Chapter 59: The Sensation of Oxygen Deprivation
"Speak your mind." That person seemed to hold considerable weight, as many voices chimed in to agree.
"The Boss's death is definitely connected to Tong Xiaoman. Whoever can kill her to avenge the Boss will have the strongest claim to become the new Boss. Does anyone have any objections to this?"
Everyone immediately responded in unison.
Good grief, she had inexplicably become the murderer who assassinated the former leader of the Dragon Shadow Gang?
Tong Xiaoman screamed frantically in her heart: I have objections! Your Boss's death has absolutely nothing to do with me.
Hearing footsteps approaching from above, Tong Xiaoman's figure flickered, and she silently darted back into her room.
She couldn't help but smile bitterly. She had truly been hit by a stray bullet while lying down, completely framed by that assassin.
Currently gathered in the hotel were the most ruthless and cold-blooded branch leaders of the Dragon Shadow Gang from various regions. They had come under the pretext of avenging the former leader, but in reality, they were simply vying for the position of Boss.
They were fighting among themselves, lacking only a justification that could convince the masses—namely, whoever avenged the former Boss would have the ultimate right to sit on the throne.
And the innocent Tong Xiaoman naturally became their scapegoat.
No one bothered to investigate anymore whether she was truly the murderer; everyone had already reached a consensus that killing her meant becoming the Boss.
A cooked duck was right there for the taking; who wouldn't rush to grab it?
The suite where Tong Xiaoman was staying was quickly invaded by them.
Tong Xiaoman was not one to sit and await her doom. Long before they arrived, she had already left the room and fled.
However, at that moment, all the exits of the hotel were blocked by members of the Dragon Shadow Gang, making her escape no easy feat.
"Damn it," she cursed under her breath, swiftly dodging the lackies of the Dragon Shadow Gang who were searching for her. She slipped into a hallway, only to hear more footsteps approaching from ahead. With wolves in front and tigers behind, she bit her lower lip in anxiety. Suddenly, her wrist tightened, and a familiar, deep voice sounded in her ear: "Shh, come with me."
Tong Xiaoman looked up and was quite surprised to see him. She hadn't expected it to be him at all.
He gripped her wrist tightly. Without a word, she followed his racing footsteps until he pulled her into an empty men's restroom, hiding inside one of the stalls.
She leaned against him, panting heavily, feeling as though her heart was about to leap out of her chest.
Outside, the chaotic and hurried footsteps of the Dragon Shadow Gang members searching the area drew closer.
Nalan Che held her, his agile figure hoisting them upward as his legs left the ground and he hung from the top partition of the stall.
He held her so tightly that she could barely breathe. The masculine aura radiating from him constantly monopolized the air around her, giving her a sensation of oxygen deprivation.
They entered, checking the stalls one by one. Her limbs wrapped around him like an octopus, her body pressed closely against his, feeling his warmth through the thin layer of fabric.
His body was intensely hot, and all his muscles were taut.
Holding her breath, she opened her mouth and bit down on his shoulder to suppress the turbulent, fluttering impulses within her.
The Dragon Shadow Gang swiftly inspected the restroom. Fortunately, they did not discover them. Once they left, Tong Xiaoman realized how ambiguous their posture was and blushed. She quickly released her grip and jumped down from him. Just as she reached to push the door open, her hand was caught by him once again.
His deep eyes flashed with a blazing light as he lowered his husky, hoarse voice and said, "We can't go out yet."
His hand was scorching hot, and his expression was terrifyingly intense, as if he wanted to devour her alive.
