Chapter 29
Jiangchao City is located in the south, and even though it has already started snowing in other places, this city only experiences a cool breeze.
Early in the morning, Yu Yan was getting ready to brush her teeth and wash her face when she saw someone in the group chat announce that the vendor had set up her stall. She immediately donned her bamboo-copter and dashed toward the living room. "Mom! Come with me to the pedestrian street quickly!"
"Where’s Dad?"
Chen Songmei had intended to scold her for being so flustered, but as soon as she heard the mention of the pedestrian street, she immediately understood. "The vendor is out?"
Yu Yan nodded vigorously, and the two of them headed toward the pedestrian street together, with Chen Songmei hurriedly calling Yu Yan's father on the way. "Come to the pedestrian street quickly! The vendor is here; if you come too late, you won't be able to buy anything!"
They jogged all the way to the pedestrian street. Fortunately, their home was not far, but by the time they arrived, a long queue had already formed.
Wearing her bamboo-copter, Yu Yan took out her phone and zoomed in on the items at the vendor’s stall. A large cloud appeared above the vendor’s head on her screen; it was raining, the water pouring down heavily, wetting the ground all around. The vendor sat beneath the cloud, holding an umbrella and a megaphone.
"Light rain." The cloud above dripped steadily.
"Moderate rain." The rain poured down.
"Heavy rain." The rain cascaded down so hard it nearly ruined Xia Zui’s umbrella.
Wen Xue watched in shock. Although she knew from the internet that the vendor’s products were impressive, witnessing it with her own eyes was indescribably stunning. It felt like watching a fantasy film.
Before she could recover from her shock, the vendor spoke again: "It can also snow."
Xia Zui licked her lips, tucked away her umbrella, and watched as snowflakes drifted down. At first, there were only a few, but soon the snow fell harder and harder, swirling beautifully. The sun was shining in the sky, yet it was snowing right here—the scene was nothing short of dreamy.
The crowd in line was ecstatic.
"Ahhhhh! A southern child finally seeing snow! I have to buy this!"
"My god, what an amazing cloud. Now I can play in the snow whenever I want!"
"Such an aesthetic scene. It would be perfect for photos—you can have as much snow as you want."
Watching this, Wen Xue decided she had to have it. If she used this for photos and videos, it would be absolutely gorgeous! Wait a minute! The weather cloud should be able to turn into a sunny day, too, right? That would mean she wouldn't even need lighting for photos anymore!
Xia Zui enjoyed playing in the snow for a moment; she loved the weather cloud, especially since she had never seen snow before. For a southerner, snow had an incredible charm! However, she restrained herself, and soon the weather cloud turned into a sunny day. The sunlight illuminated everything, making Xia Zui look like a golden Buddha, shining brightly.
Some people in line couldn't help but laugh; it was just too comical. Yu Yan watched the scene and laughed, "Isn't this better than the low-budget special effects in TV dramas?"
"Hahahaha!"
Xia Zui held the megaphone. "Overcast."
The weather cloud quickly shifted from sunny to overcast, as if changing its mood. Seeing this, Wen Xue thought it was perfect for those who were a bit dramatic—raining when in a bad mood, overcast when feeling average, and sunny when in a great mood. Hahahaha! She had to buy it! She had to buy a lot!
After the demonstration, Xia Zui set the weather cloud aside and pulled out the next product. Everyone saw her tap something that looked like a dinosaur egg sitting next to the stall. She pressed a button, the egg opened, and she pulled out a garment to show everyone.
"This is a garment cleaner," Xia Zui said.
Wen Xue couldn't bear to look at the clothes; they seemed to have been stored for a long time, not only yellowed but also stained with oil, paint, and pen marks. It was filthy. However, in the next second, Xia Zui tossed the garment inside, and the cleaner automatically closed its lid.
"For the garment cleaner, you just need to throw the dirty clothes in, and you can take them out after a minute. No water or detergent required."
