Lin Mo felt too ashamed to raise her head.

She was simply too apologetic toward them.

Like a child who had done something wrong, she didn't dare to meet Sheng Cang's eyes at all.

Sheng Cang lowered his gaze and saw the high heels on Lin Mo's feet.

Heartbroken at the thought of how much walking must have hurt her, he directly bent down and scooped her up horizontally into a princess carry.

"Alright, stop crying. It's my fault."

"I was really wrong."

Though he had no idea what he was apologizing for.

Still, apologizing was always the right choice.

Lin Mo's eyelids twitched as she spoke with a cry in her voice, "I can walk by myself..."

Sheng Cang strode into the villa with long strides.

"You are forbidden from wearing high heels from now on!"

Lin Mo wrinkled her nose.

Normally, she could be extremely strong when facing the outside world.

Yet in front of her older brother, once the emotions welled up, they became completely unstoppable.

Seeing that her master had returned, Qiu'er hurried over to welcome him.

However, upon seeing him carrying a petite woman in his arms, she couldn't help but rub her eyes.

It was a woman?

It was a woman!

Qiu'er was utterly shocked: "Master, you're back. Sister-in-law, you must have had a hard time."

Sheng Cang frowned and scolded, "What nonsense are you babbling about?"

"This is Momo!"

His tone was icy cold, "Look closely, and don't make Momo upset."

Startled, Qiu'er cast a covert glance at the woman who had buried her face in her master's embrace.

She seemed to be crying.

Qiu'er hurriedly went off to tidy up the room.

Her mind was in complete chaos.

As a servant here, she naturally knew that the master had a taboo name that was never to be uttered.

Lin Mo.

Three years ago, Lin Mo had left this place.

Eight months ago, the master had found her.

Word had it that she had simply up and left to study in the countryside.

She had even recognized a set of grandparents and was living quite well.

Later on, the master never mentioned Lin Mo again, nor did he allow anyone else to bring her up.

She was his absolute forbidden zone.

Lin Mo was placed onto the sofa by Sheng Cang.

Sheng Cang squatted down, clumsily took off her high heels, and tossed them aside with an expression of disgust.

Then he extended his excessively slender hands, with their sharply defined knuckles.

Using his palms, he massaged Lin Mo's ankles.

"Does it hurt? Huh?"

"You must be exhausted, right?"

Lin Mo pressed her lips together: "It doesn't hurt."

Sheng Cang let out a soft scoff and casually rubbed her calf.

Lin Mo hissed, drawing in a sharp breath of cold air.

Sheng Cang's gaze paused as he noticed that she was wearing skin-colored stockings, which were slightly soaked with blood.

Without any hesitation, he tore them open.

There, beneath the seemingly smooth calves, were injuries crisscrossed with bruises.

Her originally fair and tender legs were covered in scratched wounds.

"It's nothing. I got scratched by water weeds last night, and there were a few bumps..."

"I faked my death to leave the Lin family, but the rain was a bit heavy and there were some minor hiccups. These little injuries will heal in two or three days."

As Lin Mo spoke, she shrank her legs back.

However, that hand was like an iron clamp.

It did not budge an inch.

"Are they even worthy of you wearing yourself out for them?"

Sheng Cang raised his eyes, suppressing a blazing fury beneath them, "Do you not take yourself seriously? Do you hold yourself in such low regard?"

Qiu'er walked down the stairs, saying, "Master, the bedsheets and quilt covers in the guest bedroom have all been changed."

Yet she received no response and instead heard Lin Mo crying again.

Sheng Cang looked fierce, towering over the young girl on the sofa.

Qiu'er was somewhat frightened as well; when her master lost his temper, it was truly terrifying.

Should she hide away for a bit?

Only when she drew closer did she realize that the master was holding a towel.

"It hurts..." Lin Mo whimpered, her eyes brimming with tears.

"You still know it hurts? It would serve you right if you hurt to death!" Sheng Cang's brows were locked tightly together as he used the towel to gently wipe her wounds.

