Chapter 41: Kissed a Good-Looking Guy
Dressed in a black butler's uniform, he blended into the shadows so easily that it was simple for anyone to overlook and forget him.
Tong Xiaoman lightened her footsteps as she approached him. No matter what the task was, he always executed it with meticulous precision, practically defining perfection.
At least ten fishing rods were resting on the railing.
Facing the ocean, Su Ji did not turn around; the sound of her footsteps alone told him she had arrived.
Curiously, Tong Xiaoman gazed at the fishing hooks resting quietly in the water, finding the sight rather novel since she had never been fishing before.
"Su-su, can you really catch fish this late?" The moon was already hanging high in the sky.
His posture, previously straight and rigid, suddenly shuddered at that nickname, and Su Ji nearly choked on his own saliva.
Covered in a cold sweat, he said, "Miss Tong, please just call me by my name."
Given how much the young master cared about her lately, the young master would definitely be displeased to hear her call him that. Honestly, she really had terrified him.
"No way, calling you Su-su feels much friendlier," Tong Xiaoman flatly refused.
"The Young Master won't be happy about it." A bead of cold sweat slid down his forehead.
"He's not my keeper, I couldn't care less whether he's happy or not." Did she really need his permission just to decide how to address someone? What nonsense. Tong Xiaoman muttered contemptuously in her heart.
Su Ji reached up to wipe the cold sweat from his forehead. "But you're putting me in a very difficult position."
"You're his butler, not his slave." She hated how overbearing he was, even trying to police what she called people.
She had never been an obedient girl; if he told her to go east, she would deliberately go west just to see what he could do about it.
Su Ji fell silent. His primary directive was to execute all of the Young Master's wishes above all else. While he wasn't technically a slave, the difference was negligible.
*Oops, I seem to have said the wrong thing.*
Tong Xiaoman quickly changed the subject and said with a smile, "Su-su, let me help you fish."
Su Ji developed a headache. It seemed she had no intention of changing her form of address. He could easily foresee that his young master would not be giving him any pleasant looks anytime soon.
"Ah, the rod is moving! Su-su, the rod is moving, a fish is biting..." The fishing rod right in front of Tong Xiaoman suddenly began to shake violently. Excited, she grabbed the rod, but having no idea what to do, she could only cry out in panic for Su Ji to come and help.
Su Ji shook his head with a helpless smile. He walked over, reeled in the line, and hoisted it up. Sure enough, a plump marine fish was caught on the hook.
"Wow, such a big fish! I'll take it off." Pleasantly surprised, Tong Xiaoman stepped forward and excitedly unhooked the fish from the line.
The marine fish was extremely lively, thrashing constantly, and its body was very slippery. She couldn't get a grip on it with both hands, and with a swish, the fish slipped right out of her palms.
She shrieked in excitement, "Ah... my fish... don't run away..."
The fish arced through the air. At that precise moment, Nalan Che, unable to stay inside any longer, happened to step out. Catching sight of a dark blur hurtling toward him from the air, he instantly raised his fist, intending to punch it away, when Tong Xiaoman's frantic shout suddenly rang in his ear: "Nalan Che, my fish! Catch it!"
Looking closer, he realized the thing about to assault him was actually a fish. He immediately opened his fist and grabbed at the fish with his palm. Unexpectedly, the fish was slicker than ordinary ones and slipped right out of his grip. With a thud, the fish's head slammed against his face, and its mouth happened to brush directly across his lips.
Nalan Che's expression instantly turned to stone. Meanwhile, the fish that had struck his face landed on the ground with a plop, dizzy and disoriented, completely unable to jump anymore.
*Oh my, how blissful! I actually kissed a handsome guy. Ah, I'm dying of electricity!*
