Chapter 4: The Celestial Gate
Chapter 4: Celestial Gate
Gu Mang opened her computer and launched the game.
Lu Shangjin looked at Gu Mang, who seemed utterly cold and ruthless, and felt a headache coming on.
He sighed and said, "Alright then, just wander around these couple of days. Need a car? I can arrange a driver for you."
The girl’s slender, beautiful fingers moved so swiftly over the mouse and keyboard it was dizzying. She ignored him completely.
Lu Shangjin found it incredibly difficult.
Gu Si, holding one of the flip phones, glanced up during a free moment and said, "No need for a car. Goodbye, Uncle Lu."
Lu Shangjin: “...”
The siblings really were each wilder than the other.
Closing the door to the room behind him, Lu Shangjin began to question his life choices.
To think, he, the esteemed head of Ming City, would have a day like this!
...
Gu Mang came out of the shower, her brows lowered as she dried her hair.
Hearing Gu Si chatting with someone, she lifted her eyelids slightly, her cold eyes glancing over.
Gu Si was sitting in front of her computer.
She had no idea how this kid had managed to crack her computer password.
Improvement.
On the screen was a strikingly alluring face.
The makeup was exquisite, eyelashes long, and the blue eyeliner gave every smile and frown a bewitching charm, like a siren capable of wreaking havoc on all who saw her.
The background was the dance floor of a certain bar.
“Hey, little Gu,” the woman smiled slyly, eyes half-lidded, her skin dazzlingly pale, clad in a strapless leather outfit—both beautiful and seductive. Many men passing by couldn’t help but steal glances.
Gu Si’s eyes sparkled as he asked, “Sister Lin, is the bar fun?”
“Of course it is. Look at how lively it is behind me,” Lin Shuang raised an eyebrow, her voice full of seduction. “Kiddo, let your sister bring you out to have some fun.”
Gu Si excitedly said, “Great, great! Ah—”
Suddenly, he was grabbed by the collar from behind and thrown onto the bed with a thud.
The action was swift and decisive.
He sprawled out awkwardly.
When he got up from the bed, he saw his sister sitting in the chair he had just vacated.
Her long, slender legs were crossed and rested on the desk.
Her back leaned casually against the chair, tilted at a stable thirty-degree angle.
The girl sitting there exuded an untamed wildness that was impossible to describe.
Gu Mang, drying her hair, lifted her cold gaze to glance at Lin Shuang, a chill mist lingering in her eyes.
Lin Shuang pouted playfully, “What’s wrong? Why are you staring like that?”
“Don’t corrupt my brother,” Gu Mang’s tone was cold, carrying a low-pressure aura as soon as she spoke. “What do you want from me?”
Lin Shuang took a sip of her drink, smiling seductively.
She said slowly, “That family of Lu’s looking for you—I did a little tinkering from your position and tricked them into coming to this bar. Why don’t you come and have some fun?”
Gu Mang’s movements paused, her towel pressing down on the desk. Her eyes darkened with depth. “Trying to stir up trouble everywhere?”
“How could it be that?” Lin Shuang pouted and then curiously asked, “Aren’t you interested in that Young Master Lu?”
“Don’t underestimate him.”
Her age was her best disguise; no one ever suspected that the fabled national medical prodigy was only seventeen.
But Lu Chengzhou was someone she had to be cautious about.
“I wouldn’t dare underestimate the famous Young Master Lu of Jing City,” Lin Shuang shrugged. After a moment, not giving up, she asked again, “You’re really not coming? There’s an auction at the bar tonight. The highlight is a jade piece said to calm the mind and steady the spirit—pretty legendary. You’ve been researching neurological treatments these past few years, haven’t you?”
A trace of emotion flickered in Gu Mang’s calm eyes. “Where are you?”
“Celestial Gate.”
The most luxurious entertainment venue in Ming City.
Only the rich and powerful could afford to play there.