"Qiu'er, bring the medical kit over!"

"Also, get a pair of flat slippers and a loose nightgown."

"They're in the walk-in closet!"

Qiu'er scrambled to obey.

Clutching a throw pillow on the sofa, Lin Mo let Sheng Cang tend to her injuries.

She frowned, her eyelashes damp and wet, "Brother, why is there a nightgown in your walk-in closet?"

"Do you have someone special?"

Suddenly feeling a sharp pain, she flinched, "Why did you suddenly use so much force?"

Sheng Cang stared at her with a chilling gaze, "The clothes in the walk-in closet are all brand new."

Lin Mo's mind couldn't quite process it, "Oh."

The spacious living room was quiet and still.

The light from the crystal chandelier cascaded across the room.

The servants tiptoed around, not daring to make the slightest sound, yet all of them were consumed with curiosity about Lin Mo.

Qiu'er returned with the clothes.

The cook pulled her aside and asked, "That young lady is so pretty, why was she bullied to tears by the master?"

"What is their relationship?"

Qiu'er pressed her lips together: "Her? Her name is Lin Mo."

"She's the very name mentioned in the first rule of the handbook for working here—the one you're never allowed to say!"

The cook was startled: "It's her?"

Qiu'er nodded: "Yes. Lin Mo and the master are like siblings, but only in the orphanage sense. There's no blood relation between them."

Qiu'er flashed her an "you know what I mean" look.

The other woman instantly caught on, "I'll go make some chicken soup for the young miss."

The medical kit was placed off to the side.

Lin Mo came out of the small room on the first floor wearing an adorable off-white nightgown.

She sat back down on the sofa.

Her entire person appeared much softer now.

Both tender and milky-soft.

Sheng Cang had his sleeves rolled up, wearing an expensive wristwatch on his left wrist and Buddhist prayer beads on his right.

With focused eyes, he half-knelt on the floor, resting Lin Mo's leg upon his own knee.

He dipped a cotton swab in iodophor.

"It doesn't hurt."

Lin Mo nodded: "Really, I'm not afraid of pain."

Sheng Cang let out a hum, though who knew who had been acting like a little crybaby just moments ago.

Sheng Cang leaned forward to blow gently on the wound before meticulously applying the medicine for her.

Qiu'er stood nearby to assist.

"Miss, how did you end up in such a state?"

"There are so many injuries on your legs; just looking at them makes my heart ache to death. The master must be feeling heartbroken, too."

"You must take good care of them so they don't leave scars."

"It's fine," Lin Mo said casually. "I just fell into a reservoir."

Qiu'er was struck dumb with astonishment.

Surely the master wasn't the one who threw her in, was he?!

Good thing she kept that thought to herself, otherwise Sheng Cang would definitely lose his temper all over again.

And once he lost his temper, Mu Bai would probably be as good as dead.

Once the injuries were mostly tended to, the cook emerged carrying a bowl of chicken soup: "Miss, have some chicken soup while it's hot. It's piping hot."

"It'll be great for nourishing your body."

"Thank you." Lin Mo made to get up.

Sheng Cang signaled for her to stay seated.

The cook brought the bowl over, but Sheng Cang intercepted and took it into his own hands.

"It's scalding."

The cook blinked in surprise: "Then should I take it back and let it cool a bit?"

"No need, all of you dismissed." Sheng Cang stirred the soup with a spoon, blew on it, and then personally spooned it to Lin Mo's lips.

"I can do it myself."

Lin Mo reached out to take the bowl and was indeed scalded slightly.

"It's quite hot, put it down right now and drink it later."

"It's fine." Sheng Cang didn't care at all; this level of heat was no different from room temperature to him.

"I can drink it myself, my hands are fine."

Sheng Cang lowered his gaze to sweep over the iodophor just applied to her arms.

The mere thought of how his little sister had gotten hurt and wronged for the sake of those ungrateful wretches caused a surge of fury to rise within his chest.

He gritted his teeth and smiled coldly, "Oh, but your older brother likes feeding you."
