Chapter 31: The Vibranium Round Shield
Zhang Fang, “Blending into the Light and Dust,” arrived in the commercial district through a teleportation point.
The district contained all kinds of shops, large and small. Weapons and equipment, basic cultivation manuals, skill books, medicine, delicacies, raw materials—there was practically nothing it did not offer.
These shops were all operated by the Reincarnation Tower. Like system shops in online games, most of the items they sold were of ordinary quality. Black Iron- and Bronze-grade items were already extremely rare, while anything good above Silver grade could only be found in the consignment house.
As its name suggested, the consignment house was a platform designed to facilitate transactions between reincarnators. Everything inside had been placed there for consignment by other reincarnators, and the sheer variety of goods was dazzling.
Iron Shirt Manual: From the Claw of the Eagle, Iron Shirt instance world. Price: 5,000 points! (Fixed price)
Eighteen Techniques of Awei Manual: From the Under One Person instance world. Price: 5,000 points! (Negotiable)
Great Fireball Technique Scroll: From the Naruto instance world. Price: 20,000 points! (Negotiable)
Six Techniques: Iron Body: From the One Piece instance world. Price: 35,000 points! (Negotiable)
Dog-Dog Fruit, Dalmatian Model: From the One Piece instance world. Price: 50,000 points! (Negotiable)
Evil-Repelling Sword Manual: From the Smiling, Proud Wanderer instance world. Price: 50,000 points! (Negotiable)
…
As Zhang Fang browsed, he could not help feeling that most of the items consigned here concealed one trap or another. There were certainly some good things among them, but compared with exchanging directly with characters from the relevant story worlds, their prices were generally inflated.
After wandering around for quite some time, Zhang Fang finally discovered an item that truly interested him.
Vibranium Round Shield (Legendary): From the Avengers instance world. Price: 500,000 points! (Negotiable)
The moment he saw the red-and-blue shield before him, Zhang Fang’s spirits lifted. Unlike the countless ordinary saber and sword users, the weapon he specialized in was an exceedingly rare shield!
He had never imagined that merely taking a turn through the consignment house would lead him to a legendary, supreme-quality shield.
Within the Reincarnation Tower’s equipment classification system, all equipment was divided into different grades according to its performance, power, and rarity. The lowest grade was Ordinary, followed by Black Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Legendary.
Zhang Fang did not know whether Legendary equipment was the highest grade in the Reincarnation Tower. He only knew that in all the information he had encountered before, Legendary had always represented the pinnacle.
Take the Cold Moon Saber in Zhang Fang’s possession, for example. Within the worldview of the Jin-style martial arts stories, it could barely be considered a formidable weapon.

Yet that saber was merely a Silver-grade weapon!
Judging by grade alone, the Vibranium Round Shield was incomparably more precious than his Cold Moon Saber. After all, two entire grades—Gold and Diamond—stood between them!
As a transmigrator, Zhang Fang naturally knew quite a bit about the shield before him.
According to his memories, although the shield was called a Vibranium Round Shield, it had actually been forged from proto-adamantium, a rare alloy whose primary ingredient was vibranium. At least from the perspective of a shield, proto-adamantium could be said to possess all of vibranium’s advantages while surpassing it in strength.
As for how rare this metal was…
Proto-adamantium had actually been created by accident during an experiment. No formula had ever been preserved, and all the proto-adamantium in existence had been used to create this single shield.
Since vibranium was its primary material and its properties were similar to those of vibranium, calling it a “Vibranium Round Shield” could not really be considered wrong. The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber, for instance, were also forged from an alloy, yet many readers remembered only their primary material—black iron.
As for the shield’s durability, it was one of the rarest existences in the entire Marvel multiverse. Among its many feats was taking a direct strike from Thor’s hammer without suffering the slightest damage.
As far as Zhang Fang was concerned, the shield’s price was not a disadvantage at all. Had the listing not clearly stated that the price was negotiable?
