Chapter 12: Every Man Who Eats It Says It’s Good! The City Officers Come to Catch the Dog!
Qin Lin got up and stretched.
The effects of this Grade 2 okra were truly astonishing. It could practically be used as medicine—and without any side effects, either. It even nourished the kidneys.
As usual, he turned his attention to the luminous screen in his mind, harvested the okra and strawberries, and planted new seeds.
After breakfast, Qin Lin went to the warehouse and delivered this batch of ripe okra and strawberries to RT-Mart, then returned to the shop to rest.
The shop was already deserted. He bought a reclining chair, lay down, and relaxed in comfort.
By evening, the okra and strawberries had ripened again. He once more went to the warehouse, took the produce out of the game, and sent another shipment to RT-Mart.
Today, he had 607 jin of strawberries and 3,050 jin of okra, bringing in another 36,510 yuan. His balance would reach 278,747 yuan.
If he made one more delivery tomorrow, he would break through the three-hundred-thousand mark.
However, when Qin Lin took the invoice to Manager Chen for settlement, he happened to run into the young woman from the previous day again. As they brushed past each other, she carried the same scent that every man understood.
Her phone rang. She answered with a bright smile. “Hello, darling. I’m buying vegetables at RT-Mart. I’ll make you something delicious when I get home.”
“…”
Qin Lin could only marvel at how much fun she was having.
When he entered Manager Chen’s office, he saw the man clutching his lower back while spraying air freshener.
A torn black stocking was clearly visible in the wastebasket beside him.
Once again, Qin Lin could only marvel at how much fun Manager Chen was having.
“President Qin, you’re here.” Manager Chen put down the air freshener. He showed no embarrassment whatsoever, instead warmly leading Qin Lin to the tea table.
Once a man had a little money, who didn’t know how to have fun? Many even treated such things as bragging material at drinking parties. Who would look down on men for it? Men didn’t suffer any losses, after all. The only ones looked down upon were the women being toyed with.
“Manager Chen, here’s today’s invoice.” Qin Lin handed it and the receipt over.
Manager Chen accepted it and signed his name, then said with a beaming smile, “President Qin, the batch of okra you delivered yesterday is already on the shelves, and today’s sales have been excellent as well. I’ll say the same thing as before: six yuan per jin wholesale. I’ll take as much as you can supply.”
“Manager Chen, I can only provide a little over three thousand jin of okra a day.” As he spoke, Qin Lin suddenly thought of something. “However, Manager Chen, I have some specially cultivated okra as well. It has exceptionally strong effects on urinary flow and kidney nourishment. Its effects in that area are even stronger than those of pills. Would you like to try some?”
Remembering how Manager Chen had clutched his back after playing with that woman, Qin Lin figured the man was probably nearing the point where his heart was willing but his body was weak. This was a good opportunity to claw back some of the kickbacks he had paid.
“President Qin, there’s specially cultivated okra too? Are the effects you mentioned real?” Manager Chen’s eyes lit up.

Qin Lin smiled. “Manager Chen, would I dare deceive you? The price is just a little high—at least two hundred yuan per jin—and it’s extremely difficult to obtain. I can try to get some.”
“Two hundred yuan per jin? That expensive?” This was the first time Manager Chen had heard of okra costing so much. But he controlled the distribution channels, and he believed Qin Lin wouldn’t dare cheat him. If he ended their cooperation, Qin Lin would suffer even more. Thus, he said, “President Qin, help me get some. I’ll try it first.”
Thinking about the effects Qin Lin had described, he was already eager to give it a shot.
When a man reached the point of worrying about such matters, he was always willing to spend some money to replenish himself.
“All right. I’ll go take a look first. If I can get any, I’ll bring it over later,” Qin Lin agreed before leaving RT-Mart.
He deliberately waited for a while before going to the warehouse and taking nine jin of Grade 2 okra out of the game. Then he headed back to RT-Mart.
When he entered Manager Chen’s office again, Qin Lin opened the bag in his hand with a smile, revealing the Grade 2 okra inside.
“Manager Chen, this is the okra I mentioned. Nine jin in total—eighteen hundred yuan.”
Looking at the okra, Manager Chen immediately noticed that it was different from ordinary okra. Its color was darker, and each pod was larger.
