Chapter 57: Her Body Still Warm
Mu Bai looked at Lin Mo from afar across the crowd.
This woman looked identical to his recently deceased fiancée.
Yet her demeanor and behavior were entirely different.
Arrogant, overbearing, treating everyone around her with utter disdain.
Mu Bai clenched his fists.
He walked closer step by step, driven by an impulse that went against his better judgment; somewhere deep down, his rational mind told him it was wrong.
However, his emotions refused to be reined in.
Just looking at her a little longer felt like looking at Lin Mo.
He was filled with such profound regret and agony.
If only he could turn back time.
He would certainly never have let Lin Mo bear such agonizing despair and humiliation unto her death.
Sheng Cang sat down on a stool, making space for Mu Bai.
Lin Wan raised her gaze, meeting Mu Bai's eyes directly.
Mu Bai swallowed hard and said, "Einan, hello."
Lin Mo lowered her gaze and smiled faintly, "Hello."
Mu Bai desperately wanted to get to know her better, yet a woman like this already possessed formidable and intimidating backing.
Just feeling Sheng Cang's piercing gaze made his skin crawl.
If he made any reckless moves, he would likely be the next person dragged away.
"We'll both be in City A from now on. If there's an opportunity, I hope we can collaborate."
"You've achieved such a successful career at such a young age; it's truly admirable."
Lin Mo replied, "Perhaps."
Hesitant, Mu Bai looked at Einan, and the resemblance to Lin Mo grew even stronger in his mind.
Only after losing her had he learned how to cherish.
Looking at Einan,
a voice in his heart whispered: If he had only given Momo a bit more time back then, or treated her a little better,
would she too have blossomed into someone so dazzling and captivating?
"May I add your WeChat?"
Lin Mo offered an amused smile, "Of course. Since you are the second young master of the Mu family, we should have plenty of interactions in the future."
"Thank you." Mu Bai added her as a contact, setting her nickname as Xiaonan.
Her WeChat Moments contained numerous overseas photographs, instantly revealing her to be a privileged young lady of high status.
Gazing at the unfamiliar WeChat interface, Mu Bai felt an inexplicable surge of disappointment.
She truly was not Lin Mo.
He tapped on that dormant WeChat contact within his list.
Her messages still stopped at the very last one where he had urged her to agree to the annulment of their engagement.
Lin Mo's WeChat Moments held only a meager handful of photos, depicting a young woman who remained docile and touching.
Regrettably, she no longer existed.

Amidst his daze,
Xiao Ru came over to fetch her son, grabbing his arm and pulling him out of the crowd.
"Have you lost your mind?" she frowned, saying, "You are merely a junior. Even if you are roughly the same age as her, the gap in your social status and standing is like heaven and earth."
"That Einan is someone who sits on equal footing with your father and the others."
"Don't you dare stir up any more trouble and drag the Mu family down with you."
Xiao Ru was intensely agitated. Just moments before, she had exhausted every ounce of eloquence to finally smooth things over with Hua Wu and Liu Chengfeng!
And the moment she turned around, she discovered that Mu Bai had approached Einan again!
Acting as if he were possessed by a demon.
"I know you can't let go of Lin Mo, but what was Lin Mo's status? What is Einan's status?"
Xiao Ru felt utterly helpless, adding, "And frankly, I simply cannot understand you. When Lin Mo was alive, you hovered around Lin Wan constantly."
"Now that Lin Mo is dead, you're fixating on someone else."
Xiao Ru desperately wanted to see what on earth was inside her son's head.
Yet, seeing his pale complexion, she hadn't the heart to criticize him any further.
Mu Bai looked at his mother and said, "Mom, she looks so much like Momo. Looking at her feels just like Momo is still alive."
Xiao Ru sighed, "You'll snap out of it sooner or later."
The Yaoming Group's chamber of commerce banquet had naturally drawn immense attention.
After the banquet concluded, many people were still discussing the beautiful CEO and her formidable elder brother.
Undoubtedly, Lin Mo had instantly ascended to become a rising star within the upper echelons.
A fiercely sought-after newcomer.
