Chapter 35: I Am Not a Broken Sleeve
“Are you feeling unwell?” Xuanyuan Yu asked as he noticed the little fox clutching her chest. He had assumed it was a side effect from the medicine he had just given her, causing some sensory disturbance.
The little fox nodded, then shook her head. Her large eyes were filled with confusion; she didn’t understand what was happening to her. All she knew was that the sensation was quite pleasant, though she couldn’t articulate why.
Seeing the bewildered look in her eyes, Xuanyuan Yu gently held her against his chest, covering her small bosom with his hand. “Still uncomfortable? Could it be the medicine making you feel uneasy?”
The little fox lay back on Xuanyuan Yu’s lap, struggling with her limbs and squeaking, “Master, don’t be so shameless! How can you casually touch my chest like that? It’s far too immodest! I am a pure little fox, and I won’t allow you to touch me so freely!”
“Master, I must remind you—I am a female fox, a she-fox! Do you understand? Female means what you humans call a woman, and men and women should not have physical contact. My dear master, do you know that?”
Xuanyuan Yu’s long, slender fingers curved and flicked lightly against the little fox’s forehead. She was stunned, and he chuckled softly. “You little fox are still as shy as ever. But I’ve already touched all the parts I’m supposed to; isn’t it a bit too late to resist now?”
That gentle, warm smile was like a spring breeze in February, making the little fox nearly dazed with affection. Yet Xuanyuan Yu’s words snapped her back to reality. She slapped his hand with her paw, clearly embarrassed and angry. “I’m telling you, don’t think just because you’re my master you can tease me like this! I’m telling you, I’d rather die than be humiliated—be careful or I’ll turn my back on you!”
“And another thing, I have to tell you a fact: I have a bad temper. Don’t provoke me, or I’ll use the sole of my shoe to smack your face!”
Xuanyuan Yu gently held the little fox’s paw in his palm. The white paw looked delicate and adorable, and the pink pads soft and tender. He poked one of the pink pads with his finger, causing the little fox to quickly retract her paw.
She stopped struggling and allowed Xuanyuan Yu to cradle her, but her heart was heavy with sorrow. Her purity seemed like a distant dream ever since she met her master. She felt as though she wanted to shed a bitter, silent tear.
Han Bing watched Xuanyuan Yu teasing the little fox with a look of disapproval and sorrow. His hand gripping his sword trembled slightly. It was as if he wanted to say, “Master, it’s not right to tease a fox like this, especially one who is still a juvenile.”
Lie Yan cast a dark glance at Han Bing, gripping his hand to keep him from acting rashly. With a soft sigh, Lie Yan was aware of the sadness in Han Bing’s eyes but knew their master would never allow Han Bing to fall in love with him.
Han Bing shot Lie Yan a questioning look. “What are you doing?”
Lie Yan returned a cold, emotionless gaze. “I’m afraid you’ll lose control.”
Han Bing twitched the corners of his mouth, unable to understand Lie Yan’s meaning. He tried to shake off Lie Yan’s hand, but it wouldn’t budge. Surprised, Han Bing looked at Lie Yan, feeling increasingly uneasy. A chill ran through him as he wondered if Lie Yan had fallen in love with him. The thought made him shudder all over, and he wanted to shout, “Damn it, I told you, I’m not gay!”