He had no idea how effective it would be, but once a man began to feel his strength failing, he had to give it a try.
At that point in life, men placed extraordinary importance on sexual satisfaction. Otherwise, those health supplements that had no effect whatsoever and merely tested the buyer’s intelligence would never have become so popular.
Manager Chen paid without the slightest hesitation, which made Qin Lin wonder whether two hundred yuan per jin had been too low.
The night passed.
Qin Lin got up early and harvested another five jin of Grade 2 okra.
After planting new seeds, he ate a little breakfast, then sent the okra and strawberries that had ripened that morning to RT-Mart.
Unexpectedly, while the produce was being weighed, Manager Chen came looking for him himself, his large belly thrust forward. He slyly pulled Qin Lin aside.
“President Qin, do you have any more of that okra from yesterday?”
“???” Qin Lin stared at him in astonishment. “Manager Chen, there were nine jin. You’ve already finished it?”
Manager Chen hurriedly replied, “President Qin, I haven’t finished it yet. But your stuff really works. I’m only asking for more so I can stock up.”
At first, he had been doubtful about the okra’s effects. But after eating some the previous night, he had woken up that morning without the familiar soreness and exhaustion in his lower back.
That proved the okra really was effective—and astonishingly so.
He had spent the entire morning asking around the wholesale market, trying to find out where Qin Lin got his supply. In the end, he had learned nothing, so he had no choice but to seek Qin Lin out again.
Qin Lin knew exactly what Grade 2 okra could do. But judging by Manager Chen’s appearance, its effects on men suffering from declining virility were even stronger than he had anticipated.
Seeing how desperate the man was, Qin Lin deliberately put on a troubled expression. “Manager Chen, you know I’m only an intermediary trying to make a little money. I can’t always obtain this kind of special okra. There was only that small batch, and someone else may have taken it already.”

Manager Chen grew anxious. “President Qin, please help me out. Wasn’t it two hundred yuan per jin before? I can pay four hundred per jin. This is far more useful than those health supplements that cost several thousand or even tens of thousands of yuan.”
Four hundred yuan per jin?
Qin Lin was stunned. Men grew increasingly concerned about sexual satisfaction as they aged.
As he spoke, Manager Chen stuffed the pack of Zhonghua cigarettes in his hand into Qin Lin’s palm.
“President Qin, I’ll be counting on you.”
“All right. I’ll try to help you, Manager Chen.” Qin Lin looked at the cigarettes in his hand. He put on a troubled expression, but inwardly he was rather pleased. It seemed that the roles between him and Manager Chen had begun to reverse.
Now it was the other man who was begging him.
Seeing that Qin Lin had agreed, Manager Chen breathed a sigh of relief.
After Qin Lin left, Manager Chen picked up his phone and made a call. With a sly grin, he said into it, “Hello, President Chu? This is Little Chen. I’ve managed to get my hands on something wonderful…”
Qin Lin naturally still had Grade 2 okra in his possession. He had harvested another five jin that morning, but he did not take it out immediately.
Manager Chen was anxious, so there was no reason for him to be.
Who didn’t understand the principle of keeping rare goods expensive?
At four hundred yuan per jin, the okra would ripen again that evening. If he harvested another five jin of Grade 2 okra, then those ten jin alone would sell for four thousand yuan. That would not only claw back all the kickbacks Manager Chen had taken from him, but leave him with a substantial surplus besides.
It seemed that high-end, premium goods really were the easiest way to make money.
In a cheerful mood, Qin Lin returned to Market Street. But as soon as he reached the entrance to his shop, he saw a crowd gathered around, watching the commotion. Several men in city management uniforms were chasing the black dog with nets.
The black dog darted frantically about. Whenever one of the officers struck it, it let out a shrill, helpless cry toward the surrounding people, as though pleading for someone to save it.
Clearly, someone had reported it, and they had come to capture the dog.
After all, many of the customers who came here were housewives bringing their children. They were afraid the stray dog might hurt them. Quite a few strays had already been captured and euthanized on Market Street.
Stray dogs could easily find food on Market Street, but they could just as easily lose their lives there.
There was no helping it. There were too many irresponsible owners, and far too many stray dogs.
Hadn’t a young female veterinarian recently been subjected to online abuse after euthanizing eight hundred stray dogs?