After tonight, yet another influential figure had been added to the power circles of City A.
Upon returning home, those guests continued to converse about the affairs surrounding Yaoming Group.
Whenever it was mentioned, they inevitably took the opportunity to disparage the Lin family's self-destructive foolishness and praise Sheng Cang's ruthless acumen.

The following day.
The Lin residence.
During breakfast, Qin Lian caught sight of her daughter's bandaged appearance, and her eyebrows involuntarily twitched.
Instantly consumed by worry, she asked, "Wan Wan, what happened to you? Didn't you go to the business banquet last night?"
"When did you get back, and how did you end up looking like this?"
"Were you in a car accident?"
Lin Wan opened her mouth to speak, but Lin Tiancheng beat her to it.
"Wan Wan had an accidental fall last night. You shouldn't wear high heels anymore; they simply aren't safe."
Qin Lian exclaimed, "Oh dear, how could you be so careless? Well, you must pay closer attention to your safety from now on."
Feeling aggrieved, Lin Wan kept her head lowered and remained silent.
Qin Lian, however, was eager to inquire about the banquet.
Regrettably, what memories could Lin Wan possibly have of the banquet? Aside from being assaulted and humiliated, there was nothing else.
She had zero desire to ever recall it again.
"Mom, stop talking about it."
Seeing that Lin Wan was in low spirits, Qin Lian placated her, "Alright, alright, Mother won't ask anymore."
As Lin Tiancheng watched Lin Wan, the thought taking root in his mind grew increasingly fierce.
Previously, he had regarded this eldest daughter as pleasing and flawless in every single aspect.
Yet looking at her now, why did she suddenly seem incapable of doing anything right?
By contrast, that person Einan was rumored to have lost both parents at a young age and grown up alongside her older brother.
Yet she conversed effortlessly and with profound poise among corporate titans.
If only his own daughter were Einan.
Having a daughter like that would be a genuine, powerful asset!
Lin Tiancheng sighed, set down his chopsticks, and stated, "I'm not eating anymore."
Finding him utterly inexplicable, Qin Lian demanded, "What's with the gloomy face early in the morning? Who on earth offended you?"
Too ashamed to lift her head, Lin Wan felt mortified.
Her father must surely still think she was a complete embarrassment...
Lin Yunhe offered comforting words: "Wan Wan, don't be so downcast."
"So what if you took a tumble? It was merely a minor accident, don't let it upset you."
With a smile, he continued, "Aren't classes starting the day after tomorrow? Let me share some good news with you—I've officially transferred to teach at University A."
Lin Wan's eyes lit up, "Does that mean when I'm at school, I'll be together with you, Big Brother?"
"Yes."
Qin Lian chuckled helplessly, "Look at how thrilled you are. Your brother is a PhD holder and a graduate advisor; he's exceptionally busy."
"As a freshman starting university, you mustn't cling to your brother every single day."
"You'll end up damaging your brother's professional reputation."
"I would never do that." In high spirits, Lin Wan replied, "Everyone else is bound to die of envy when they see me, having such an incredible and handsome older brother."
Lin Yunhe shook his head, "I'll drive you out to buy some new clothes later."
"Thank you, Big Brother," Lin Wan nodded eagerly without missing a beat.
Sitting nearby, Lin Qinglang found it impossible to swallow his food, feeling as though a fishbone was stuck in his throat.
How could they possibly be this cheerful?
Momo had only died a few days ago!
"Is there really anything worth being this happy about?"
A sharp pain pierced Lin Qinglang's heart, and he sneered bitterly, "Wan Wan, that university admission spot originally belonged to Momo, yet you can accept it with such a clear and tranquil conscience?"
Darkness shadowed Lin Qinglang's gaze as he stared intently at the glaring, offensive smile plastered across Lin Wan's face.
"Her bones are not even cold yet, and here you are daydreaming about your college lifestyle?"
Was her past kindness genuine at all?
Afraid it was all nothing more than a facade.
Startled, Qin Lian blurted out, "Fifth Brother, what on earth are you talking about?!"
"Uttering such harsh, hurtful words to wound Wan Wan—what madness has gotten into you?"
