Danger
Chu Yitong glanced at the remaining dessert on the spoon, muttering, "Of course desserts are sweet!" She pulled the spoon back and resumed eating.
The more she ate, the stranger it felt, accompanied by an inexplicable burning sensation. Looking up, she saw those cold, indifferent eyes tinged with tiny, flickering flames. She slowly lowered her head to stare at the spoon in her hand—the spoon he had just used, with the rest of it... She swallowed hard. The rest of it seemed to have been eaten by her. This, this...
"Yiyi, is it good?"
Why did those words sound entirely wrong? Burying her head even lower, she stammered in response, "Oh!"
"Mmm, it is indeed quite good!"
Quite good... what on earth did that mean?
"Let's go!" Putting down the spoon, she could no longer continue eating. Her gaze drifted toward the window, and she abruptly stood up. They were seated on the second floor of the Blues Restaurant, directly opposite the Emperor Hotel, where the scene outside was clearly visible. That person—there was no doubt it was him!
"What is it?" Xie Chenjing followed her gaze. Downstairs, cars and people were moving back and forth, nothing out of the ordinary.
She pressed her lips tightly together, her hands clenched into fists. She couldn't have seen wrong. Why would he appear there? The warm presence beside her pulled her back from her thoughts. Turning her head, she saw him gazing at her earnestly and couldn't help smiling. "Let's go!"
"Something on your mind?" His voice was neither light nor heavy, yet it caused a slight ripple in her heart. Pondering for a moment, she said softly, "When I came out of the restroom, someone bumped into me and ran off. I just saw him downstairs."
"Did you see his face?"
"No." She shook her head. She hadn't seen it, but her intuition—intuition would not deceive her!
"Then you—" How did she know it was him? He took her hand, refraining from pressing further. "Yiyi, let's go!"
"Okay!" She left her seat and headed toward the door. As he opened it, she glanced down at the street once more, her heart growing increasingly panicked. Why?
"Why are you here?" Seeing the person standing outside the door, Xie Chenjing raised an eyebrow slightly. He rarely frequented hotels, so today was quite a coincidence.
"Knowing our young master Xie has arrived, how could I dare not come to receive you?" Lin Molang smiled lazily, his gaze sweeping casually over the deep-in-thought Chu Yitong. Tsk, still like this, astonishingly enough!
"It seems young master Lin is simply too idle."
"Look at you saying that! I am exceptionally busy." He took a few steps forward, a flash of light crossing his slender eyes. "Care to make an introduction?"
Xie Chenjing released the hand he was holding, wrapped his arm around her waist, and walked past him, his crisp, clear voice falling distinctly upon the air: "We'll gather another day!"
"Tsk—just leaving like that!" With a look of utter curiosity, he watched the two figures depart hand in hand, feeling profoundly astonished. When on earth had this man achieved such an epiphany?
Arriving outside the lobby doors, Chu Yitong came to a halt. That intense sensation surfaced once more. She pulled him back, refusing to move forward, her clear eyes scanning her surroundings before finally locking onto a specific spot. Clasping his hand tightly, she tilted her head up slightly. "Shall we go shopping?"
"Shopping?" Xie Chenjing seamlessly drew her into the shelter of his protection, his slender fingers tucking a stray lock of long hair falling beside her cheek behind her ear. "Where to?"
"Are there any shopping malls around here?" It seemed the area was mostly dominated by hotels.
"There are several malls nearby. Which side would Yiyi like to go to, left or right?"
"Home!"
"Hmm?"
"Let's go home!"
"Alright!" Xie Chenjing gathered her into his arms and strode quickly toward the car.
"Walk faster!" That sensation, that aura, was drawing closer, growing increasingly intense.
They quickened their pace. Just as they were still some distance from the car, a harsh screech of brakes echoed from behind them.
