Chapter 51: Flooded
Xuanyuan Yu lifted his phoenix eyes slightly, concealing the ripples within his gaze, and then scooped the little fox into his embrace. Liyue looked at Xuanyuan Yu in confusion; well, she simply did not understand what this meant.
It seemed that Liyue was indeed not a suitable candidate to take care of the little fox. If things went on like this, he, the master, might soon be replaced by Liyue. Xuanyuan Yu stroked the little fox's fur, his dark eyes brimming with unexpected jealousy...
"Let's go. You are not needed here to serve." Lieyan caught Xuanyuan Yu's meaning and immediately pulled the clueless Liyue out of Shuihua Hall. Liyue cast a bewildered glance at the little fox and waved goodbye, saying, "Little fox, I'll come back to play with you soon."
These words caused Xuanyuan Yu's gaze to turn icy, prompting Lieyan to hastily use his spiritual energy to wrap around Liyue and whisk her away.
After they left, Xuanyuan Yu carried the little fox into the side chamber, set her down on the floor, and began to undress himself. The little fox watched the bare Xuanyuan Yu with a sense of bashfulness, feeling her throat suddenly go dry. She kept her eyes glued to him as he walked toward the pool, and the consequence of not watching her step was that she missed her footing and tumbled straight into the water.
The little fox thrashed about in panic with all four limbs, squeaking at the top of her lungs: Help! Oh my god, I've fallen into the water!
Water droplets splashed everywhere, and the little fox's white fur drifted in the water like white sea grass. Lacking the strength to stay afloat, she began to sink, startling Xuanyuan Yu so deeply that his heart tightened as he leaped straight into the glazed pool to fish her out.
"Little fox, are you alright?" Xuanyuan Yu asked anxiously, trying to comfort her as he shouted directly.
The little fox lay flat on her back in Xuanyuan Yu's palm, her fur matted together and her pink little belly bloated. With a gentle poke from Xuanyuan Yu's fingertip, the little fox spat out a mouthful of water. A muscle twitched on Xuanyuan Yu's forehead; somehow, he found this entire scene utterly comical. He poked her a few more times until the little fox's little belly finally deflated.
The little fox opened her eyes weakly, then immediately sprang up as if facing a formidable enemy, clutching tightly onto Xuanyuan Yu's large palm and refusing to let go. Sniffling softly, she rubbed her tiny nose, feeling aggrieved to the point of death—she had almost drowned. If she had drowned, wouldn't she have become the laughingstock of everyone?
"So foxes don't know how to swim after all." Xuanyuan Yu placed the little fox back into the water, and she immediately began to struggle, her large eyes filled with terror.
"Were you frightened? It's fine. I'll support your little body so you won't be afraid." Amused, Xuanyuan Yu placed his hand beneath the little fox's body, allowing her to stand in the water without drowning.
The little fox patted Xuanyuan Yu's large palm with her paw and discovered, sure enough, that she wouldn't drown. Her little eyes lit up instantly, and she began slapping the water's surface continuously. Water droplets flew in all directions, dampening Xuanyuan Yu's hair.
That'll teach you to let me drown! See how I take my revenge now? Haha, I'm going to splash you to death! How dare you offend this esteemed immortal fox? I'm going to get you all filthy! Having achieved a petty triumph, the little fox began to act all smug.
Xuanyuan Yu would never have imagined that the little fox was taking her revenge in such an infantile manner, but seeing how much fun she was having, he naturally let her be.
Xuanyuan Yu washed the little fox's fur. Having a wonderful time, the little fox even curled her little tail up into the air. Xuanyuan Yu picked up some cleansing soap to wash her fur until every single strand was thoroughly cleaned. He flipped the little fox over to wash her belly, but to his surprise, the little fox clamped her four limbs tightly together to prevent him from washing her and kept kicking water directly at him.
