Chapter 34: Clearly on a Whole Different Level!
Starting from the window and spreading toward the door, students raised their heads one by one, jostled by the kicks, shoves, and bumps of those around them. They stared blankly toward the doorway.
Chu Yao was nudged by Shen Huan and followed her gaze toward the door. When the girl’s face appeared, he gasped in silence, "Damn, where did this badass come from?"
The girl’s features were exquisitely sharp; her eyes were dark, bright, and held a hint of cold, fierce defiance. Every glance she cast was nonchalant, yet carried an inherent sense of arrogance—a domineering air that seemed to emanate from her very bones.
"My name is Meng Jinyang."
"I am Gu Mang."
Lu Yang, who had been sprawled across his desk, frowned at the mention of the name "Gu Mang." He tugged his school uniform jacket up to reveal one eye and peered toward the front of the classroom. The next second, he sat bolt upright, his eyes widening in shock.
Holy crap! Gu Mang! Is she the "stunningly beautiful new student" the chubby kid was talking about?!
Not a single soul in the classroom spoke; everyone held their breath. Xi Yan’s mouth twitched—she had never seen the class this quiet during her lectures. With a new student, they were all more silent than the last. She glanced at the three empty seats and pointed, "Gu Mang, you sit next to Lu Yang for now, in the back row. Meng Jinyang, sit next to Shen Huan, in the middle of the third row."
Gu Mang was tall; sitting in the front wouldn’t be appropriate.

Lu Yang jolted, snapping out of his daze as he watched the girl walk toward him. Her face was breathtaking, her eyes crystal clear and purely black and white, wrapped in a layer of chill. Her skin was pale, and her legs were long and straight. She was striking in every way.
She wasn’t wearing her uniform, carrying it in her hand instead. Her stride was loose, exuding a lazy, reckless air. She was incredibly wicked, incredibly cold. Everyone’s gaze followed her, unblinking.
"I have a bold theory: the school forum is going to explode today."
"A while back, Gu Yin transferred in, and as soon as she arrived, Lu Yi’s title as the school’s sweetheart was in jeopardy. Last week, she tied with Lu Yi for first place in the grade, knocking Lu Yi off the throne. They’ve been fighting a cold war ever since. Now Gu Mang shows up? Three women make a drama, don't they?"
"Someone like Gu Mang is clearly on a whole different level, okay? She’s cold as ice! She’s more like a school bully."
"True. That presence of hers? Damn, it’s strong."
"Does that mean she’s going to have a showdown with Brother Yang?"
"Forget it. Look at Brother Yang—his eyes are practically glued to her. He’d probably hand over the title of school bully to her on a silver platter!"
Meng Jinyang faintly overheard their whispers. She suppressed a smile, greeted Shen Huan, and took her seat. Gu Mang placed her books on the desk, swung her leg over, and sat down with her legs crossed. It was the posture of a boss—arrogant and unrestrained. With her eyes cast downward, she kept only her chemistry textbook out and shoved the rest into her desk compartment. She draped her school uniform over her shoulders, looking incredibly cool.

Lu Yang glanced sideways at the girl sitting next to him. His heart skipped a beat, and he sat frozen in his seat, not daring to move an inch.
The chubby kid secretly peeked at the "boss" sitting diagonally behind him, then looked at the stunned Lu Yang. He felt immensely smug. Now they believed what he had said.
Up at the front, Xi Yan had already started the lecture. They were in the middle of a general review, currently covering "Elements Enriched in Seawater—Chlorine." The first ten minutes of class were traditionally reserved for going over problems. Xi Yan had handed out worksheets the day before, but Gu Mang didn't have one.
Once Gu Mang had finished settling in, Lu Yang took his own worksheet—which was as blank as his face—and slid it between them. "You can borrow mine."
Gu Mang glanced at his paper and looked up. Meeting those clear, bright eyes, Lu Yang’s heart faltered for a second. He explained, sounding less than confident, "I forgot to do it yesterday. Listening to the teacher explain it is the same thing."
Damn, how embarrassing.
Gu Mang raised an eyebrow. Lu Yang’s eyelashes fluttered, and he dodged her gaze. The chubby kid suddenly turned around, exclaiming, "Holy crap, Brother Yang, why are you blushing?"
Lu Yang shot him a cold glare, and the chubby kid shrank his neck and turned back around.
