathed in a golden glow. She had fallen into a deep sleep, her breathing steady, her chest rising and falling.
The usually aloof and high-and-mighty CEO was so cute when asleep, completely harmless. Inexplicably, holding her gave him a strange impulse to just keep walking with her, to go further, or to just keep walking forever.
Their figures grew smaller and smaller until Lin Yu’s silhouette finally faded into the streetlights and vanished.
Ji Ya, in his arms, made some incoherent whimpering sounds, and then her slender fingers brushed across Lin Yu's chest. His breath hitched as if he had been electrocuted. His heart raced, and he swallowed hard, remaining in a dazed state for several seconds before slowly regaining his composure.
The heat in his body, the uncontrollable thoughts, and the irresistible, strange sensations grew wild within him. Unbidden emotions bloomed like flowers, and a mysterious chemistry began to spark between the two. The woman in his arms was no longer the high-and-mighty queen of the daytime, but a small woman occasionally in need of a man's sturdy arms for warmth.
Lin Yu had no intention of suppressing the thoughts surging within him. His eyes remained fixed on Ji Ya; it felt as if all the scenery around them was inferior to her in this moment.
Her celestial beauty, even in sleep, held a fatal temptation that made one want to look, and then look again. Her small, oval face was a mystery—how could such delicate features carry such an overbearing aura? When she was serious, a single glance was enough to crush even the craftiest of old foxes. But now, with her eyes closed, she was harmless, as exquisite as a porcelain doll. Her cheeks, with a touch of baby fat, rose and fell with her breath, making one want to touch them, to kiss them.
Although the journey should have only taken about half an hour, Lin Yu deliberately slowed his pace, fearing that any sudden movement would wake this human doll, which would fill him with guilt!
It took about an hour before Lin Yu returned to the company apartment. He carefully climbed the stairs. He had originally planned to put her in the guest room, but since he rarely had visitors, there was no bedding on the bed. The sofa was soft, but he feared she might roll off.
Finally, he returned to his master bedroom. Fortunately, he was a clean man, and since he rarely slept there due to his busy schedule, the bed was relatively neat and clean.
He placed her on the soft bed as if she were a precious treasure, only to hear her whimper again. Her right hand lifted, waving aimlessly, until she instinctively grabbed the corner of his shirt.
Lin Yu, who had just turned to leave, instantly stiffened. Was this woman truly like a baby? Must she always be held, and does she wake the moment she is set down? Or was it his own lack of control that had startled her from her dreams?
While he was still hesitating, he saw her eyes snap open, staring at him with eyes like stars. Lin Yu was caught off guard, staring blankly at her, not daring to move, fearing that if he had woken her, she might pull his ears in a rage!
But he didn't expect what happened next.
Her hand suddenly released, and with a dazed, drunken smile on her lips, she beckoned him with her finger. As he tentatively leaned in, he smelled the strong scent of alcohol, followed by her laughter.
"Drink! Keep drinking!"
"Don't, don't stop!!"
"Hehe, are you not good enough? Can't even outdrink a girl like me!"
"Can you handle it or not, you weakling?"
Mid-sentence, she suddenly lifted both hands and pulled Lin Yu’s neck with a bit of force. Their lips were inches apart. Fortunately, Lin Yu propped himself up on the edge of the bed, preventing any unnecessary accident.
"Lin, Lin Yu!"
She called his name with sudden seriousness, making him tremble. "Yes?"
He looked at her hesitantly, truly unsure of what a drunk woman might do. Suddenly, she leaned into his ear and chuckled, "Drink, let's be carefree, let's have fun~"
The warm breath against his ear made the atmosphere instantly heavy with ambiguity. Lin Yu didn't dare to move, his eyes wide, his hands straining to hold his weight, terrified of accidentally pressing down on her.
He wasn't sure if she was sober or half-asleep, but he knew that if he pressed down, she would certainly wake up fully. It was better to stay gentle.
He lightly stroked her cheek, not daring to speak too loudly.
"I can't drink anymore, boss. No more."
"I'm a weakling, I can't handle it."