Driven by intense desire, Zhang Fang immediately requested to view the equipment’s attributes. Unexpectedly, the seller had set no viewing restrictions whatsoever. Anyone who came here could inspect the shield’s attributes.
Vibranium Round Shield (Legendary): Forged from proto-adamantium. Almost indestructible, it can absorb kinetic energy and resist extreme pressure, extreme temperatures, radiation, electromagnetic-spectrum attacks, and other forms of impact.
Special Effects: Perfect Throw, Kinetic Absorption, Damage Ricochet
Perfect Throw: The Vibranium Round Shield possesses flawless aerodynamic properties. It can move through the air with minimal wind resistance while ensuring that its trajectory does not deviate. The shield’s extraordinary toughness and natural concentric rigidity mean that when it comes into contact with solid objects during a throw, it loses only a minimal amount of angular momentum. After prolonged training, its wielder can throw the shield hard enough to pierce a target, or control it so that it rebounds off multiple points before returning to the wielder’s hand.
Kinetic Absorption: The shield itself possesses an extremely powerful kinetic-energy absorption effect. Any force that strikes the shield in the form of kinetic energy will be absorbed almost entirely, greatly reducing the pressure borne by the shield’s wielder.
Damage Ricochet: Against attacks in energy form, the Vibranium Round Shield possesses an exceptional ricochet effect. By adjusting the shield’s angle, its wielder can control the direction in which the attack is reflected.
…
A single shield came with three astonishingly powerful special effects! That alone was enough to reveal the might of this legendary piece of equipment.
After taking a deep breath, Zhang Fang left a message through the “Negotiate Price” function:
[I am very interested in this shield, but the asking price is far too high. I hope you can offer me a reasonable price. In addition, I do not have many points on hand. If you are willing to trade items instead, we can arrange a time to sit down and discuss it in person.] —Thousand Trees
The message was sent, but no reply came immediately. Presumably, the seller was either fighting for survival in an instance world or was currently in the real world and had not entered the Reincarnation Space.

Zhang Fang was in no hurry. After wandering around the consignment house a little longer, he left the Reincarnation Space and returned to reality.
…
In the capital city of Tianjing, inside a spacious and brightly lit study, a man of around thirty sat upright before a desk, a book held in his hands as he read with evident enjoyment.
Even during such a leisurely moment alone, he maintained the most impeccable posture. Seen from a distance, he looked almost like a statue.
Suddenly!
The study door was pushed open from outside, and a pretty young girl slipped inside.
She was dressed casually, and youthful vitality radiated from every inch of her. The moment she entered, she called out excitedly to the man reading at the desk, “Brother, someone is interested in the shield I consigned. Guess who left the message!”
The man lowered his book and glanced at the girl with unmistakable indulgence before shaking his head. “How am I supposed to guess that?”
“It was Thousand Trees!” the girl said excitedly. “Well… you might not know that name, but just a little while ago, Thousand Trees appeared in an announcement from the Reincarnation Tower. During the novice trial, he cleared the Hell-difficulty instance world Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils: Gathering of Heroes Manor, and his evaluation was double S!”
Gathering of Heroes Manor? Double S?
When he heard those two key phrases, a trace of disgust unconsciously flashed through the man’s eyes before quickly vanishing.
The girl continued, “Brother, are you interested in making contact with someone like that?”
“Not interested!” the man replied without hesitation. Then he added, “As for the shield, you have had it listed in the consignment house for more than a month already. If you can get a suitable price, selling it would be fine. As for making contact…”
The man paused briefly before continuing, “You should get in touch with Sister Cunxin instead. She is better at judging people than I am.”
Having said that, he picked up his book once more and resumed reading from where he had left off.
Seeing that he had dismissed her after only a few words, the girl made a face at him before leaving the room and gently closing the door behind her.
Bang!
The noise made the man frown. He then shook his head with slight helplessness and continued reading without another word.
