Chapter 49: A Taste for the Vulgar
A sharp gaze quickly scanned the content that had been opened above. Gradually, his expression grew serious. Su Ji stood dutifully by his side. Suddenly, a cold, sinister smile flickered at the corner of Nalan Che’s lips. “Su Ji, set course back.”
“Yes, Young Master.” As the perfect butler, even if curious, he dared not ask; he only followed his master’s orders.

Upon learning that Nalan Che was returning home, Tong Xiaoman was a bit surprised. She had thought he intended to drift across the seas and wander, with no plans to return anytime soon.
Seeing the trace of surprise on her face, Nalan Che’s deep eyes gleamed with a subtle, ambiguous light as he stared intently at her. “Can’t bear to leave?”
Tong Xiaoman immediately snorted in defiance. “Hmph, who said I can’t bear it? You’d better get back to shore immediately so I can go home.”
“A little hypocrite,” he murmured. After spending time together, he believed she was not indifferent to him.
He had originally planned to wander the seas with her for a while, to nurture their feelings. She was almost tamed by him. Unfortunately, the Di Cha Group suddenly had urgent matters requiring his attention back home. But it didn’t matter—they had plenty of time ahead to cultivate their relationship.

“I’m not,” she said stubbornly. Whenever he fixed her with those fiery eyes, her cheeks couldn’t help but flush. Hugging her snacks, Tong Xiaoman turned her face toward the LCD TV in front of her.
The screen was playing a melodramatic idol drama.
The heroine was a Cinderella figure; the hero was a wealthy man. In a chance encounter, the hero fell in love with her at first sight, then madly pursued her, stopping at nothing to win her over.
Just as Cinderella and the prince were about to live a happy and fulfilling life, the heroine was suddenly diagnosed as infertile.
The prince was the only son, supporting a vast family business and needed an heir.
So, the heroine concealed the truth and created misunderstandings, making the hero believe she had cheated on him with another man.
The prince suffered a devastating blow, heartbroken and angry, his love turning to hatred. He cruelly retaliated by continuously hurting and tormenting the heroine, stripping her of everything, sending her into hell.
Later, when the truth emerged, the prince was filled with remorse and apologized to the heroine from the depths of his heart. Eventually, she forgave him.
From then on, the prince and princess lived happily ever after.
Although the ending was perfect, the process was heart-wrenching.
Tong Xiaoman easily immersed herself in the story. Seeing the hero misunderstand and hurt the heroine, she was so upset she wished she could drag the hero out and thrash him mercilessly.

Nalan Che had never watched such dramas before, but this time, he accompanied her through the entire series.
After finishing, he squinted and said disdainfully, “What rubbish.” It was unbelievable that he had sat through such a vulgar drama with her.
Tong Xiaoman shot him a scornful glance. “Mr. Nalan, this is the most popular and highest-rated idol drama this year. Don’t you know how to appreciate it?”
Such a drama could be popular? Nalan Che’s contempt deepened. “Vulgar.”
“The world just loves vulgar things,” Tong Xiaoman shrugged indifferently.
“Boring.” Nalan Che fixed his burning gaze on her.
Tong Xiaoman suddenly laughed. “It’s meant to be a pastime to stave off boredom.”
“Watching these boring, vulgar dramas is a waste of time. You’d better do something meaningful,” Nalan Che said, moving closer to her side.