Wen Xue stared intently at the cleaner, and the crowd waited patiently. Everyone knew how dirty that piece of clothing was; a regular washing machine would never get it clean. Most machines on the market still required hand-scrubbing for oil stains or dirty cuffs. She had also seen that the vendor didn't add water or detergent. If this could actually clean it, it would be a miracle!
One minute passed, and the cleaner glowed. Xia Zui pressed the button again, and the lid opened. She fished the garment out.
Heng Jianmu, who was standing nearby, dropped his jaw. He had been standing right next to the vendor and had seen exactly how dirty the clothes were. But the garment before him…
"Hiss!"
The previously filthy clothes had vanished, replaced by a garment as clean as new. If the pattern hadn't been the same, they would have suspected Xia Zui of swapping it. Those in the front row peeked inside the cleaner, but there were no dirty clothes left. However, they remembered there had been a hole in the garment earlier, and upon closer inspection, the hole was still there in the same spot.
In other words, the cleaner really could remove all the stains! Even the wrinkles from the old clothes were gone. It was a lazy person’s holy grail!
"Vendor, how much for this egg... err, this cleaner?" someone asked.
Xia Zui put the clothes away. "The cleaner is 599 yuan, the pet Pokéball is 399 yuan, the weather cloud is 499 yuan. The hair-growth comb is 199 yuan."
"The prices for the bamboo-copter and the magic glasses remain unchanged, but I only sell the magic glasses to those who truly need them. If you don't need them, please don't buy them." Xia Zui added, "The same rule applies: one item per person. Those who have already bought a bamboo-copter or magic glasses should not buy them again."
To complete this mission, the stall had given her a cheat code: she could accurately judge who had already made a purchase and who truly needed the magic glasses. This prevented repeat buyers or those who didn't need the glasses from buying them only to resell them at a high price to the blind or deaf. Information appeared next to the faces of the customers.
Xia Zui glanced at Heng Jianmu; a box appeared next to his face: [Purchased: Magic Glasses, Bamboo-copter. No need for further magic glasses for him or his family.] With this, Xia Zui could easily distinguish everyone.
Hearing this, Wen Xue nodded. They had no use for the magic glasses anyway; it was better to leave them for those who needed them. Most people in line agreed. Of course, Wen Xue was more focused on the price of the cleaner—only 599 yuan! It was cheaper than a washing machine. If she bought it, she wouldn't have to wait for clothes to dry ever again. For office workers who had to wear uniforms, they were already tired after work, and having to wash and hang clothes was a chore. If the weather was bad, the clothes might still be damp by the next morning. With this device, it was a total time and effort saver; she could put on clean clothes in just one minute. She was buying it!
The people in the front were already eager to take their items home. Even Xiao Li, who was maintaining order nearby, was envious. She wanted one too, but unfortunately, she couldn't leave her post to queue. She sighed.
After Xia Zui finished, she took a sip of water. "Next is the final product."
She stood beside a large full-length mirror. It looked quite ordinary, with no decorations other than a metallic frame. Wen Xue curiously leaned in, seeing her own reflection.
"This is a fitting mirror," Xia Zui said, clearing her throat. "I believe everyone has encountered the situation where you see clothes you like but can't try them on. In such cases, we just need to import the information of that garment into the mirror. Then, it can generate an image of you wearing those clothes! And this mirror can recommend outfits based on your body type. Most importantly, it can also recommend suitable hairstyles and makeup!"
"Let me demonstrate." Xia Zui pulled out her phone, found a random online store, and clicked on a piece of women's clothing. She showed the screen to everyone. "Let's try this one."
After everyone had a clear look, Xia Zui pressed her phone screen against the mirror. Wen Xue watched without blinking. Suddenly, the vendor in the mirror was wearing a completely different outfit. She had been wearing a plain hoodie with a simple ponytail, but in the mirror, she was dressed in a festive Hanfu, complete with a traditional hairstyle.
Wen Xue’s mouth hung slightly open, her scalp tingling. Because she was in the front, she could clearly see that the patterns on the Hanfu were printed, not embroidered. The outfit looked a bit bulky on the upper body, and the quality seemed average in the reflection—a far cry from the professionally retouched photos the vendor had just shown.
