Chapter 19: Has the Old Lady Awakened?
Chapter 19: The Grandmother Has Awakened?
Lu Chengzhou’s dark eyes suddenly hardened when he saw the police about to handcuff Gu Mang. A chilling aura surrounded him, sending shivers down everyone’s spines. The police officer’s hand froze mid-air.
Everyone held their breath in fear.
Throughout it all, Gu Mang hadn’t moved a muscle. She stood lazily on the steps, her hands still tucked inside her coat pockets.
“The grandmother has awakened,” Lu Chengzhou said coldly.
Faces around him changed instantly. “What?! She’s awake?”
Could they really have saved her?
Even Lu Xiwei was unsure about the illness.
How was this possible?
Was it just a lucky fluke?
Gu Mang’s expression remained indifferent as she casually bent one leg, standing there with the night breeze gently teasing her sleek black hair. She looked both ethereal and cold, with a hint of wild defiance etched into her very bones.
From her pocket, she pulled out a small pen and a palm-sized piece of paper. With crooked handwriting, she scribbled something down.
Under the light, her delicate brows and cold gaze were breathtakingly beautiful.
Everyone watched her in silence.
---
Not a sound was heard.
After writing for several tens of seconds, Gu Mang held out the paper with her slender, pale fingers to Lu Chengzhou. “This is a prescription. Take the medicine for a week to restore your health.”
Lu Chengzhou took the paper and frowned at the messy handwriting.
Gu Mang casually slipped the paper back into her coat pocket. “Uncle Lu, I have other matters to attend to. I’m leaving now.”
With that, she swaggered down the stairs, her upturned eyes brimming with arrogance and rebellion.
Utter disdain.
Lu Shangjin was speechless.
Lu Chengzhou looked at the girl’s slender, tall figure and raised an eyebrow. “Miss Gu.”
She stopped and glanced back at him.
The man smiled with an air of nobility and nonchalance. “When is your next acupuncture session?”
Next time.
Gu Mang smiled too, a wicked and icy curve on her lips, her melodious voice dripping with indifference as she spoke slowly. “Take the medicine on time. You’ll recover in a week.”
Lu Shangjin’s face turned pale. “Gu Mang—”
“Uncle Lu, I have other matters,” the girl said, tossing out her words, donning a black baseball cap, and turning to leave.
Her back radiated coldness.
Her legs were straight and slender.
Lu Shangjin pressed his lips tight, silently cursing everyone present.
These fools had angered this big shot!
“Sixth Uncle, where did you find this person?” Lu Chengzhou asked, watching Gu Mang’s retreating figure.
Lu Shangjin turned his face and met Lu Chengzhou’s deep, icy gaze. Feeling a tightening in his mind, he kept his expression unchanged. “Her acupuncture skills are quite good. I heard the doctors here were helpless, so I thought I’d give her a try.”
Lu Chengzhou said nothing.
---
Whether he believed it or not was unclear.
Lu Shangjin was a bit intimidated by his nephew—too inscrutable, his thoughts unfathomable.
He cleared his throat. “Since Mom is fine, I’ll head back to Ming City first.”
With that, he quickly turned and slipped away.
Lu Chengzhou slid one hand into his pocket, his striking eyes narrowing with meaning.
---
Inside the room.
The old lady had awakened briefly but, lacking strength, slipped back into sleep.
Lu Xiwei conducted a thorough examination.
The blood clot in the brain had mostly dissipated. The body’s self-healing ability could restore it within two to three months at most.
She breathed with some difficulty, staring at the test results in her hand.
It was unbelievable.
The military doctor also found it a bit mystical and hesitated. “Miss Lu, could it be that the brain drainage surgery you had earlier worked slowly, causing the blood clot to dissolve gradually?”
But that didn’t make sense either.
There was no known case of drainage surgery taking this long to show effects.
Upon hearing this, Lu Xiwei’s eyes flickered as she slowly looked toward the three military doctors.
