Chapter 58: Strange Perception
Chu Yitong raised a hand to brush the long hair beside her cheek, smiling with a trace of awkwardness, "Did I just have a dream?"
"Mm. What did you dream about?" Xie Chenjing's expression remained calm, his arm holding her still not loosening.
"I... don't remember!" She completely forgot, without a single impression left. What on earth had she dreamed of?
"If you can't remember, don't think about it!"
"Um?"
"Hm?"
"I want to get down!"
"Uncomfortable?"
"..." What did he think?
A flicker of amusement flashed in Xie Chenjing's eyes as he moved her back onto the seat. "Do you want to sleep a little longer?"
"No. Are we going home?" The feeling of panic had vanished, and she began to feel irritable once more. Her period was truly annoying.
"Heading home!" He opened the car door, returned to the driver's seat, and the car drove smoothly in the direction of Emerald Garden.
She let out a soft sigh, her head lowered as she pondered the events that had just taken place. The person who bumped into her at the hotel and the one who had closed in on them had to be the same—there was no doubt about it. Yet, who was that person actually targeting? Herself? No. She had felt flustered, but not terrified. Was it him? She abruptly raised her head to look at the man in front.
Through the rearview mirror, her expression was laid bare. Xie Chenjing tapped his slender fingers lightly against the steering wheel, his dark eyes deep and impenetrable as he spoke in a gentle, unhurried tone, "Yiyi, what is it you want to say?"
"Have you... encountered anything strange lately?" After a moment of deep thought, she voiced her question. No matter what, she never wanted to see him come to harm.
His tapping fingers paused slightly. He considered this for a moment. "Does it have to do with what just happened?"
"Yes!" It was hardly possible to keep anything from him, so she simply laid her cards on the table. "I sensed the person who bumped into me at the hotel. After we left the hotel, he kept tailing us, but for some reason, he suddenly vanished."
"Sensed?"
"Yes, sensed."
"Next time, tell me in advance. Don't take risks, understand?" *Vanishing suddenly... could it be related to that car accident?*
"Alright!" She had expected him to dig to the root of the matter, but never imagined he wouldn't even ask why she had been able to "sense" it. The gaze she cast toward him shifted quietly.
Meanwhile, standing by the window of the second-floor private room at Blues, Lin Molang had clearly witnessed that entire scene, his brows involuntarily furrowing. As their car drove away, his gaze dropped to the site of the car accident. The car was there, the blood was there, but the injured person was not. That figure who had been struck yet had fled the scene seemed somewhat familiar.
"Young Master Lin, you have a meeting later, don't you?" His chief assistant's voice sounded by his ear. Lin Molang glanced out one last time, then turned and walked toward the door. "Let's go!"
Down on the street, traffic police were gathering information while directing and clearing traffic. Before long, the road gradually returned to normal. In a nearby alleyway, a man dressed in black clutched his arm, leaning against a wall and panting heavily. After a long while, he pulled his injured hand away, took out his phone, and dialed a number. "There was a little accident."
"Understood. Wait for instructions!" After this brief reply, the other party hung up. The man in black gritted his teeth and stumbled away.
A short distance behind them, Zhu Yusheng and Zhao Ziqian were chatting gloatingly about the accident broadcasted on the radio. "Idiot, thank goodness I was smart and didn't choose that route, otherwise we'd definitely be stuck in traffic!"
"That street name sounds so familiar?" Zhao Ziqian frowned, tapping his forehead as he thought hard.
"Ah? Right, right! Let's call and ask Molang!" Hearing him say that, Zhu Yusheng suddenly remembered that the street was right near Blues.
"Ask Molang?"
"The road is right near Blues, how interesting is that? I've seen people play the victim after getting hit, but I've really never seen someone hit by a car just run away. Let's ask—who knows, maybe he knows something!"
"Why not?" They were bored anyway.
