Chapter 38: Ning Rongrong’s Confession, Oscar’s Heart Turns Cold!
When Ning Rongrong threw herself into Xu Yan’s arms, Xu Yan was taken aback. The effect of the "Bling Bling Fall in Love with You Fruit" was far more potent and immediate than he had anticipated. It was truly terrifying. Feeling Ning Rongrong’s soft body pressed against his chest, her face flushed pink as she closed her eyes in blissful enjoyment, she murmured in a sweet, languid voice, "Yuhao, I never knew your embrace could be so warm."
Oscar, who had just walked over, watched as Ning Rongrong threw herself at Xu Yan and uttered such words. It was like a bolt of lightning from a clear blue sky; he felt as though he had been struck by a thunderclap. At this moment, the perfect soundtrack for his misery would have been a song of swirling snow and whistling north winds.
Xu Yan, his body stiff, hurriedly looked at Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing and asked, "Um, could you two please help?"
Zhu Zhuqing, startled by Ning Rongrong’s behavior, hesitated for a moment before crouching down to pull her away.
"Don't pull me! I want to cuddle with Yuhao!" Ning Rongrong whined, acting as if she were intoxicated, her eyes hazy. She struggled, effectively knocking Zhu Zhuqing aside. She pressed herself back against Xu Yan’s chest and sniffed him. "Yuhao, you smell so good."
At this moment, she felt the entire world was perfect. With only Xu Yan existing in her eyes, he seemed to be the pinnacle of perfection. Even the air around him smelled sweet. She had become completely infatuated, convinced that the very air was filled with pink bubbles.
Oscar felt as though his heart was being sliced apart, one cut at a time. Jiang Zhu, who had been trying to rush over, was restrained by Xiao Wu. Zhu Zhuqing couldn't fathom why these two had suddenly become so enamored with Xu Yan. She forcibly pulled Ning Rongrong away and said, "Come on, let's go back."
Xu Yan watched blankly as Ning Rongrong was dragged off, breathing a sigh of relief as Jiang Zhu was also pulled away. This fruit was indeed formidable; anything produced by the system was truly top-tier. However, it seemed best not to give this to Zhu Zhuqing or Xiao Wu for now, or he would be pestered by four women and unable to cultivate at all.
"See you tomorrow, Yuhao?" Ning Rongrong said, blushing as she winked at him.
Xu Yan felt a chill run down his spine; Ning Rongrong was even more terrifying than Jiang Zhu. After they left, Oscar felt as though he had lost his entire world and walked away in a daze.
Tang San had previously used his Purple Demon Eye to inspect Jiang Zhu and Ning Rongrong, but found nothing abnormal. "Yuhao, what did you do to them?" Tang San had learned his lesson and did not use an accusatory tone.
"I didn't do anything," Xu Yan replied, spreading his hands innocently. "What could I possibly do in such a public place?"
Dai Mubai then said to Tang San, "Let's head back first."
"Yuhao, we’ve finished the repairs. Take a look."
Xu Yan looked at the house not far away. The repairs were mostly done; it might be a bit drafty, but it didn't matter. "Fine, that’ll do. I won't make things difficult for you anymore, but I hope there won't be a next time." Xu Yan stood up and walked into the house.
Tang San and Dai Mubai watched as Xu Yan entered alone and shut the door. They exchanged glances in silence before leaving. Ma Hongjun supported Oscar, who looked heartbroken and utterly despondent.
"Little Ao..." Ma Hongjun called out cautiously.
"Fatty, I’ve let you down. I dragged you into this. Now, I’m sure Rongrong is disappointed in me. She’s already fallen for Huo Yuhao," Oscar sobbed.
Tang San and Dai Mubai walked behind them, looking at each other. "Little San, was there anything wrong with what happened just now?" Dai Mubai asked, rubbing his swollen face.
"No, it was just that fruit," Tang San said.
"Can a single fruit be that magical?" Dai Mubai wondered.
"Probably not. He didn't release any soul power. As a food-type soul master, he shouldn't possess such charm-based abilities," Tang San reasoned.
"Could it be that Huo Yuhao drugged the fruit?" Dai Mubai suggested.
Tang San frowned slightly. "You go back first. I’m going to find Xiao Wu and get to the bottom of this."
At that moment, Ning Rongrong and Jiang Zhu, supported by Zhu Zhuqing and Xiao Wu, seemed quiet and no different from normal people. They had stopped eating the fruit, the flush had faded from their faces, and they wore sweet smiles.
"Rongrong, was that fruit really that good?" Xiao Wu asked cautiously.
"Mm, it was very sweet. I feel like the whole world is full of beauty now," Ning Rongrong replied crisply.
"Xiao Wu, Zhuqing, you don't know how warm Yuhao's chest is. He smells so good. I just want to stay in his arms forever," Ning Rongrong said longingly.
Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing’s expressions turned strange and awkward; they had no idea what kind of spell had been cast. Jiang Zhu nodded and added, "Mm, I felt it too. From the moment I first saw him, I fell deeply in love with him."
"Jiang Zhu, how can you be so shameless? You are not allowed to like him! He is the Prince Charming in my heart!" The two girls began to bicker. Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing could only shake their heads in helplessness.
Back at the dormitory, where Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing, and Xiao Wu shared a room, Ning Rongrong fell into a sweet sleep, her mind filled entirely with images of Xu Yan.
Under the night sky, Tang San sat on the grass, gazing at the starlit heavens. Xiao Wu walked over and called out, "Brother."
Tang San smiled at her. "You’re here."
Xiao Wu sat down beside him. "Is there something you needed?"
"Is Rongrong alright?" Tang San asked.
"Mm, she's perfectly normal, just constantly muttering about how great Yuhao is." Xiao Wu looked up at the moon, and in her heart, images of Xu Yan began to emerge, along with the memory of their first meeting.
"Xiao Wu, do you think there's something wrong with Huo Yuhao?" Tang San asked.
"There's nothing wrong with him! He was all alone, and you were bullying him. Speaking of which, Brother... I’m very disappointed in you," Xiao Wu said quickly.
"Xiao Wu... I..." Tang San sighed helplessly. He hadn't expected to commit such a grave mistake today. Not only was his teacher disappointed in him, but Xiao Wu felt the same.
"Brother, you’re not usually this impulsive. Why did you act this way?" Xiao Wu questioned. Tang San could only offer explanations.
Back in his room, Xu Yan sat down to continue his cultivation. Having been interrupted by Ma Hongjun and Oscar earlier, he was indeed quite annoyed. That was exactly why he had been so heavy-handed with them—he had nearly beaten them to death. Moreover, he had warned them, but they had insisted on their own arrogance.
