Chapter 49: Please Don't Cry
Lin Mo’s hand was held by Sheng Cang.
Sheng Cang’s peach blossom eyes twinkled with a smile as he bent down and kissed the back of her hand.
“Mo Mo, from now on, your brother will protect you well.” Sheng Cang straightened up, holding Lin Mo close in his arms, his hand gently stroking her hair with tenderness and longing.
His tone suddenly darkened slightly. “But if you dare to leave me even half a step again, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
“You should have listened to me a long time ago, right, Mo Mo?”
Lin Mo’s expression froze for a moment.
She was afraid of her brothers.
Their possessiveness was terrifying.
If she left, they would probably all go mad.
Yet, their love was genuine.
Unconditional.
She leaned against Sheng Cang. “Brother, I understand.”
A satisfied smile appeared on Sheng Cang’s face.
The hostility in his eyes vanished completely.
As long as Lin Mo complied with him, he would be normal.
Lin Mo looked at Sheng Cang. This gaze was as if a lifetime had been reset.
Sheng Cang still wore black clothes, but his figure was tall and slender, the kind that looked slim dressed and muscular undressed.
His eyebrows slanted sharply, and the corners of his eyes lifted.
Even in black, his clothes exuded remarkable texture.
He was wild and unruly.
Lin Mo lowered her eyes and reached out to hook his finger. “Brother, I know it was all my fault before…”
“I won’t run away again.”
“It’s okay. Knowing your mistakes and changing is enough. I won’t blame you,” Sheng Cang chuckled softly, waves of tenderness surging in his eyes. “I will continue to cherish you as always.”
No one around dared to speak.
Men and women stood quietly nearby.
The bodyguards beside them looked fierce and formidable, clearly not to be trifled with.
Judging by appearances, they were real players in the underworld.
It seemed the CEO of Yaoming Group was not only a great beauty but also had a mysterious background.
Lin Mo followed Sheng Cang out of the airport, where a sea of black-clad men awaited.
The moment she appeared, those men bowed in unison, “Congratulations on your return, Miss!”
Others wanted to get close to the CEO of Yaoming Group.
But seeing such a grand entourage, no one dared to approach even half a step.
The crowd was huge.
All here to welcome this female CEO.
The night sky was clear with the moon and few stars.
A scattering of Douluo stars shone across the Milky Way.
On the ground, luxury cars and men in suits filled the streets.
The scene was magnificent.
Lin Mo held a bouquet of vivid red roses and approached the roadside, climbing into a sports car.
Sheng Cang sat in the driver’s seat.
With a bang, the car door closed.
Lin Mo took off her sunglasses and mask, revealing her beautiful face.
Sitting next to her brother brought a strong sense of safety, yet it felt like a different world.
But she had to be careful, for her brother’s fury was terrifying.
Sheng Cang glanced sideways, his long lashes casting a shadow.
His sister was now an adult.
Very different from before.
He wanted to possess her completely.
“Mo Mo, have you thought about how to punish the Lin family?”
“And that blind idiot from the Mu family!”
“How about making sure they don’t survive the night, to vent your anger?”
He pinched his own wrist, where a string of Buddhist beads hung.
He believed in Buddhism.
Yet his flamboyant and rebellious character was completely at odds with his faith.
Lin Mo reached out and touched the beads. “You believe in Buddhism; you shouldn’t kill.”
Sheng Cang laughed lowly, as if hearing the greatest joke, reclining in his seat.
He narrowed his eyes slightly. “Mo Mo, I can promise you anything else.”
“Except this one thing.”
His tongue pressed against his cheek, his tone darkened. “They bullied you so much, I want nothing more than to kill them!”
He brought his index and middle finger together, tapping his temple. “I’ve thought of a thousand ways to make them suffer worse than death.”
Lin Mo took a moment to steady her emotions.
“Brother,” she said with a hint of melancholy between her brows, “I know. I will handle it myself. I don’t want you to get involved.”
“Don’t forget, I used to be someone in the shadows too.”
“I’ve grown up; I can manage.”
Sheng Cang sighed and reverted to his cold demeanor. “I promise, you’ll do it yourself.”
“But if you really could handle it, how did they bully you so badly?”
When she left before, she was so resolute, leaving without a backward glance.
His heart ached as if breaking!
So merciless, not even giving him a chance to turn back!
He always knew Mo Mo was softhearted toward those people.
She couldn’t bear Mu Bai’s death, right?
Hmph, why not be softhearted toward me?
Jealousy drove Sheng Cang mad as he pressed the accelerator, the car speeding off.
Lin Mo was startled. “Brother! You can’t drive this fast in the city!”
Although she could race cars, she couldn’t stand speeding in urban areas.
“Once you’re in the car, my rules are rules.”
“Tsk, Mo Mo, are you scared?”
She bit her lips, knowing her brother’s personality hadn’t changed one bit.
Especially Sheng Cang!
She pleaded a few more times, “Brother! If you keep driving this fast, I’ll get angry!”
Anger flickered in Sheng Cang’s eyes.
But he slowed down.
“You know I can’t bear to see you upset.”
The others behind them were puzzled. “Why is the boss suddenly driving like a snail?”
“That’s none of our business,” someone said.
…
The car arrived at the villa.
Sheng Cang’s villa.
Other cars dropped off their passengers and left on their own.
Soon, only their two cars remained.
Lin Mo tried to get out but found the door was locked. She turned to look at Sheng Cang.
Her expression was frosty. “You’re not letting me out?”
Sheng Cang leaned forward, lifting Lin Mo’s chin with his hand. “Mo Mo, promise me you won’t leave again this time.”
His eyes were deep, tinged with a sickly obsession.
“Otherwise, I really don’t know what I’ll do.”
“I don’t want to break your legs.”
“I don’t want to hurt you either.”
Lin Mo’s lashes trembled as she obeyed his words.
“I promise you.”
“Good girl.” Sheng Cang ruffled her hair. “Mo Mo is the best.”
“We’re just like when we were kids in the orphanage.”
“I only have you, and you only have me.”
“Don’t stop wanting me just because you’ve seen a bigger world, okay?”
Lin Mo couldn’t comprehend.
She only felt her brother seemed even crazier.
“I won’t leave you.”
She got out of the car.
The villa district was quiet at night.
Walking behind Sheng Cang, she looked at his tall, upright figure.
In the moonlight, it seemed so real.
Her eyes stung with unshed tears.
Though she feared her brother’s possessiveness,
Finally returning to his side brought unparalleled peace.
If danger came, he would risk his life to protect her.
Sheng Cang noticed Lin Mo lagging behind and turned back.
The girl’s nose was red, her eyes red-rimmed.
He sighed helplessly, as if at a loss.
Reaching out, he cupped her face, wiping her tears with his fingertip.
“Mo Mo, don’t cry.”
His voice was soft and tender. “It’s all okay now.”
He bent down, pressing his forehead against hers. “I promise I won’t drive so fast again, and I won’t say harsh words to you.”
“It’s all my fault… Please, don’t be sad anymore.”
