Chapter 40: White Mist Valley, Mysterious Presence

Luo Li and Jun Moxiao stood upon the void, gazing down at the enormous, pitch-black opening below. Gusts of sinister wind poured from it without end, mingled with all manner of terrifying cries.

The two could not help shuddering from head to toe, their young faces turning pale in an instant.

Recalling what their Old Ancestor had said moments earlier, they felt even more horrified.

Could this truly be hell?

The Old Ancestor was far too ruthless... He had actually opened a passage to hell and sent everyone from the Sword God Sect straight inside.

Although Luo Li was frightened, she was also excited.

The old Sword Saint of the Sword God Sect had persecuted the Divine Dragon Sect for hundreds of years, killing several generations of its disciples and sect masters.

He was the Divine Dragon Sect's sworn enemy, guilty of a blood feud.

Even killing him ten thousand times would not have been excessive.

Yet the Old Ancestor had not killed them outright. Instead, he had condemned them to eternal imprisonment in hell, where they would suffer every kind of torture. It was immensely satisfying.

Jun Moxiao gazed at that imposing figure and asked in a trembling voice, "Old Ancestor, is that really hell down there?"

Ye Yun gave a faint smile but did not answer.

Instead, the black horse beside them grew excited. Perhaps the sight of hell had stirred its savage nature.

It actually began muttering to itself, "The master used supreme divine power to create an eighteen-level hell deep beneath the earth. Though it is not the true Netherworld Hell, it is scarcely any different from one."

"I see."

Jun Moxiao touched his chest, his heart surging beyond control.

The Old Ancestor's divine realm was simply too terrifying. He had actually created an eighteen-level hell with supreme divine power!

Jun Moxiao looked toward that imposing figure, his eyes blazing with intense fanaticism.

"Seal!"

Ye Yun softly uttered a single word.

Suddenly, countless clods of earth converged from every direction and poured into the enormous black pit.

In an instant, it was filled.

The Sword God Sect had originally stood atop a magnificent mountain.

Now, both the mountain and the sect had vanished.

The entire place had become a flat plain.

Witnessing such heaven-defying power, Luo Li and Jun Moxiao could not help yearning for it, marveling at the Old Ancestor's might.

"Let us go. We will find Su Wanyi."

With one step, Ye Yun vanished into the void and entered the carriage.

Luo Li and Jun Moxiao hurried after him and took their seats at the front.

Once all three were seated, the black horse leaped into the air on all four hooves, transforming into a streak of black light before vanishing into the distant sky.

Having obtained the old Sword Saint's memories, Ye Yun naturally knew the general location where Su Wanyi had disappeared.

Thus, he sent a strand of divine thought to the black horse.

The black horse raced onward like the wind.

After no more than the time it took to drink a cup of tea, it suddenly came to a halt and turned back with a grin.

"Master, this should be the place, shouldn't it?"

"Mm."

Ye Yun smiled faintly, lifted the carriage curtain, and turned to Luo Li. "Does this place look familiar to you?"

Luo Li studied the surrounding mountain formations. Suddenly, she cried out, "Junior Brother, look! Isn't this where we became separated from Senior Sister?"

Jun Moxiao hurriedly surveyed the surroundings. After several seconds, he confirmed it and quickly nodded.

"Senior Sister, this should be the place. I remember that Senior Sister led the pursuers southeast."

As he spoke, Jun Moxiao pointed in a certain direction.

"Yes, I remember it that way too."

Luo Li slapped her thigh, her eyes shining. "That's right!"

Ye Yun nodded and said softly, "A little over five hundred miles southeast lies a valley shrouded in mist year-round. It is said that most people who enter become lost and find it extremely difficult to leave. Some of those who pursued her also disappeared, while those who were fortunate enough to escape never went after Su Wanyi again..."

"Old Ancestor, is there some powerful entity hidden there?"

Luo Li asked with a solemn expression.

Ye Yun gave her a淡淡 glance and said nothing.

Instead, he softly instructed the black horse, "Little Horse, let us go take a look at that valley."

The black horse's four hooves blurred as it instantly transformed into a streak of black light.

In the blink of an eye, they arrived above a valley.

Clouds roiled, and mist filled the air so thickly that the road ahead could not even be seen.

At Ye Yun's command, the carriage slowly descended into the valley.

"Let us go and have a look ahead."

Ye Yun urged the carriage onward without concern. Deep within his eyes, however, a trace of mockery flickered.

Moments earlier, Ye Yun had extended his powerful divine sense throughout the valley, but he had found no trace of Su Wanyi.

What he had discovered, however, was something extraordinary.

That creature was asleep.

To temper Luo Li and Jun Moxiao's courage and broaden their horizons, Ye Yun did not warn them.

He merely proceeded as usual, directing the black horse into the mist-shrouded valley.

The mist was thick, and visibility within the valley was extremely poor.

"How strange. What sort of place is this? My divine sense cannot extend beyond five meters!"

Seated in the carriage, Jun Moxiao held the reins and continuously scanned their surroundings, his face filled with astonishment.

Luo Li's expression grew solemn.

She brushed back the black hair from her forehead and said softly, "There is something sinister about this place. They say that many people enter and never come out, though some are fortunate enough to escape. I wonder... whether Senior Sister can be that lucky."

Jun Moxiao sighed, his expression sorrowful.

More than three months had passed.

Their Senior Sister was still like a stone sinking into the sea, without the slightest news.

She had probably perished in this mist-shrouded valley as well.

The black carriage moved unhurriedly through the mist.

After they ventured deeper into the valley, all kinds of eerie sounds began to echo from every direction.

Some sounded like children crying. Others resembled the roars of wild beasts. A bewildering medley of noises rose from all around them.

"This place truly is sinister!"

Luo Li drew her sword, vigilance showing on her exquisite face.

This mysterious valley had no name.

It lay on the border between the Ancient Moon Dynasty and the Divine Wind Dynasty, in a region sparsely populated and rarely visited by cultivators.

At the time, the three siblings in cultivation had been escorting their master's ashes when they happened to pass within five hundred miles of this valley.

Luo Li guessed that perhaps...

Their Senior Sister had been injured and, with no other choice, charged headlong into this strange White Mist Valley.

If she had been lucky, perhaps she had managed to escape alive.

If she had not entered the White Mist Valley, she would likely have been caught and killed by the pursuers.

Thinking of what had happened to her Senior Sister, Luo Li's heart filled with grief, and crystalline tears welled from the corners of her eyes.

"Senior Sister, please do not be sad. I believe our Senior Sister possesses tremendous blessings. Something surely could not have happened to her so easily."

Jun Moxiao comforted her from the side.

"Prepare for battle!"

Ye Yun's voice suddenly rang out without warning.

Jun Moxiao and Luo Li were startled.

They saw one enormous black figure after another flying out from within the white mist, each as large as a straw hat.

The two immediately drew their swords and unleashed dozens of sword lights.

Amid a series of shrieks, the black figures were struck one after another. They immediately retreated back into the mist.

"Good heavens! They are enormous fleas!"

After getting a clear look at the black figures, Luo Li was utterly astonished.
